JANUARY 8; MOUNTING UP WITH EAGLE’S WINGS!

Chronicles 7:14 says ‘If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.’

DAILY READING; • Acts 21:37-22:29; Judges 17-18; Psalm 43

Jonathan Edwards, was one of the greatest theologians and philosophers of the 18th century.
Born October 5, 1703, Jonathan Edwards grew up in a family dedicated to the purposes of God. Edward’s father, served as pastor and he was raised in a setting that emphasized the power of prayer.
After graduating from Yale university, Edwards pastored his first church when he was only 18 years old. His heart often yearned to see the power of God manifested and as a minister, Edwards prayed and pressed for spiritual awakening among his congregation.
Edwards was convinced from Scripture’s that God would send revival as an answer to the prayers of His people. Therefore, he labored to promote a widespread movement of prayer. In preparation for a revival he often went into seasons of fasting too.
His desire finally came into manifestation as an extraordinary revival broke out in the 1730s and 1740s, and the mighty wind of the Spirit swept through New England in the Great Awakening.
Jonathan Edwards’ prayer investment secured him a place in history as one of the most recognized and outstanding participants of this First Great Awakening, alongside other great preachers such as John and Charles Wesley and George Whitefield.

By engaging the power of fasting and praying, Jonathan Edwards helped to usher in revival and positive changes in his nation.

Chronicles 7:14 says ‘If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.’

As long as we take up the spiritual responsibility to pray, God is committed to answer and bring a positive change both in our nation and individual lives.
God has put the destiny of our nations in our hands and He is calling us to partner with Him through prayer so that we will see the changes we desire.
God has great and mighty plans for our lives, but we need to connect to that glorious future by calling to Him in prayers.
Our prayers will have even greater effect and impact when we add fasting to it.
Fasting releases the yoke-breaking anointing that facilitates speedy answers to our prayers.
As the year begins the time has come for us to engage in corporate fasting and praying to secure Heaven’s agenda for us
As we fast, God promises us in Isaiah 58:6 ‘I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it’.

Certainly, it is our season to overcome every resistance and rise to higher grounds.
As we move into this season of fasting and praying, surely supernatural lifting and promotions shall be our portion and we mount up with wings of eagles to greater heights of destiny.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for the grace to wait upon You in this season. By Your grace I am overcoming every stubborn resistance to my progress and pressing forward into the glorious destiny You have ordained for me in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 7; ENLARGE YOUR COAST!

Proverbs 11:25 ‘The liberal soul shall be made fat: And he that watereth shall be watered also himself.’

DAILY READING; Acts 21:1-36; Judges 16; Psalm 42

Timothy Richard Tebow is an American football hero who first rose to popularity for publicly displaying his Christian faith on the field.
Tim Tebow is not only a leader on the playing field, but also on the mission field, specifically in helping orphans.
His book, ‘Mission Possible’ is a powerful and inspirational book that addresses the discovery of his life’s purpose of helping others.
Tim was born and raised in the Philippines, by his parents who were American missionaries. His parents served in the Philippines for more than 30 years, and when Tim was a teenager his father took him on his first missionary trip to a remote island.
During this journey, Tim had a life hanging experience, when he came into contact with a young Filipino boy who had an extremely rare birth defect of being born with his feet backwards. This made it very difficult for him to walk. Also this boy was stigmatized because in the jungles of the Philippines where he lived his condition was viewed as cursed.
On meeting this boy, Tim felt God opened his eyes and opened his heart to have compassion. He felt that was the day he received a calling to assist disadvantaged boys and girls around the world.
This passion to help burned in Tim’s heart even as he pursued a football career. Tim would eventually become successful as a football player, and in 2010 he established the Tim Tebow Foundation, an organization that aims to help the needy.
This organization that started small has continued to grow and today it reaches more than 100,000 people in 40 countries.

