Asa Alonzo Allen started out in ministry during the great depression, which was a time of economic hardship in America. To supplement his meager income as a pastor, he chopped wood and sold it.
It was during this time that Allen learned the power of prayer. When he prayed before his meetings, he found the number of attendees dramatically multiplied.
In the late 1930s Allen accepted a pastorate at the Tower Assembly of God in Holly Colorado. It was while there Allen’s spirit was pricked to seek the secret of God’s power through fasting and praying. But fasting was new to Allen and he had great difficulty in following through.
One day he planned to go on a long fast but few hours later he changed his mind and sat down to eat. But after the first spoonful, he felt so strongly convicted by the Holy Spirit that he abandoned the food and went back to his prayer closet. In the course of this prayer and fasting, he had a divine visitation from God and from that encounter he received the power to heal the sick and cast out devils. And thus began the mighty manifestations of power that led to his outstanding ministry. God used him to usher in a mighty move of the Spirit that swept the American nation with powerful miracles, signs and wonders. A.A Allen built a far-reaching worldwide ministry, comprising an international radio program, Bible school and ministry training center, as well as overseas missions programs.

The mighty manifestations in Allen’s ministry only came about because he became willing to pay the price for power.
The power of God is desired by many but only experienced by the few who pay the price for it. As believers we are required to seek the manifestation of God’s power in our lives. The entire world is waiting for our manifestation; not our explanations.
Especially in these last days, we need unction to function. Anyone who must fulfill destiny must be empowered because the forces of darkness have no respect for your title, education or background; they only fear the power of God at work in your life. It is through the greatness of God’s power in you that every enemy submits. Certainly, the kingdom of God is not in words but in power. Therefore let us go for power! Let us determine, to seek God until we begin to experience tangible manifestations of His power in our lives.
God said in Jeremiah 29:13-14 ‘And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity’
Indeed when we seek God with all our heart we will find Him. And when we find Him there shall be a reward and our expectations shall not be cut off.
In this season as we separate ourselves in prayer and fasting to seek God, let us determine to experience a fresh encounter with His power that will cause us to truly break forth on every side and achieve extraordinary results this year.

PRAYER: Lord, Please help me to pay the price to encounter Your Power in this season. Please deliver me from every distraction and enable me to daily draw closer to You, so as to experience the mighty flow of Your Spirit in my life in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 19; REMAIN STEADFAST IN PRAYERS!

In the early 1960’s, Lila Torres and her husband left their modest life in Puerto Rico and moved to New York City in search of prosperity. But their dream soon turned into a nightmare when their young son, Victor, was initiated into the “Roman Lords” street gang and became addicted to heroin. At twelve years, he stabbed a man in the chest and by age of seventeen, he had been imprisoned three times.
Lila Torres desperately searched for a solution to her son’s situation. She even reached out to a witch but nothing worked. A friend introduced her to a Church where she encountered Christ, and learned about the power of prayer. Seven days a week and twice on Sundays, she would go to the church and pray to God to save her son and make him a pastor. Initially it seemed what she was praying for was impossible because Victor became worse and was sent to rehab fourteen different times, before the age of 20. His mental health issues were so great that he wanted to commit suicide.
But Lila never gave up; she kept praying and prophesying over him. Then God began to move. One day Victor almost died from heroine overdose and was taken to a Christian rehab center. There, God touched Victor’s heart and set him free from drug addiction and he surrendered his life to Christ.
Just as his mother had prayed and prophesied, today Victor is the founder and pastor of New Life Outreach International Church in Richmond, Virginia. He has established drug rehab facilities all over the United States, and has outreaches to drug addicts and gang members.

