SEPTEMBER 14; GOD WILL GO BEFORE YOU!

Isaiah 45:2 ‘I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:’

DAILY READING • Luke 11:1-28; Genesis 19; Psalm 12

In November, 1853, Dr. David Livingstone embarked on a great journey to create a path for the Gospel through the heart of the jungle to the sea.. His purpose was to carve out a road that would make it easy for other missionaries to travel on to bring the Gospel to the interior of Africa.
He spent seven months of untold hardship, moving from Linyanti, on the Zambesi, until he reached St. Paul de Loanda, on the west coast. Twenty-seven men accompanied him on this difficult journey. Dr. Livingstone suffered thirty-one attacks of fever on the way and sometimes even the men travelling with him became so disheartened that they wanted to return home.
However God continually intervened and guided them, until finally on May 31, 1854, they broke through the jungle and arrived their destination, at Loanda. They had accomplished the mighty task of blazing a trail through the impenetrable jungle. From then on, this path that Dr. Livingstone had created would be traveled on by many missionaries to bring the Gospel and civilization to the African interiors. When the news of his great accomplishment reached England, David Livingstone was greatly celebrated and awarded many honors. Yet despite his achievements, Dr. Livingstone never rested on his oars, but kept pressing forward to greater goals of spreading the Gospel. He never allowed obstacles to hinder him and is quoted as saying ”Death alone will put a stop to my efforts! Nothing earthly will make me give up my work in despair. I encourage myself in the Lord, my God, and go forward” He kept pressing forward until April 30, 1873 when he died while praying on his knees at Chitambo in present day Northern Zambia. Dr. David Livingstone, is best remembered today as the pioneer missionary who blazed the way for others to follow in Africa.

Obstacles are always part of the road map on the path to your destiny.
If you want to live your life with your potential maximized to the fullest, you must be ready to overcome hindrances and press forward to your goal. Never mind setbacks or discouragements because open doors are often accompanied by many adversaries. Stay focused on where you are going and refuse to shift your position because of oppositions.. if everything seems to be rising up against you, refuse to abandon your purpose and keep going forward. The important thing to do is to pray for the wisdom and direction to know what to do at each crossroad.
When we engage divine help on our journey, God goes ahead of us to break the gates of brass and cut the bars of iron asunder.
God said in Isaiah 45:2 ‘I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:’

In this season, God will go ahead of you to destroy the barriers to your progress. It is certainly your time to see greater open doors. Your greatest days are ahead of you because the path of the just shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day. Therefore do not rest on your oars. To receive the strength to keep pressing forward to our glorious destination we must constantly study God’s Word because that is where our strength and wisdom comes from to accomplish great exploits.

PRAYER: Father please help me to always see that You are with me even in the midst of challenges and discouraging situations. By Your grace I will keep pressing forward until I arrive at the glorious open doors you have ordained for me in this season in Jesus Name.

SEPTEMBER 13; THE GOD WHO WORKS WONDERS

!

Psalm 77:14 [ESV] ‘You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples. You with your arm redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah When the waters saw you, O God, when the waters saw you, they were afraid; indeed, the deep trembled.’

DAILY READING; • Luke 10:21-42; Genesis 18; Psalm 11

Dr Isaiah D. Reed is author of the book ‘When You Are Down to Nothing, God is Up To Something.’
His book is based on his amazing testimony of divine deliverance.
Isaiah was brought up in church and began serving God early in life. But as he grew older he bowed to peer pressure and got caught up in gangs and drugs. He later graduated to pimping and running brothels.
Though his sinful and illegal dealings made him rich, it caused his Christian parents shame and his father later disowned him. However, his mother, a woman of great faith, continued to stand in the gap and intercede for him.
On August 13, 1986, Isaiah had a misunderstanding with some drug dealers from Columbia and they shot him 2 times in his head. To be sure he was dead, they stabbed him 16 times in his upper body, and left him for dead on the street.
He was later found bleeding by the roadside and rushed to the hospital. When Isaiah’s mother got a call from the hospital that her son had bled to death she refused to receive the report. She told the doctor who had called her “I have heard your report, but I got a report right here. Let me read you my report card.” She then began declaring the Word of God and prophesied that her son would be alive by the time, she arrived at the hospital to see him.
At that very moment Isaiah was already on the autopsy table having been certified dead. But as the doctors began cutting him open to perform the autopsy, to their greatest shock, Isaiah’s vital signs suddenly began registering, indicating he was still alive. Just as his mother had prophesied, by the time, she got to the hospital, the doctors met her with the news that her son had resurrected from the dead.
But they told her they couldn’t remove the bullets out of his head and so he would have to be a vegetable for the rest of his life. Again she proceeded to pray fervently over Isaiah. Miraculously, with the bullet still in his head, Isaiah later recovered and began living a normal life.
Today, Dr. Isaiah is an international evangelist who goes around the world sharing the amazing story of his deliverance by God’s miracle power.

