Lamentations 3:22-23 (NASB) ‘The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.’
DAILY READING Acts 16:16-40; Judges 4-5; Job 35
As the year rounds up today, major media reports are focusing on the top News Headlines of 2022.
These top Headlines includes, the surge of inflation in countries around the world, spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant, the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, leading to global crises for both food and energy, as well as displacing millions of people, record-breaking heatwaves and extreme high temperatures around the world leading to devastating wildfires, Europe’s worst drought in 500 years, flooding in Pakistan etc.
Indeed 2022 has been a year like no other. Economic, environmental and geopolitical turmoil have defined the past 12 months.
According to the World Food Programme (WFP), right from the beginning of 2022, the number of hungry people around the world shot up from 282 million to around 345 million.
And by October 2022, the Executive Director of WFP warned “We are facing an unprecedented global food crisis and all signs suggest we have not yet seen the worst”.
Indeed, 2022 has been a year of economic hardship where many people tried to cope with the impact of the worsening global conditions.
However despite all the negative news in the world, many of us as believers can testify that God has been good to us this year.
It seems while darkness prevailed in Egypt, we as God’s people in Goshen , have been dwelling in the light. Somehow God has preserved us from evil and blessed us on every side.
Yes, we may have sometimes faced tough battles in 2022, but somehow God always made a way for us to emerge victorious.
This is why, on this last day of 2022, we must deliberately look back and say ‘Father thank You’.
Truly, God has been good to us. If it had not been for The Lord on our side, where would we be?
Left to your enemies, you will not be witnessing this last day of the year, but see what the Lord has done! Here you are, still alive and standing strong! Despite all their wicked arrows sent against you, God’s power has preserved you.
Though you may not have seen all your goals for this year fulfilled, you must be grateful for life, for health and promise of tomorrow. And if perhaps you lost anything, certainly, God is the reason why you did not lose everything.
Indeed we must be appreciative of all that God has done. With appreciation comes adoration, worship and praise.
As we get ready to crossover to the next year, let us ensure we remain thankful, praise-full and joyful trusting that just as God has preserved us this year, we will yet see His greater grace and mercies in the coming year.
PRAYER: Lord, I am truly grateful for Your faithfulness to me this year. As I prepare to crossover to the New Year, may nothing ever stop the continual flow of Your praise from my mouth in Jesus Name.