When as a teenager Tim Tebow opened his heart to help others, God opened the doors for him to achieve a successful career and have the needed financial resources.
The giving grace enlarges the covenant coast of a man.
Truly, one of the ways to ensure success in life is to become a giver.
It doesn’t matter your age or financial level, when you start giving, you are creating room for blessings to flow into your life and favor to follow you.
To experience open doors, we must open up our hearts to become channels of God’s miracle to others.
We all have hearts of compassion that God wants to work through to reach people.
No matter where you are or what challenges you’re facing, you can look beyond your needs and allow God use you to bring succor to others.
When we sow into people’s lives, those seeds open doors of favor and bring the harvest that catapults us to higher levels.
The truth is that our destiny is connected to helping others.
Indeed when you water others you will be watered also. When you live to give, you will never lack God’s blessings.
Many of us may not have all the resources to do much, but we can start where we are by doing the little we can to make a difference in the lives of those around us. And what we make happen for others, God will make happen in multiplied forms in our lives.
Today, let us receive the grace to open up our hearts to help others in whatever capacity we can.
As we sow good seeds in love, we shall surely reap a harvest of overflowing blessings.

PRAYER: Lord, please give me the heart of a giver, and enable me to love people as You love them. Please help me to look beyond my own needs and be a blessing to others so that I can experience Your overflowing blessings in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 6; TRUST IN THE LORD!

Proverbs 3:5–6 [NLT] ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.’

DAILY READING; Acts 20:1-16; Judges 13; Job 41

In 1972, Charles “Chuck” Colson was special counsel to American President, Richard Nixon. At that time, Carlson was considered one of the most powerful men in America, with a reputation for getting things done no matter what the cost.
However, when the Watergate scandal broke in 1972, the ensuing trials changed his life forever.
The Watergate scandal was an attempt by the Nixon administration to cover up some dirty political tricks, such as bugging the offices of their political opponent and multiple abuses of power. The scandal led to the criminal indictments and convictions of most of Nixon’s closest aides, including Chuck Colson..
In the heat of these problems Colson began to seek the face of God and as a result he became born again.
As a new Christian, Chuck Colson voluntarily pled guilty to obstruction of justice in 1974 and served seven months in Alabama’s Maxwell Prison for his part in the Watergate scandal.
While in prison, Carlson began to have a different view of his situation.
In his best-selling memoir, ”Born Again”, Chuck wrote, “I found myself increasingly drawn to the idea that God had put me in prison for a purpose.”
At his release he announced that he would devote the rest of his life to serving God. In 1976, he founded Prison Fellowship Ministries, which delivers the message of redemption to thousands of prison inmates and their families. In 1983, he established Justice Fellowship, which is America’s largest religion-based criminal justice reform group. By the end of the 1990s, Mr. Colson had become a leading voice in the evangelical political movement, with books and a syndicated radio broadcast.
After the door closed to his career in hardball politics, God opened a better door for Chuck Carlson to spread the Gospel to millions of people around the world..

Sometimes God allows a door in our life to close because He wants to open a better one. If the Watergate scandal never happened, perhaps Carlson would not have founded the Prison Fellowship Ministries, which is positively impacting many lives today.
Closed doors, at some points is inevitable in life, what matters most is how we view the situation.
When we want to advance or move forward in life, and a door shuts before us, it can be deeply frustrating.
We may focus so much upon the closed door that we fail to see the greater opportunities that. has opened before us.
When we know that God is in control of our lives, we learn to look beyond the obvious and trust Him in every situation.

Proverbs 3:5–6 [NLT] ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.’

If we will seek God’s face, we will always see a way forward.
God is in control of the doors in our lives.
Sometimes, the doors that have been closed, were not by accident. It could be that God is saving you from a future calamity which you cannot currently see.
Sometimes also God can allow doors to close so we can take time to grow spiritually, and be prepared for a higher level of destiny.
Anytime we face a closed door, the best thing to do is to seek the key of knowledge from God’s Word. When our heart is filled with the Word, we will begin to see new possibilities, and have the faith to step forward into doors of greater opportunities.

PRAYER: Father please help me to always seek Your Will in every situation. Please grant me the grace to keep pressing forward no matter what trials may come my way. I thank You for causing me to triumph always in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 5; FOLLOW THE DIVINE PLAN!

Proverbs 19:21 ‘There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.’