Dr. Isaiah reed is alive today, because his mother knew how to wield the weapons of spiritual warfare which are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.
God has given us the power to bind and loose on earth so as overturn the oppressions of darkness in our lives and in the lives of our loved ones.

In Matthew 18:18-20 Jesus says ”Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.’

As the redeemed of the Lord, we do not have to accept any report contrary to the Word of God. Anytime you receive a diagnosis different from what God has said concerning you, refuse it and declare what your portion is in Christ Jesus.
Despite, the barking of the enemy, we serve the God who works wonders and makes known His power and might among His people.[ Psalm 77:14]
He is the same God who delivered Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the fire. He is the God who brought Daniel out of the lions’ den and divided the red sea for Israel to escape Pharaoh.
Where there seems to be no way, God is able to make a way.
And today, God is making a way for you out of every tight situation.
Therefore rather than worry over negativities, let us worship and keep blessing the Lord at all times. It is certainly our season to continually overcome by the power in the Blood and by the Word of our testimony.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for the power in the Blood of Jesus. Today as I plead the Blood over my life, my family and all that concerns me, I thank You for divine deliverance and continual victory over the enemy in Jesus Name

SEPTEMBER 12; UNDERSTANDING OUR TIMES AND SEASONS!

1 Chronicles 12:32 ‘And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.’

DAILY READING • Luke 10:1-20; Genesis 17; Psalm 10

Tilly Smith is a young girl who gained international recognition for giving a tsunami warning that saved the lives of about 100 beach goers in Thailand.
In December 2004, the Indian Ocean tsunami hit the coasts of several countries of South and Southeast Asia leaving devastation and deaths along the beaches.
However everyone at Mai Khao Beach in Thailand survived because of a little girl who recognized a Tsunami was coming because she had learned about it in her geography class just two weeks earlier.
That day when ten years old Tilly Smith saw the signs of an incoming Tsunami, she alerted her parents, who warned others including the staff at the hotel in Phuket where they were staying. Due to the early warning, the beach was evacuated before the tsunami arrived. As a result of the evacuation Mai Khao Beach in Thailand became one of the few beaches with no reported casualties.
For helping to save lives, Tilly Smith later gained public recognitions from the United Nations and received several awards including the Thomas Gray Special Award. Scientists also named after her a minor planet known as ‘20002 Tillysmith’.
Today Tilly Smith’s story is incorporated into many teaching resources for children about earthquakes, tsunamis and how to stay safe.

At only ten years of age, Tilly Smith received international awards for recognizing signs of a Tsunami which led to the saving of many lives.
When you have an understanding of the seasons and know what to do, you will command attention and respect.
1 Chronicles 12:32 says that the children of Issachar were men that had understanding of the times and they knew what Israel ought to do and all their brethren were at their command.

Knowing what to do in times of criss will put you in command and give you an edge over others.
Your level of wisdom and understanding will determine the level of your elevation.
Every age has its unique challenges, but those who understand the times will lead the way for others to follow.
In these last days, the world is facing increasingly great challenges because of the perilous times, but while it is the time of gross darkness in the world, it is our season to rise and shine because our light has come.
Through the manifold wisdom of God we shall be doing exploits. Through the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit we are to dictate the pace for the rest of the world to follow.
If we don’t recognize our appointed times, we will fail to know what to do to take advantage of our seasons.
Therefore this is not the time to have an ordinary approach to our work, rather we are to continually seek divine wisdom for extraordinary accomplishments.
In this season of greater open doors, let us pray that God will enlighten our eyes and give us greater understanding of our times, so that we can apply our hearts to wisdom and maximize our days.

PRAYER; Father, please help me to accept the spiritual responsibility of seeking divine wisdom, so that I can understand my seasons and maximize my days to accomplish exploits in Jesus Name.

SEPTEMBER 11; GUIDED BY DIVINE WISDOM

Ecclesiastes 10:10 ‘If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.’

