Looking up at the moon, it often appears like a bright beautiful ball in the sky. However the truth is that the moon is actually a dry and dark rock that has no light. What we call ”moonlight” is actually reflected sunlight because the Moon does not make its own light.
However, despite how dreary and dismal the moon is, because of the light it reflects from the sun, it appears to be glowing and beautiful.
From here on Earth, the sunlit part of the Moon usually looks bright, almost white. This is an illusion. The brightness of the Sun’s reflected light makes it difficult to see the Moon’s actual color from a distance. A closer look reveals that much of the Moon’s scenery comes in shades of dark gray, like rocks found near volcanoes on the earth. The Moon has volcanic rock from ancient lava flows ― and these dark-colored materials absorb most of the visible light that reaches them.
The moon is like a bad mirror, because it is made up of so much dark material, it reflects only between 3 and 12 percent of the sunlight that hits it.
The brightness of the moon is tied to its ability to keep reflecting light from the sun. The moment the moon stops reflecting the sun’s light, it would lose its glory and beauty and become like a dull dark orb in the sky.
Like the moon, we have no light of our own, but we appear bright and beautiful when we stay close to the Sun of righteousness. Jesus, who is the light of the world. The more we contact His light, through staying in His Presence, the more we can shine brightly upon the earth.
In Exodus 33:18-23 when Moses was on Mt. Sinai in the presence of the Lord, his face radiated with the glory of the Lord and the glow continued even after he came down from the mountain. The light that came from his face was as a result of being in God’s presence.
To reflect the glory of God in our lives, we must abide in His presence. The more we stay in the Word, the more we are changed from glory to glory by the Spirit of the Lord.. As we look upon Him, our faces are lightened and we will not ashamed [Psalm 34;5].
Certainly, glory is the answer to shame. Therefore if you are dealing with any issue of shame today, the way out is to contact the glory of God through spending time in His Presence.
Our victory and shining in life is bound to our closeness to Christ. The more we receive Him into our lives, the more we will be given the power to live as sons of God. The more we know Him, the more we will be strong and do exploits.
Without Jesus we can do nothing, but through Him we can do all things. David said ‘I am as a wonder unto many; But thou art my strong refuge’ [Psalm 71:7].
Certainly , as we make God our strong refuge by spending more time in His Presence , we will become a wonder to our world as we break forth to realms of greater glory, beauty and color.
PRAYER: Father please help me to always walk in Your light so that Your Glory can continually reflect through me. May my light so shine before men that they may see my good works and constantly glorify You in Jesus Name.