DAILY READING; Acts 19:21-41; Judges 11:34-12:15; Job 40

Anna Tomaseck was a young Christian girl, just finishing her nurses’ training, when she felt God calling her to serve in India. She delayed answering the call until she became ill with tuberculosis and was near death. When God miraculously healed her, she realized that her life had been preserved for a purpose. So she answered God’s call and went to serve in India. There, she spent 10 years using her nursing skills in schools and hospitals.
God gave her a vision to raise unwanted children, who had been deserted or orphaned. Anna’s ministry started as she opened a home for unwanted children. Because the home was close to a strip of land separating Nepal and India, it became known as “the Last House in India.”
At that time Nepal was closed to missionaries or any type of evangelization. However, the border patrols allowed those seeking medical help or bringing a child to “The Last House” to cross freely.
Anna raised about 420 children within 40 years. She brought the children up with teachings of Jesus and His love.
Several of the Nepalese babies she raised up later became leaders and helped to spread the Gospel in their nation which had been hitherto closed to Christianity.
Anna Tomaseck is credited with opening the doors of Nepal to the Pentecostal movement as much of the leadership of the Pentecostal churches In Nepal traced their roots back to her ministry.
In a remote part of the world, where missionaries were denied entrance, God used Anna Tomaseck to raise unwanted babies who would grow up to build the Church in India and Nepal.

We do not have to fall sick like Anna Tomaseck or have a dramatic encounter before choosing to answer God’s call.
The truth is that each of us have a divine call upon our lives and our lives will only find full expression when we choose to follow Gods purpose.
God’s plans are always better and far greater than what we could ever achieve on our own.
In His plan, grace, favor, supernatural opportunities and divine connections are all lined up to help us arrive at our preordained place of glory.
However, frustration in life results if we leave God’s plan to follow our own paths. No matter how beautiful our own devices, it is only God’s plan that can stand the test of time.

Proverbs 19:21 says ‘There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.’

The counsel of the Lord will always be superior to our concepts. His thoughts and ways are higher than our own. When it is the Lord doing a thing, it will always be marvelous in our eyes. This is why we must never allow anything to hinder us from answering His call.
As this year begins we need to re-examine our hearts to see if we are truly living for God or living for self.
To enjoy divine open doors, we must purpose to pay the required price of following God’s plan for us this year. You can’t give yourself wholly to Him and not experience glory in your story. Indeed you can’t be truly sold out to God and not stand out on the earth.
Therefore this year, service to God must be our distinguishing identity because that will be the pathway to greater open doors.
As you begin to walk in faith following what God has put in your heart, miracles will follow.
As we seek God’s counsel through consistent study of the Word, prayers and fellowship with the Spirit, it is only a matter of time before we see the full manifestation of His glorious plan for us this year.

PRAYER
Father, I thank You for granting me the grace to follow Your plan for my life. Please help me to do what is spiritually required of me in order to see Your purpose manifest in my life this year in Jesus’ Name

JANUARY 4; VICTORY BY THE BLOOD!

Luke 10:19 ‘Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you..’

DAILY READING – Acts 19:1-20; Judges 10:1-11:33; Job 39

In 1606, a chain of eighty islands were discovered in the South Pacific sea.
These islands were inhabited by people whose existence had been unknown to the rest of the world for centuries.
Missionaries who tried to bring the Gospel to these people found their lives endangered because of the forces of darkness that prevailed on the islands.
In 1858, Scottish missionary, John G. Paton set sail to the islands to preach the Gospel, convinced it was God’s will for him.
As he worked among the natives, many attempts were made to kill him, but he was a courageous man who was able to survive through the power of Christ.
On one occasion when Paton was preaching in one of the villages, three sorcerers stood up and declared that they could kill him by witchcraft, if only they could get possession of any piece of fruit or food of which he had eaten. Being confident of God’s power, Paton took a bite out of three plums, and handed one to each of the men. The natives were astounded at his action. The sorcerers then proceeded with their incantations. With many gesticulations and mutterings, they rolled the three plums in leaves, kindled a fire and burned them. The people immediately expected to see Paton fall over dead , yet nothing happened to him.
“Stir up your gods to help you,” urged Paton. “I am not killed. In fact I am perfectly well.”
The sorcerers then said they would call all their other colleagues together and that they would kill the missionary before the next Sunday service. But Paton assured the people they would meet him alive by the next Sunday morning. Great excitement prevailed on the island. Every day messengers came from different quarters inquiring if the white man was ill.
When Sunday morning came ,Paton appeared before the astonished people in sound health. He said to them “Now you must admit that your gods have no power over me and that I am protected by the true and living God. “
His testimony greatly impacted the people as they saw indeed the superiority of the power of God. Paton’s faith in God’s Word had given him divine immunity so that the evil attacks of the sorcerers had no effect on Him.