DAILY READING; Luke 9:28-62; Genesis 16; Psalm 9

John Osteen was raised in a poor family that didn’t know anything about God. Though John had a Christian friend named Sam who often preached to him, John refused to listen.
One day in 1939, when he was 17 years old, John was walking home from a nightclub at 2 am in the morning, when for some reason he looked up at the stars and began to think about God. When he got home, he went to a Bible on their coffee table kept there just for decoration. When he opened the Bible, it fell open to a page with the picture of Jesus standing at a door and knocking. The caption read, “If you open the door I’ll come in”.
The next morning John Osteen chose to open his heart to Christ. He went to church with Sam and gave his life to Christ.
John later became a pastor and served in various churches before founding the Lakewood Church on May 10th 1959.
John Osteen established a great reputation as a fiery preacher, impassioned evangelist and author of over 50 books.
After his death on 23rd January, 1999 at the age of 77, his youngest son, Joel Osteen took over the Church’s leadership. Joel grew the membership to over 52000 and by 2011 Lakewood Church became known as America’s largest megachurch.

John Osteen’s decision to open the Bible that night changed his direction in life. From a life of folly and fun-seeking, he grew up to achieve exploits and global influence.
The master plan of God for us is good success (Joshua 1:8). God is not happy seeing His children as failures because failure is not in God’s nature. However, to succeed in life, we need wisdom from God’s Word to illuminate our lives and show us the right directions to take.
Many people have missed their glorious places in life and ended up with menial positions due to lack of wisdom and direction.
Ecclesiastes 10:5-10 says ‘There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler: Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place. I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.’

Princes will walk as servants when ‘folly is set in great dignity’. When a man chooses to exalt foolishness in his life, he would lose his kingly position and end up on the floor.
As a king, Saul lost his exalted position for lack of wisdom (1 Samuel 13:13-14).
We have been ordained to be kings and priests but we need wisdom to attain and retain our throne so that servants do not take our places.
We need wisdom to be guided and directed on the profitable paths ordained for us because according to Ecclesiastes 10:10, …’ wisdom is profitable to direct..’
By God’s grace, today will mark the end of every form of foolishness in our lives. As we commit to in-depth study of the Word and seeking the Holy Spirit, surely we will receive the impartation of wisdom that will establish us in our glorious high places.
.
PRAYER: Lord, Please grant me the grace to fill my heart constantly with Your Word, so that I will receive the wisdom to excel always and reap a harvest of glory, signs and wonders this year in Jesus Name. .

SEPTEMBER 10; MAINTAIN YOUR JOY!

Romans 15:13 ‘Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.’

DAILY READING; Revelation 18; Isaiah 3-4; Psalm 109:1-19

At the age of twenty-one, in 1928, Kathryn Kuhlman and her pianist Helen Gulliford began their ministry. They traveled to towns in the West that no one else would evangelize. They begged local communities for the opportunity to preach and though she had no money or ministry support, Kathryn remained excited and full of joy. She had strong faith in God’s mission for her life. She determined not to wallow in self-pity but rather to always remain joyful, regardless of her circumstances. A few weeks into her new ministry, she slipped on the ice and broke her leg. Though doctors told her to stay off her foot for two weeks, Kathryn Kuhlman continued to preach with her leg in a cast. Being very young and a female, many felt she was not qualified to preach, but despite these criticisms, Kathryn pressed on. Life was not easy. On one occasion, the family with whom she was scheduled to stay didn’t have a place for her, and she had to sleep in the turkey house.
Her heart was “sold out” to the Lord. That was the secret of her ministry. And because she knew the secret of joy, she maintained God’s Presence around her. This resulted in the powerful manifestations of miracles, signs and wonders that trailed her and established her ministry globally.

Success is determined not so much by what life brings to us as by the attitude we bring to life.

We need to remain joyful even in the face of challenges.
Jesus accomplished His mission because He remained joyful. Speaking about Jesus, Hebrews 12:2 says ‘who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.’
Just like Jesus did, we need to despise any challenge and continually give glory to God. Indeed maintaining an attitude of Joy is important if we are to fulfill our destiny.
God has reserved the top of the success ladder for you; but Joy is God’s mystery for taking you there. [Habakkuk 3:17-19]
Your high places in life are inaccessible without joy. In tough situations, learn to encourage yourself in The Lord. Until you are excited, you don’t excel.
As we draw closer to God through His Word, He will us with joy, faith and peace through the power of the Holy Ghost. [Romans 15:13]
The flow of joy enables you to carry God’s presence. And God’s Presence is what makes you unbeatable in the battles of life.
Be determined today, that nothing would ever tamper with your joy. No matter what comes your way, keep praising God for being in control of your life and destiny. Certainly, your times are in His hands. Your health, your finances, your relationships and every likely cause of concern are in His hands.
As you chose to remain excited, pursuing your vision with joy and gladness, God will surely cause you to ride upon your high places.