Why we should never give up in our prayers is because we often face our greatest battles on the eve of our greatest victories.
In 1 Samuel 16, Prophet Samuel anointed David to be the next king when he was still a youth, but thirteen years went by, and there was no sign of it happening. Rather trouble seemed to surround David as he was pursued up and down by Saul. He faced perhaps his worst day after the Amalekites destroyed their home at Ziklag, captured their families and his own men turned against him and talked about stoning him.
In that dark hour, David must have wondered if the promises of God would ever manifest in his life. But rather than become depressed, David encouraged himself in the Lord and pursued the Amalekites until he recovered all that he had lost. And just three days later, in the very next chapter [1 Samuel 31] king Saul was killed in a battle. David soon became the king as God had promised him.
The point is that David was closest to the manifestation of God’s promise when he faced his greatest challenge. Sometimes when it seems like everything is coming against you, it may just be because you are at the verge of your greatest victory.
Weariness is a strategy the enemy often uses to try to get you to give up when you are closest to your miracle. Many times breakdowns come just before the point of your breakthrough. And sometimes too, troubles would break out just before you break forth. But, we must learn to remain steadfast in prayers and keep praising God in every situation because He is working behind the scenes. As we patiently persist in fasting and praying in this season, our labor shall never be in vain. By God’s grace, nothing will hinder our breaking forth into glorious new colors this year in Jesus Name. .

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for strengthening me against weariness as I persist in the place of prayers. I know that You are working in my favor and my victory is already on the way in Jesus Name.

James Gordon Lindsay is author of ” Prayer and Fasting: The Master Key to the Impossible”.
He played a vital role in the ministry success of many healing evangelists during the 1940s and 1950s. He also assisted in the establishment of hundreds of churches in various countries.
Learning the secret of fasting and praying was instrumental to his success in life and ministry.
Gordon was raised in a Christian home where his parents were active in ministry, but he grew up lacking a personal intimate relationship with God.
When he became a young man, Gordon fell critically ill and for days it appeared like the end of his life had come. Though ministers of the Gospel prayed for him, he remained sick. Finally, Lindsay decided to wait upon the Lord for his healing. As he began studying the Word and reading Christian materials, faith sprang into his heart and he received his miraculous healing.
Having understood the importance of intimacy with God, he often sought it through seasons of fasting and praying. When he later became an independent Pentecostal evangelist, he would go into several days of fasting and praying, which resulted in amazing explosion of healing and miracles in his ministry.
Gordon Lindsay, is recognized today as a famous revivalist preacher, author, and founder of Christ for the Nations Institute.

Personal knowledge of God is our greatest asset in life. How well you know God is more valuable than all the money you will ever make and all the diplomas in your name.
This point is well emphasized in Jeremiah 9:23-24 which says “Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me”.

Understanding and knowing God intimately is the greatest benefit of fasting and praying. When you remove or reduce food from your diet for a number of days, your spirit becomes more sensitive to God. And as you grow in intimacy with Him, you will receive clarity and unction to go forth and accomplish great feats.
Perhaps, today you are nursing a big vision in your heart for 2024, but wondering how to achieve it. The birthplace of that dream is in the womb of prayer. Things are first established in the spirit before they have physical expression.
As you persist in prayers in this season, you will receive the anointing, the favor, the power and blessing to go forth and break forth to greater heights of attainments.
Since Daniel 11:32 tells us that it is only those who know their God that will be strong and do exploits, let us be thirsting, craving, longing and panting for more intimate knowledge of God.[Psalm 42:1-2]
As our hearts pants after God and connects to Him, we will be empowered to breakthrough and break forth to realms of limitless possibilities and greatest opportunities this year.

PRAYER: Lord, Please engrace me to tirelessly seek You until I arrive at greater depths of intimacy in my relationship with You. Thank You Lord for empowering me to scale new heights this year and accomplish mighty things for You in Jesus Name.