One of the signs that follow those that believe is that they will drink deadly things, it shall not hurt them [Mark 16:17-18].
Through redemption and our new positioning in Christ, the Blood of Jesus has become our defense against the schemes and plots of the wicked. No matter how much they fight against you, God has promised in Isaiah 54:17 ‘No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn’.
When you sincerely lay claim upon this Word, it will certainly become your reality.
Through faith in the Word, we can tread upon serpents and scorpions and over every power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt us.
The truth is that great and effectual open doors also come with great adversaries. This is why we must be spiritually fortified to deal with the oppositions.
Especially in these last days, we are living in an era where every child of God needs to continually manifest the supernatural in order to survive. These are evil, climatic and perilous days and only the spiritually strong can thrive. To be victorious, we must be committed to building up our spiritual depth in Christ.
It is unto every man according to his faith. What you believe is what you will receive in life. Therefore our minds must be continually renewed through God’s word; for us to live in victory.
Our deliverance is indeed a function of what we believe. And the extent of what we can believe will be as a result of our depth in God’s Word. Truly, our faith is the victory that will always overcome the world. It is the entrance of God’s Word that gives the light that shines in darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it.
Through faith in God’s Word, it doesn’t matter how many people gather against you, they will surely fall for your sake. Any pit they dig for your downfall, they will fall into that same pit themselves.
Through the power in the Blood of Jesus, we are guaranteed deliverance and fortified against the enemies of our open doors. Surely this year, our story shall only be forward ever and backward never!

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You that through the power in the Blood of Jesus, I am guaranteed victory over the adversaries of my destiny. Please help me to grow in faith in Your word, so as to triumph always in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 3; BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS!

Joshua 1:9 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

DAILY READING; Acts 18; Judges 9; Job 38

Henri Dunant was a 19th century Swiss banker and business man. He was also a committed Protestant Christian, whose faith played a prominent role in his life and led him to engage in charitable activities.
In the summer of 1859, he was sent by the Swiss government to meet the French Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte, to work on a business deal. But when he arrived Italy, he was informed that Napoleon was off fighting a war against the Austrians in Solferino, Italy.
So Henri headed to the battlefront. He got there just in time to see the thundering charge of Napoleon’s troops. Dunant had never before witnessed the ghastly carnage of war and he watched in horror as cannonballs tore through human flesh, and acres of land became heaped with maimed and dying men.
At the end of the battle, nearly 40,000 wounded men begged for help on the battlefield. Henry Dunant was so devastated that he forgot his meeting with Napoleon and remained at the battle front for weeks helping doctors tend to the wounded.
Realizing that thousands of lives would be lost within the following days due to a lack of medical aid, Dunant helped to organize arrival of more doctors and hundreds of women who worked as nurses, cooks, and laundresses to help the wounded.
Dunant tirelessly organized supplies, and wrote letters to military headquarters, as well as to personal friends, asking them to send clothes, bandages and medication.
The bloody battle he witnessed inspired Dunant to publish a book in 1862, asking for the creation of an international organization to care for those wounded in war. This eventually led to his founding of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, which today is the world’s largest humanitarian network.