PRAYER: Lord, please help to remain joyful in every situation, I trust you are in control of my life, and I know that even right now you are working out everything for my good in Jesus Name. .

SEPTEMBER 9: POWER OF WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE :

Hosea 4:6 ‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:’

DAILY READING: Luke 8, Genesis 11, Psalm 5

Fred Francis Bosworth was a Pentecostal pioneer, famous healing evangelist, musician and author who took the United States and Canada by storm in the 1920s and 1930s.
He reportedly led over a million people to Christ, and was considered by scholars and ministers alike to be one of the most successful healing evangelists of his era.
His writings on divine healing influenced many Church leaders of his day, as well many who claim healing ministries today.
However, years earlier while he was a youth, F.F Bosworth almost died due to spiritual ignorance.
Fred Bosworth was brought up by wonderful parents on a farm. By the age of sixteen, he was restless with life and struck out to be a salesman.
But he soon caught a severe cold that later developed into serious lung problems. His cough grew worse, and he lived in this condition for eight years. Finally, doctors told Bosworth that his was a hopeless case, and he would not recover. After receiving this report, he decided to visit home and see his parents once more before he died. However, the Lord had other plans. On the way, he wandered into a Methodist church where a meeting was being held. There he was prayed for and taught God’s Word which led to his healing..
This experience revolutionized Bosworth’s life and set him on the path of seeking knowledge about God’s healing power. He eventually became a great minister of the Gospel, a pioneer Christian radio broadcaster and one of the most successful healing evangelists of the 1920s.

.
The way out of every closed door is the key of Knowledge. It takes knowledge of the truth to be set free to enjoy the blessings of redemption.
And knowledge comes through in-depth study of God’s Word. It is as we continue in the Word, that we encounter the truth that makes us free. [John 8:32]
Spiritual ignorance can be likened to darkness, which is only destroyed by the light of God’s Word. Our source of light is the entrance of God’s Word into our hearts. .

God wants us to have wisdom, knowledge and understanding of His Word so as to experience deliverance from all afflictions of the enemy.
It is God’s will that every form of the rod of the wicked be destroyed from our lives. However, knowledge of the Word is the key to our deliverance. One discovered truth from God’s Word can change your life forever. This is why we must diligently renew our mind through in-depth study of the Word. We truly have to become lifelong students of the Bible and addicted to God’s Word so as to enjoy continual victory over life’s afflictions.
It is indeed God’s plan to abundantly bless His’people and bring healing and deliverance to them. However many are perishing due to lack of knowledge of what the power of God can do.
Today, people are victims of afflictions because they don’t realize that divine provisions of healing, deliverance, prosperity, protection, grace and favor can be real in their lives
But through understanding of God’s Word we will enjoy multiplied grace and divine favor which will cause us to be outstanding in all areas of our lives.

PRAYER: Father please help me to always walk in the light of Your Word, so that I can continually have dominion over all afflictions. By Your grace I shall always live victorious and triumphant in Jesus Name.

SEPTEMBER 8; EXCELLING THROUGH DIVINE WISDOM.

Matthew 7:24-25 ‘’Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock’

DAILY READING; Luke 7:1-17; Genesis 8-10; Psalm 4

In 2007, Time magazine stated that the Bible “has done more to shape literature, history, entertainment and culture than any book ever written”.
That indeed is the truth. The Bible is the most widely circulated book in the world and has been translated into more languages than any other book. The Bible is the world’s bestselling book, breaking all records known to man. An estimated 5 billion copies of the Bible have been distributed down the centuries. And in recent years over a 100 million copies are given away every year.
The influence of the Bible can be found in every department of human activity. Its contents have inspired the greatest poets, artists, musicians, scientists, philosophers, and affected every area of human endeavor. The Bible has been the mightiest factor of all in shaping the moral progress of the human race. Indeed the Bible’s influence on Western civilization has been monumental.

