Jemeker Hairston Thompson was regarded as one of the top contributors to the 1980s crack epidemic in the United States. Her story was the subject of an episode in the 2018 Netflix series “Drug Lords”.
In the Netflix documentary Jemeker said that from eight years old, she wanted to have money by any means because her family was evicted from their apartment and their belongings thrown outside.
While still in high school she met and married a drug lord named Anthony “Daff” Mosley. They became established among Los Angeles’ biggest cocaine dealers, lived an opulent lifestyle and ruled the streets.
After her husband was shot and killed, undeterred, Jemeker continued in the drug business. When the FBI uncovered her activities, she went on the run for two years but in 1993, they eventually tracked her down and arrested her.
The possibility of being sentenced to life in prison was a rude wake-up call for Jemeker.
Desperate for help, she turned to God, promising to serve Him, if He would get her out of the mess she was in.
To her surprise when the court ruling came, she received a far lighter sentence than she ever expected. Rather than a life sentence, she was given 180 months. Keeping her promise to God, she gave her life to Christ and turned a new leaf.
She was further surprised by God’s amazing grace when she was released from prison even before serving out her full term in jail.
After her release, Jemeker dedicated her life to serving Christ and today she is a minister of the Gospel who teaches people that God gives a second chance in life.

Jemeker’s transformed life is proof that God is able to bring forth miracles out of mistakes.
Humanity’s greatest crowning moment occurred when “Christ died for the ungodly” (Romans 5:6).
Despite the great weight of our sin, He took our place at the Cross and gave us the opportunity for a new life.
By His sacrifice the wall of separation that sin had erected between us and God was destroyed and we were “accepted in the beloved” (Ephesians 1:6).
The shed Blood of Jesus ensures that no matter how disheveled any destiny may appear, there can be restoration and divine completeness.
When Jonah disobeyed God’s first instruction and suffered the consequences as he cried out from the whale’s belly, God gave him a second chance.[Jonah 3:2) And because Jonah became obedient, God eventually used him powerfully in Nineveh.
Though we may sometimes make mistakes, as we return to God and begin to earnestly obey Him, our lives become the canvas where He paints incredible colors of His glory and grace.
Certainly, today as we make the choice to always walk in line with God’s Word, it will be our season to experience unprecedented new opportunities, amazing breakthroughs and blessings on every side.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for the transformational power available to me through the Blood of Jesus. I know indeed that by the power in the Blood, I am delivered from every hold of darkness and set free to enjoy the blessings of Your grace in Jesus Name.