Henri Durant was just a banker, but his willingness to go beyond the line of duty and help others opened a door for him into history s Hall of Fame.
Doors of opportunity in life don’t always appear in the way that we believe or hope they will.
Seeing the carnage of war was unappealing, frightening and repulsive, but Durant’s desire to obey God and help humanity, overrode his personal feelings.
Similarly, when opportunity is knocking at your door, it might seem frightening at first; but when we are dependent upon God, He will give us the courage to go through it.
When God was opening the door before Joshua to lead Israel into the promised land, He said in Joshua 1:9 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
When we can recognize the door of opportunity that God has opened before us and step into it, He will help us achieve incredible results.
This year, we should pray that God would help us recognize when and where He has opened doors of opportunity before us.
It may be something that will take you out of your comfort zone and greatly stretch your capacity. But when you have ascertained through prayer that it is the Lord’s Will, be bold and courageous to step out. When the Lord is the One opening the door, He will go ahead of you to break the gates of brass and cut the bars of iron asunder. As you walk by faith, you will be ushered into higher levels of destiny and experience blessings beyond what you could have ever imagined.

PRAYER: Father, I am grateful for this brand New Year and the great opportunities You have set before me. Please enable me to be spiritually sensitive so as to experience a full manifestation of the great things You have in store for me in Jesus’ Name.

JANUARY 2; STEPPING INTO OPEN DOORS

Revelation 4:1-3 ‘After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.’

DAILY READING; • Acts 17:16-34; Judges 7-8; Job 37

Lopez Lomong was born in a small village in South Sudan in the midst of the Sudanese Civil War.
When he was six years old, Lopez was kidnapped from his village by rebel militia. Rebels snatched him from his mother’s arms during a church service, intending to turn him into a child soldier.
He was imprisoned at a rebel camp where he watched other young captives die. That was when he and three other boys planned their escape. In the dead of the night, Lopez and the three boys slipped through a prison fence and ran for their lives!
They ran for three days and sixty miles, without food, eating only fruits, until Kenyan Border Patrol found them and took them to a refugee camp. Lopez spent the next 10 years in the refugee camp, going to school and playing soccer.
In the refugee camp they had to eat only one meal a day and Lopez was always hungry. He began running the 18-mile perimeter of the refugee camp to keep him from thinking about food and also to stay fit for playing soccer.
During this time, Lopez made a commitment to live for Jesus and have a deeper relationship with God.
When Lopez turned 16, a remarkable opportunity opened. He was among 3,800 displaced kids chosen to live with families in the United States .
In 2001 he was adopted by Bob and Barbara Rodgers from Tully, New York and moved to the United States.
Running around the refugee camp had horned his athletic abilities and while in high school he showed the kind of range and ability that soon qualified him to compete in Athletic Championships.
He became a U.S. citizen in July 2007 and one year later he qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in the 1500 meters.
Since then he has been setting athletic records and is celebrated as an Olympic star.
Lomong has also written a book, called “Running for My Life’, where he narrates his long and epic life journey.

The decision to seek God, despite the hopelessness of his situation ultimately changed the story of Lopez Lomong.
To achieve great results in life, we need God to open great and effectual doors for us that no man can shut.
As the new year begins, we might feel elated, inspired and hopeful to achieve greater things and overcome challenges of the past year.
However to triumph over challenges, we need specific keys that can open those closed doors, that hindered our progress in the past.
Keys, spiritually, talk about revelation knowledge and insights from the Word of God that we apply to get out of challenges.
As we draw closer to God, and seek His Word, He will show us what to do to see the results, we desire.
This year, you can achieve all God has ordained for you, if only you are willing to pay the price of ‘coming up hither’ in your spiritual walk with Him.
The truth is that all you need in life to succeed is your strong connection to God. It’s not what you have, but who you have that matters. And when God is with you, nothing and no one can be against you.
You may look around you and feel you have nothing, or you may think you have no one, but never forget that you have God. And one with God is majority.
Therefore do not limit yourself or allow your circumstances to weigh you down.
Life is a battle, and you will only receive what you demand for.
So demand for the best of God’s plan for you, do not settle for anything less.
And with God’s help, as you step forward into this year, you will be stepping into open doors of progress, divine health, greater opportunities and unending blessings.

PRAYER: Lord, I know with You nothing shall be impossible. Please help me to always focus on your Word so that I can possess the faith to step out into this year and achieve all that You have ordained for me in Jesus Name. .