Ethan Otis Allen, was the First American Healing Evangelist.
Born in 1813, in his youth Allen became afflicted with a deadly disease known as consumption or pulmonary tuberculosis. It was believed he would eventually die from the incurable affliction, which kept him in a weakened condition.
In 1846 Allen attended a Methodist meeting in a country schoolhouse. At the close of the meeting, he gave his life to Christ. As the brethren prayed for him, Ethan Allen was instantly healed from his ailment.
Greatly impacted by his divine healing, Allen began serving God and later went into ministry of divine healing and saw many sick people healed and delivered.
But after some years, he felt the need to move higher in his calling. He felt the Lord calling him to a greater level in the ministry of healing.
To prepare, Allen took to spending many days in fasting and prayer. After this, he began to see greater display of God’s power in his meetings. The manifestation of amazing miracles, signs and wonders distinguished his ministry and brought great blessings into his life. From a poor farm boy, he rose to prominence in his generation and is recognized today as the father of divine healing in America.. And from someone who had been given up to die as a youth, he lived to a ripe old age of 89 years old.

Jesus is committed to our divine healing and deliverance. He paid a great price at Calvary to ensure that nothing and no one cuts short our lives prematurely, so that we can live to declare the works of the Lord in the land of the living.
Jesus is not only committed to our living in health, He is also committed to our overall progress and living the abundant life. His Blood was shed to deliver us from every form of stagnation.
Having come into this new year, it is God’s will that we move to greater levels of life.
Proverbs 4:18 says ‘But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”

Our path is meant to shine brighter and brighter.
Each year is meant to move us forward to better health, better finances, better relationships etc . It is God’s will that we keep making progress and taking new grounds. Stagnation is not part of His plan for you.
No matter where you may be today, there are greater breakthroughs, opportunities, open doors, blessing, and resources awaiting you this year.
But we must understand that there are spiritual forces of resistance that fights to keep people from moving forward. One of the benefits of fasting and praying is to destroy these forces of stagnation.
If you feel you have been on the same spot, suffering the same afflictions, and seen no real progress in past years, then this fasting season is an opportunity to turn things around. By God’s grace this year is going to be different; you will see an end of every dryness and experience your greatest season of fruitfulness. In this season of prayer, the power of God will give you the forceful turnaround that will push you to higher levels
By the Blood of Jesus, an end has come to every satanic limitation and hindrance. 2024 is surely our year to break forth on every side and experience unprecedented leaps of progress in every area.

PRAYER: Lord I thank You for moving me higher up to my next levels. Thank You Lord for destroying every stagnation and causing me to truly break forth on every side in Jesus Name.

In 1908, John G. Lake went to South Africa and spent five history-making years that has been described as ‘the most extensive and powerful missionary movement in all Africa.’
Before embarking on this mission, John G. Lake first spent time in fasting and praying and seeking the Lord.
On the last day of this fast, he heard the Spirit say to him ‘From henceforth, thou shalt cast out demons.’
He arose and praised God. An opportunity to test this newly-given anointing came the following Sunday when a violently insane man was brought to him. As Lake rebuked the evil spirit the man was instantly delivered and two days later he was discharged from the asylum where he had been confined.
With the power of God flowing through him, in April 1908, Lake left for South Africa. There, God used him to ignite a mighty Revival, which was to profoundly impact the African continent for years to come.

Jesus set the example for us to embark on new ventures through a season of fasting and praying.
By waiting first to receive the empowerment of the Spirit, Jesus accomplished mighty works in His ministry that changed the world.
Before embarking on their missionary journeys, Paul and Barnabas were commissioned by the Holy Spirit during a season of fasting, praying and ministering unto the Lord in Antioch.[Acts 13:2-3].
Through being empowered by the Spirit, they went forth and conquered many new territories for the Gospel.
Before the birth of the early Church, the disciples were in upper room for ten days praying and waiting upon the Lord, until the day of Pentecost. After being empowered by the Holy Spirit they broke forth into Jerusalem and surrounding regions and manifested such wonders that they were said to “turn the world upside down”.
Church history shows that nearly every great revival and awakening was first birthed in the womb of prayer and fasting. Likewise, to see the mighty move of God in our lives this year, a season of fasting and praying is an essential beginning process.
Therefore let us pray the price with joy because we are preparing the ground to breakthrough and break forth into new anointings, and manifestations of power that will definitely affect our world this year to the glory of God.

