The book “Gifted Hands” tells the story of Dr. Benjamin Carson who rose from being a ghetto kid to becoming a world-renowned neurosurgeon.
In reaching his dream, he had to overcome several obstacles. As a young boy he was not smart in class, he had the lowest grades and was the butt of teasing by his classmates. But his mother made him study more until his grades began to improve and he eventually surpassed his classmates to become a straight-A student.
Another obstacle he faced was an uncontrollable anger that threatened to ruin his future. Anytime he was angry, he would go after people with sticks, hammers, or rocks.
One day, when he was 14 years old, Ben Carson had a quarrel with another boy. Blinded by fury, Ben lifted a knife and struck the boy in the belly. Fortunately, the boy was wearing a large metal belt buckle, which stopped the knife from penetrating. However, the force of the strike was such that it broke the knife into two.
Realizing that he could have killed the boy, Ben became scared and ran home and hid in the bathroom. In there, he fell on his knees and cried out to God to help him change. He spent three hours in the bathroom reading the Bible and praying until he felt God begin to transform his heart. From that day forward, the outburst of anger ended. His character continued to improve positively and decades later, Dr. Ben Carson would be known as a compassionate Christian leader who exhibits calmness, warmth and sobriety.

Our quest for Christlikeness demands a firm decision to deal with any character defect that could dent our Christian testimony.
God has predestined us to become daily more like Christ through being transformed by the renewing of our minds [Romans 12:2].
The word “transformed” in the original language is “metamorpho”, which is where we get the word “metamorphous.”
Just like a crawling worm metamorphoses into a flying, beautiful butterfly, we are destined to transform from our weak human characters to manifesting Christ-like qualities.
For this to happen we need to discipline our minds to always think in line with God’s Word.
When you begin to program your mind with what God says about you, then a transformation will take place.
Many of us are overdue for our new levels. It is therefore time to reprogram our thinking to move from a barely get-by mentality and a poverty mindset to seeing ourselves as prosperous, healthy, wealthy, and blessed beyond measure.
As a child of God, within you is victory, excellence, and overflowing abundance. Therefore, do not define yourself by your present struggles.
In the face of discouraging circumstances, keep reminding yourself of who God says you are. God’s Word says you are the head and not the tail, you are blessed, talented, and more than a conqueror.
As we keep renewing our minds with God’s Word, surely, our paths will keep shining brighter and brighter, and we will keep moving from glory to glory.

PRAYER; Father, by Your grace, I am overcoming every character weakness and becoming more like Christ every day. I thank You for unlocking the hidden potentials in me and causing me to be a blessing to mankind in Jesus’ Name.