JANUARY 1; SHOWERS OF BLESSING!

Ezekiel 34:26[AMP] “I will make them and the places around My hill (Jerusalem, Zion) a blessing. And I will make showers come down in their season; there will be [abundant] showers of blessing (divine favor).”

DAILY READING; Acts 17:1-15; Judges 6; Job 36

It is a New Year!
To God be all the glory!
While Christians go to Church to commit the New Year to God, it is interesting to note how different societies attempt to ensure a successful New Year by following certain traditions.
For example, on New Year’s Day people in Japan eat fish which are able to swim against strong currents, believing that this will enable them to overcome strong currents of problems in the coming months.
In Greece it’s tradition to hang an onion outside the door on New Year’s day because it is believed to symbolize fertility and growth.
In Italy, it’s considered good luck to be wearing red undergarments on New Year’s day,, because a bright color means a bright future ahead.
In Denmark, it is tradition to break plates and cups, because they believe that the more broken kitchenware you accumulate on your door step, the better off you’ll be.
People in Hungary eat roast pig, believing that this will bring them good fortune and health in the coming year.
In America a lot of people eat black-eyed peas and greens on New Year’s Day in an attempt to ensure a year of health and wealth.

These traditions show that people are desirous to ensure their new year is successful.
Indeed we all desire to improve our lives with each New Year. But the question is; how can we successfully achieve that. Each one of us starts the new year with the same number of opportunities—365 days—that we can choose to either use well or allow to waste.
Wasted life is really nothing more than a collection of wasted days. We must therefore decide to make the most of the days before us.
Every year offers us a chance at a new beginning and offers us new hope. However, we must understand that without the Lord, 2023 will just be another year, with failed goals and unkept resolutions.
While God has blessings and bountiful goodness for His people, we must walk in His path throughout this year, because Psalms 65:11 says His paths drop fatness.
It is the paths of the Lord that drips with fatness—not ours. While many people may be starting off the year with their own plans of pursuing wealth, comfort, and advancement, those paths have no guarantee of success.
The path of the Lord is the only one that will shines more and more and guarantees success and security.
As we are willing and obedient, to His Word, God ensures we will eat the good of the land.
When we obey Him we will spend our days in prosperity.
Therefore to ensure we have a successful year, we must be willing to walk in close fellowship with God every day.
God says in Ezekiel 34:26[AMP] I will make them and the places around My hill (Jerusalem, Zion) a blessing. And I will make showers come down in their season; there will be [abundant] showers of blessing (divine favor).
The places around God’s habitation has showers of blessing and goodness; so when we stay close to God each day of this year, we will experience abundant blessings, because in His Presence is fullness of joy; and at His right hand there are pleasures for evermore”[ Psalm 16:11]

PRAYER: Father, I thank You for this new year and new season of life. Please help me to pay the required spiritual price so as to align with Your plans for me this year so that I can experience the blessings You have ordained for in Jesus Name.

DECEMBER 31; GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESSS!

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NASB) ‘The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.’

DAILY READING Acts 16:16-40; Judges 4-5; Job 35

As the year rounds up today, major media reports are focusing on the top News Headlines of 2022.
These top Headlines includes, the surge of inflation in countries around the world, spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant, the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, leading to global crises for both food and energy, as well as displacing millions of people, record-breaking heatwaves and extreme high temperatures around the world leading to devastating wildfires, Europe’s worst drought in 500 years, flooding in Pakistan etc.
Indeed 2022 has been a year like no other. Economic, environmental and geopolitical turmoil have defined the past 12 months.
According to the World Food Programme (WFP), right from the beginning of 2022, the number of hungry people around the world shot up from 282 million to around 345 million.
And by October 2022, the Executive Director of WFP warned “We are facing an unprecedented global food crisis and all signs suggest we have not yet seen the worst”.
Indeed, 2022 has been a year of economic hardship where many people tried to cope with the impact of the worsening global conditions.