PRAYER: Lord, please empower me to soar to new levels of exploits and manifest Your glory to the world. May Your anointing announce me through mighty works throughout this year in Jesus Name.

Cornerstone Ministries International has been training believers and delivering Bibles into restricted nations especially North Korea since 1985. Their executive director, Peter Lee, recently shared a testimony of one of their trainees.
After receiving ministry training at their China office, this female trainee from North Korea had returned home to her husband who was a long time drunkard. He had refused to change despite her prayers. One day he came home drunk and started ridiculing her Christian faith and her going to train in China. She became angry and yelled back at him with anger and resentment.
When he threatened her with violence, she ran out of the house, vowing never to return. Burning with anger and walking several miles without destination, she suddenly had a divine encounter. She saw clouds form a cross before her and a jolt of electricity went through her body, then she heard the still small voice of the Lord correcting her for not reacting with love and patience towards her unsaved husband. As tears began to roll down her cheeks, she repented of her attitude before God and decided to return home. But on getting there, she found her husband had left and did not return for several days. She then decided to fast and pray for five days for his salvation.
After two weeks, her husband returned home sober and shared a strange experience. He told her that some days earlier he had choked and almost died when he tried getting drunk and since then he had lost every appetite for liquor.
She realized that God had taken away his appetite for alcohol – on the day she finished her fast!
From then onward, he became a new man, he stopped drinking and eventually surrendered his life to Christ.

In Matthew 17:21, Jesus told His disciples that why they could not handle the situation that confronted them was because the kind of demon involved could only go out through prayer and fasting.
Today’s generation is dealing with a lot of such ‘kinds’ in fierce demonic oppositions to relationships, families, health, finances etc.
If you’ve been fighting an uphill battle in any area and it seems your prayers have not been effective, you may be dealing with such ‘kinds’ that require an addition of fasting.
Why some repetitive problems appear to defy solution is because they have deep spiritual roots that must first be dealt with.
Always remember that our wrestle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil in the high places (Ephesians 6:12).
Fasting and praying is a spiritual weapon that shatters demonic barriers and makes the way for the flow of miracles. When we pray, we have the potential of igniting the explosive dynamic power of Heaven in our circumstances.(James 5:16).
Therefore, in this season of fasting and praying, we can expect to see the mighty release of God’s power that will destroy hitherto impossible barriers in our lives.
Let us get ready to experience yoke breaking anointing that will destroy longstanding hindrances and enable us to break forth on every side. Because praise precedes the victory, let us begin to give God worthy praise in expectation of our desired breakthroughs and miracles this year..

PRAYER: Lord, by Your grace I draw the strength to persevere in this season of prayer and fasting. Thank You for causing me to be victorious over longstanding challenges and soar to great new heights in Jesus Name.

Franklin Hall was a Pentecostal evangelist best known for his emphasis on prayer and fasting.
Hall wrote several books, including Glorified Fasting, The Fasting Prayer, and Our Divine Healing Obligation.
In 1946, he published a book entitled “Atomic Power with God through Fasting and Prayer”. The book, which provided detailed information on the methods and benefits of fasting, was an immediate success and brought Hall considerable fame. Many who read the book were motivated to go on extended fasts and begin to seek God for revival and the restoration of spiritual gifts to the church.
This led to a great movement of fasting and prayer that swept through America and then the rest of the world. Many of the healing revivalists in the Latter Rain Revival and Voice of Healing Revival used Hall’s Fasting methods in their meetings. The result of this was that starting from 1947 up till 1952, the great healing revival broke out. There were extraordinary miracles as many witnessed mighty manifestations of God’s power with thousands of conversions and extraordinary testimonies.