The Bible has been very instrumental in how life is organized on earth, imparting into men the wisdom to excel in various sectors.
The Bible is God’s wisdom bank; it is where the wisdom of God exists in printed form for men to draw from and excel in life.
Hearing the Word of God makes men to become wise .
Jesus said in Matthew 7:24-25 ‘Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man’
Anyone who listens to God’s Word will receive impartation of divine wisdom that will cause him to make progress and be prosperous.
Through divine wisdom we know what to do to easily triumph over challenges and oppositions that hinders other people.
Psalm 119:98 says ‘Thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.
Truly, wisdom is our foremost acquisition in life because everything is dependent upon our level of wisdom.
Proverbs 4:7 tells us that ‘wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding’.

When we are operating the wisdom of Scriptural principles, we become supernaturally unbeatable.
Wisdom determines our victory in every battle of life because Ecclesiastics 9:18 tell us that wisdom is better than weapons of war.
Indeed God’s Word is what turns us into living wonders. When we engage the wisdom and power in the Word, every issue of life begins to answer to us. Through the application of God’s Word we are healed, delivered, enjoy amazing open doors and have good success wherever we go.

PRAYER: Lord, as I study Your Word, please enable me to receive the impartation of divine wisdom that will cause me to excell exceedingly through out this year in Jesus Name.

SEPTEMBER 7 – POWER OF ASSOCIATION

Proverbs 13:20 ‘He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

DAILY READING • Luke 6:27-49; Genesis 6:1-7:24; Psalm 3

Park Geun-hye was the first woman to be elected president of South Korea. She was also the first female president popularly elected as head of state in East Asia.
In 2013 and 2014, she ranked 11th on the Forbes list of the world’s 100 most powerful women and the most powerful woman in East Asia.
Yet all these wonderful credentials became marred because of a wrong association she had.
The fall of Park Geun-hye resulted mostly from her relationship with a friend named Choi Soon-sil who was accused of using her closeness to the president to carry out some corrupt practices. Choi was found to have used her presidential connections to corruptly make millions of dollars.
After the scandal blew open, President Park was ousted by parliament and became the country’s first democratically-elected president to be forced from office. In 2018, she was sentenced to 24 years in prison and ordered to pay a whopping $17 million in fines after being convicted of abuse of power amongst other charges.

Proverbs 13:20 says ‘He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. ‘
Who you choose to associate with can have a powerful impact on your destiny.
In the journey of life, we need wisdom to make the right choice of associations because friends can make or mar you. Especially, when the favor of God is upon your life, all sorts of people will desire to come around you. However, it takes wisdom to differentiate the good from the bad. It takes spiritual discernment to know those who are there to help or to harm.”
Your associations determine the level you can rise to in life
Proverbs 27:17 says ‘As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.’
Anyone who is not sharpening you is hampering you. Proverbs 14:7 advises ‘Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.’
Anyone who is not adding to your life is subtracting from it. You can’t hang out with chickens and expect to soar like eagles. To fulfill destiny, you have to become selective in your friendships. Friendship is not by force. Life is too short to waste time hanging with the wrong people. Your destiny is too precious to be subjected to wrong influence.
Today, let us receive divine wisdom from the Spirit of God to make the right choices concerning our associations. By God’s grace we shall only surround ourselves with those ordained to help us become better people and arise to greater heights of destiny.

PRAYER:
Lord, please give me the wisdom to make the right choices of whom I relate with. Please uproot from around me the wrong associations and help me to be continually surrounded by destiny helpers in Jesus’ name.

SEPTEMBER 6: DIVINE SECURITY BY THE BLOOD.

Revelation 12:11 says ‘And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death’

DAILY READING: Luke 6, Genesis 2, Psalm 2.

The immune system is the body’s fighting system that helps to protect our bodies from outside invaders, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and toxins.
It is made up of special organs, cells and chemicals that fight infections.
The immune system develops cells, (antibodies), specifically designed to fight certain kinds of diseases. It then stores these cells throughout the body, waiting for the signal to send them into battle.
If viruses or bacteria are detected, the immune system communicates a warning throughout the whole body and then directs the attacking cells to destroy the invaders. The white blood cells act as an army of fighting soldier cells that move through blood and tissues, looking for foreign invaders to attack. They are fast, strong and smart. They can capture germs and even swallow them.
Apart from white blood cells, the other key players in the immune system are; the antibodies, the complement system, the lymphatic system, the spleen, the thymus, and the bone marrow. They all work together to destroy invaders.
The immune system not only fights off infections, but it also keeps a record of every invader it has ever defeated. This means it can recognize them next time and quickly move to destroy them before they cause any damage to the body.

