In the early 1960’s, Lila Torres and her husband left their modest life in Puerto Rico and moved to New York City in search of prosperity. But their dream soon turned into a nightmare when their young son, Victor, was initiated into the “Roman Lords” street gang and became addicted to heroin. At twelve years, he stabbed a man in the chest and by age of seventeen, he had been imprisoned three times.
Lila Torres desperately searched for a solution to her son’s situation. She even reached out to a witch but nothing worked. A friend introduced her to a Church where she encountered Christ, and learned about the power of prayer. Seven days a week and twice on Sundays, she would go to the church and pray to God to save her son and make him a pastor. Initially it seemed what she was praying for was impossible because Victor became worse and was sent to rehab fourteen different times, before the age of 20. His mental health issues were so great that he wanted to commit suicide.
But Lila never gave up; she kept praying and prophesying over him. Then God began to move. One day Victor almost died from heroine overdose and was taken to a Christian rehab center. There, God touched Victor’s heart and set him free from drug addiction and he surrendered his life to Christ.
Just as his mother had prayed and prophesied, today Victor is the founder and pastor of New Life Outreach International Church in Richmond, Virginia. He has established drug rehab facilities all over the United States, and has outreaches to drug addicts and gang members.

Why we should never give up in our prayers is because we often face our greatest battles on the eve of our greatest victories.
In 1 Samuel 16, Prophet Samuel anointed David to be the next king when he was still a youth, but thirteen years went by, and there was no sign of it happening. Rather trouble seemed to surround David as he was pursued up and down by Saul. He faced perhaps his worst day after the Amalekites destroyed their home at Ziklag, captured their families and his own men turned against him and talked about stoning him.
In that dark hour, David must have wondered if the promises of God would ever manifest in his life. But rather than become depressed, David encouraged himself in the Lord and pursued the Amalekites until he recovered all that he had lost. And just three days later, in the very next chapter [1 Samuel 31] king Saul was killed in a battle. David soon became the king as God had promised him.
The point is that David was closest to the manifestation of God’s promise when he faced his greatest challenge. Sometimes when it seems like everything is coming against you, it may just be because you are at the verge of your greatest victory.
Weariness is a strategy the enemy often uses to try to get you to give up when you are closest to your miracle. Many times breakdowns come just before the point of your breakthrough. And sometimes too, troubles would break out just before you break forth. But, we must learn to remain steadfast in prayers and keep praising God in every situation because He is working behind the scenes. As we patiently persist in fasting and praying in this season, our labor shall never be in vain. By God’s grace, nothing will hinder our breaking forth into glorious new colors this year in Jesus Name. .

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for strengthening me against weariness as I persist in the place of prayers. I know that You are working in my favor and my victory is already on the way in Jesus Name.