Truly, praying and fasting are non-negotiable requirement for spiritual power.
Walking in power is not determined by how long you have been born again. It is a function of how fervently your heart pants after the Lord and how willing you are to pay the required price to seek Him.
Those who eventually emerge as giants of the faith are those who are willing to seek and serve the Lord at any cost. Today we celebrate Paul the Apostle but in 2 Corinthians 11:27, he details some of the price he had to pay.
He said ‘In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness..’
Paul fasted often and this empowered him to overcome many oppositions and serve the Lord fervently.
To maintain our spiritual fervency, fasting is not optional, it is a practice every believer should always engage in periodically to be spiritually recharged. With the worsening state of affairs in the world, there’s a growing need for a spiritual awakening that will shake every believer out of slumber.
Indeed we are living in a very critical time on the earth right now. It is a time when no believer can afford to be spiritually insensitive.
To stay spiritually alert, we need to be committed to waiting upon God and walking in line with His Word. As we fast and pray and fervently seek God, His divine empowerment will come upon us and trigger an outbreak of miracles, signs and wonders in our midst.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank you for the grace to continually wait upon You in this season. Please help me to wake up from every spiritual slumber and align myself to Your plans and purpose for me this year in Jesus Name.

All life on earth depends on salt to survive.
Salt has been used by humans for thousands of years, from food preservation to seasoning. Salt’s ability to preserve food was a founding contributor to the development of civilization. It helped eliminate dependence on seasonal availability of food, and made it possible to transport food over large distances.
Salt has been an important and integral part of the world’s history, as it has been interwoven into countless civilizations.
Even today, the history of salt touches our daily lives. The word “salary” was derived from the word “salt.” Salt was highly valued and its production was legally restricted in ancient times, so it was historically used as a method of trade and currency.
The word “salad” also originated from “salt,” and began with the early Romans salting their leafy greens and vegetables. Undeniably, the history of salt is both broad and unique, leaving its indelible mark in cultures across the globe.

In Mathew 13-14, Jesus says we are the salt of the earth.
Being the salt of the earth; means we are designed to preserve humanity from decadence and to give taste to the tasteless world.
It is true that today we live in a time of spiritual peril, but it is also a time of great potential for believers.
Earth’s darkest hour is the church finest hour.
While the world is decaying, this presents us with the opportunity to take our place as salt of the earth and preserve it from decadence.
As bad as things are today, can you imagine how much worse it would be if there were no churches, no Christians, no Bibles, no preachers of the Gospel?
As believers our presence makes a huge difference in the world..
Therefore, at this time, obscurity and nonentity is not part of God’s plan for you. You are meant to be a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden.
In our families, offices, communities, nations; wherever we go, God wants us to play a significant role in the preservation of lives.
To this purpose great grace and Anointing is being released. Let us be sensitive not to miss our portion.
2024 will not be business as usual. It is our year to transform from consumers to contributors. From passivity to making great impact.
Therefore, in this time of prayer and fasting, let us seek to receive specific vision from Heaven and begin to run with it.
As we accept the responsibility to become salt of the earth and positively influence our world, surely, our lives will burst forth into glorious colors. It will be out time to be enthroned with supernatural authority, to reign in our field of endeavors.

PRAYER: Lord Please enable me to diligently follow Your Word in every situation. I know that even right now, You are at work in my life to truly turn me into a blessing to my world in Jesus Name. .

In recent years, scientists have been raising alarm over global warming and how the earth is rapidly heading towards the worst catastrophe in human history. This warning of a coming apocalypse has prompted some of the richest people on earth to start making plans of escape to other planets. With increasing technological advances, there has been plans to make Mars habitable for humans.
Though water on Mars is scarce, and there is less water there than in the Earth’s driest deserts, scientists say it is possible to grow food, make breathable air and harvest energy from solar panels.
Space travel companies such as Elon Musk’s SpaceX are set to facilitate the growth of the human presence on Mars. Their vision is that by 2040 there should be a thriving colonial Martian town.
But the bottom line is that only the wealthy will have the means to move to Mars. Travel tickets for the 6 month journey to Mars is about half a million dollars per person. Then it would take 15 launches of the largest payload rockets to get enough food water air and basic necessities to live there for a couple years. In other words, anyone unable to afford the expensive relocation to Mars would have to be stuck on earth in the case of an apocalypse.