The wisdom displayed by our immune system in fighting off invaders and keeping a record of their history is certainly amazing. However the human blood is still limited in its abilities and can never be compared to the ultimate power in the Blood of Jesus.
The Blood of Jesus has the capacity to totally eradicate both physical and spiritual invaders that fight against us.
The Blood of Jesus works ultimately to protect every aspect of our lives. His Blood not only secures our health, but it also secures our finances, family, career, business etc. Through the Blood, we constantly overcome in life.
As we partake of the communion, the Blood of Jesus enters into us to flush out every disease, poison, affliction, and demonic oppression anywhere in our system.
Every time we take the communion, we are introducing into our blood divine power that is going to electrocute every invader.
The Bible says that whatsoever defiles the temple of God shall be destroyed,
Therefore through the communion, Jesus comes into us to flog out every stranger conducting buying and selling in our body which is His temple.
The communion is a divine mystery through which we are constantly purged and purified and made fit for the habitation of the Holy Ghost.
We are meant to glorify God in our body therefore today as we partake of the communion let us be assured that anything contrary to glory will be eradicated by the power in the Blood of Jesus.
Indeed through the Blood of Jesus we have all-round divine immunity and security in our spirit, soul and body.

PRAYER:
Lord, I thank You for the divine immunity available to me through the Blood of Jesus. Therefore, today, I invoke the Blood against everything contrary to Your Will in my life. By the mystery of the Blood, I am truly an overcomer in Jesus Name.

SEPTEMBER 5; THE FAITHFUL ARE FRUITFUL!

Psalm 90:12 ‘So teach us to number our days, That we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.’

DAILY READING – • Luke 5:27-39; Genesis 1:1-2:25; Psalm 1

Frederick B. Meyer was a Baptist pastor and evangelist in England. Though he started off as a small unknown minister, he eventually wrote over 75 books, including Christian biographies and devotional commentaries on the Bible. He later became lifelong friends with American evangelist Dwight L. Moody. He was involved in inner city mission work and was also known as a crusader against immorality who brought about the closing of hundreds of saloons and brothels.
In 1878 he initiated the building of Melbourne Hall, an entirely new, independent venture, designed to evangelize people in the surrounding communities. This mission center attracted great visitors including national figures such as Hudson Taylor as well as local people. Melbourne Hall became a place of pilgrimage and a center of evangelical and missionary influence in Leicester and far beyond.
One day a young preacher approached Dr. Meyer and asked how he could one day become as influential and well known as him. Dr. Meyer responded, “Don’t waste your time waiting and longing for large opportunities which may never come. But faithfully handle the little things that are always claiming your attention.”

When we read the biographies of great men, we often find that most of them started from humble beginnings, from where they grew to eventually become great. This agrees with the words of Jesus in John 12:24, which says that except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone, but when it dies it brings froth much fruit. Indeed, for us to bring forth much fruit, we have to be willing to fall to the ground, to be buried in the unseen season of life, where we die to self and the flesh. In that place where we are unknown and unsung, God trains and prepares us for the assignment ahead. It is the place of pruning, purging and preparation. It is the wilderness journey where we experience a spiritual change of diet as we move from the leeks of Egypt to manna from Heaven.
God has a different process for preparing each of us. But the important thing is that we must pass through that place where we are pruned and proved faithful.
God rewards faithfulness. Proverbs 28:20 tells us that the faithful shall abound with blessings. We therefore have to learn to show faithfulness in little we have been assigned to, before we can be entrusted with greater things.
Where you are now is not God’s ultimate for you. But it is how well you handle today’s placement that will determine tomorrow’s blessing. We therefore need wisdom to maximize our days (Psalm 90:12)
We need the Holy Spirit to teach us to apply our hearts to wisdom because doing the best today puts us in the best place for tomorrow..
Today, let us receive the grace to serve faithfully wherever we are so that we can qualify for elevation to greater heights tomorrow.

PRAYER:
Father please help me to serve faithfully with the opportunities I have been given today, so that I can qualify to receive the greater blessings and open doors you have ordained for me this year in Jesus’ Name.

It is only when you can see God in the light of who He truly is that you can begin to walk in the overflow of His blessings. – WORDBITE 222