However despite all the negative news in the world, many of us as believers can testify that God has been good to us this year.
It seems while darkness prevailed in Egypt, we as God’s people in Goshen , have been dwelling in the light. Somehow God has preserved us from evil and blessed us on every side.
Yes, we may have sometimes faced tough battles in 2022, but somehow God always made a way for us to emerge victorious.
This is why, on this last day of 2022, we must deliberately look back and say ‘Father thank You’.
Truly, God has been good to us. If it had not been for The Lord on our side, where would we be?
Left to your enemies, you will not be witnessing this last day of the year, but see what the Lord has done! Here you are, still alive and standing strong! Despite all their wicked arrows sent against you, God’s power has preserved you.
Though you may not have seen all your goals for this year fulfilled, you must be grateful for life, for health and promise of tomorrow. And if perhaps you lost anything, certainly, God is the reason why you did not lose everything.
Indeed we must be appreciative of all that God has done. With appreciation comes adoration, worship and praise.
As we get ready to crossover to the next year, let us ensure we remain thankful, praise-full and joyful trusting that just as God has preserved us this year, we will yet see His greater grace and mercies in the coming year.

PRAYER: Lord, I am truly grateful for Your faithfulness to me this year. As I prepare to crossover to the New Year, may nothing ever stop the continual flow of Your praise from my mouth in Jesus Name.

DECEMBER 30; HE HOLDS OUR FUTURE!

Isaiah 42:9 ‘Everything I prophesied has come true, and now I will prophesy again. I will tell you the future before it happens.”

DAILY READING; • Acts 16:1-15; Judges 2-3; Job 34-

Today, in many Newspapers, magazines and online News outlets are various predictions about 2023.
It is a long-standing tradition among scientists, engineers, industrialists, and other experts in their field, at the end of each year, to make predictions about the next year.
While some of these predictions have proven to be right, many of them usually turn out to be wrong.
History has records of some of these predictions that were dead wrong and demonstrated spectacular misjudgment, despite being made by experts who had vast inside information about their industry.

Bill Gates, co-founder and chairman of Microsoft
said in 1981: “No one will need more than 637KB of memory for a personal computer. 640KB ought to be enough for anybody.”

Darryl Francis Zanuck , legendary American film producer and founder of 20th Century Fox predicted in 1946: “Television won’t be able to hold on to any market it captures after the first six months. People will soon get tired of staring at a plywood box every night.”

Robert Metcalfe, founder of 3Com said in 1995, “I predict the Internet will soon go spectacularly supernova and in 1996 catastrophically collapse.”

In 1936, New York Times predicted “A rocket will never be able to leave the Earth’s atmosphere.”

As we can see, history has proved these forecasts to be totally inaccurate.

While men can make intelligent and calculated predictions, ultimately no man knows exactly what the future holds.
With the rapidly changing scenario in the world today, no expert or analytical data can give a clear prediction for next year.
Only God knows what is ahead.
As we prepare to step into the New Year and wonder what it might have in store for us, we can trust our all-knowing and all-loving God, to be in perfect control.
And even though we might not know what the future holds, we are glad that we serve the God who holds the future.
King David said in Psalm 31:15 “My times are in your hand”.
Likewise we can boldly stand and declare today, ‘O Lord; you are my God; my times are in your hands!’
While no man knows tomorrow, as believers, we have the privilege of receiving divine direction to guide us in the coming year.
As we earnestly seek God, He gives us intimate details about the future as it concerns us, which enables us to avoid pitfalls and succeed in our endeavors.
And one of the ways of receiving clear divine instructions is by spending time in worshipping God.

Isaiah 30:29-30 says ‘Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the mighty One of Israel. And the Lord shall cause his glorious voice to be heard…’

God’s glorious voice is heard when we spend quality time in worshiping Him in spirit and truth. As we hear His glorious voice, we receive clear instructions and directions.
Therefore today, instead of worrying about the future, let us rather worship. In the place of praise we become surrounded by Gods Presence, which will make all the difference for us as we step into the new year.

PRAYER: Lord I know that because You live, I can always face tomorrow. Thank You for the grace to keep praising You in every situation, because I know that indeed all things are working together for my good in Jesus Name.