Therefore, our hope of escape in these last days is in building a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ.
Just as Noah built an ark of safety from the flood, Jesus is the ark that will deliver men from the wrath to come. We purchase our ticket to that Ark through the spiritual investment of spending time in studying the Word, prayers and fasting.
Jesus said in Luke 21:36 ‘Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man’

The main purpose of praying and fasting is to draw us closer to God and develope deeper intimacy with Him that guarantees the flow of other blessings into our lives.
A strong relationship with God is what will enable us to live in dominion and power and occupy until Jesus comes. We are not permitted to live in defeat or mediocrity because Jesus is coming for a glorious Church, without spot or wrinkle. The last days is our time for living in holiness, breaking forth on every side and flourishing despite the hard times. While gross darkness covers the earth, glory will cover the Church.
Therefore in this season of prayers, let us be deliberate in building greater intimacy with God, so that we can be empowered to go forth this year to do exploits and take territories for Christ.

PRAYER: Lord, please grant me the grace to persevere in prayers and to continually seek You with all of my heart so that I can be empowered to do exploits for You this year in Jesus Name.

Luke 4:18 ‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.’

In 1996, a story was widely reported in many Christian media outlets of how an entire village in Thailand became Christians after a prayer for rain.
Lun Poobuanak was a native missionary that served in a small village in Kalasin Province in northeast Thailand. For a long time, Lun Poobuanak preached the Gospel among the Buddhists and animists in this village, without much result.
Kalasin Province is a rich and fertile agricultural area, however, in 1994, a drought overcame the area and there was a lack of harvest. The situation gradually became desperate.
Though many people in the village had been unwilling to accept the Gospel, as the drought worsened and they ran out of solutions they decided to come to meet the missionary who had been preaching about his miracle-working God.
One Sunday morning, while, Lun Poobuanak was holding a service, the leaders of the village came to the Church with their request. They told Lun Poobuanak that if his God would give them rain that month, all the households in their clan would accept Christ and become Christians.
Lun accepted the challenge. He then rallied together the Christians in the Church and they immediately began to fast and pray asking God for rain. On the fourth day a storm came with such intense rain that filled the rice fields and saved the crops.
This manifestation of God’s power marveled the people and made all the families in the village, to become Christians, as they had promised. It also convinced many other unbelievers in the province to come to Christ.

We are living at a time when many people are facing insurmountable challenges and desperately looking for solution-providers.
As believers, God has raised us for such a time as this to be difference-makers. Through manifesting God’s power of deliverance, we will point men to our Christ.
Christianity is not a mere religion, it is living and walking in the supernatural and positively affecting the lives of men.
Therefore, beyond focusing on our personal needs, this fasting season should also be a time to positively impact people around us. It is time to pray for the sick and minister to the troubled.
The anointing we contact in our time of fasting and praying can be used to address their lingering problems and bring about a positive change.
After Jesus returned from His 4o days fast, He went into the synagogue and announced that He had been anointed ‘to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.’[Luke 4:18].
The anointing is for service. Therefore as we are empowered through waiting upon the Lord this month, let us become channels through which God’s power will flow to touch the world.
It is certainly our time to be game-changers, trail-blazers and solution-bringers in our environment.
This year we shall be distinguished by the anointing. While gross darkness covers the earth, our paths will only keep shinning brighter and brighter. While men say there is a casting down, we will be saying there is a lifting up. While many are suffering breakdowns, it will be our time of breakthroughs and breaking forth on every side.

PRAYER: Lord, please enable me to become a channel for the flow of Your power to my generation. May Your anointing distinguish me throughout this year and beyond in Jesus Name.
