Ecclesiastes 10:10 ‘If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.’

DAILY READING; Luke 9:28-62; Genesis 16; Psalm 9

John Osteen was raised in a poor family that didn’t know anything about God. Though John had a Christian friend named Sam who often preached to him, John refused to listen.
One day in 1939, when he was 17 years old, John was walking home from a nightclub at 2 am in the morning, when for some reason he looked up at the stars and began to think about God. When he got home, he went to a Bible on their coffee table kept there just for decoration. When he opened the Bible, it fell open to a page with the picture of Jesus standing at a door and knocking. The caption read, “If you open the door I’ll come in”.
The next morning John Osteen chose to open his heart to Christ. He went to church with Sam and gave his life to Christ.
John later became a pastor and served in various churches before founding the Lakewood Church on May 10th 1959.
John Osteen established a great reputation as a fiery preacher, impassioned evangelist and author of over 50 books.
After his death on 23rd January, 1999 at the age of 77, his youngest son, Joel Osteen took over the Church’s leadership. Joel grew the membership to over 52000 and by 2011 Lakewood Church became known as America’s largest megachurch.

John Osteen’s decision to open the Bible that night changed his direction in life. From a life of folly and fun-seeking, he grew up to achieve exploits and global influence.
The master plan of God for us is good success (Joshua 1:8). God is not happy seeing His children as failures because failure is not in God’s nature. However, to succeed in life, we need wisdom from God’s Word to illuminate our lives and show us the right directions to take.
Many people have missed their glorious places in life and ended up with menial positions due to lack of wisdom and direction.
Ecclesiastes 10:5-10 says ‘There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler: Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place. I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.’

Princes will walk as servants when ‘folly is set in great dignity’. When a man chooses to exalt foolishness in his life, he would lose his kingly position and end up on the floor.
As a king, Saul lost his exalted position for lack of wisdom (1 Samuel 13:13-14).
We have been ordained to be kings and priests but we need wisdom to attain and retain our throne so that servants do not take our places.
We need wisdom to be guided and directed on the profitable paths ordained for us because according to Ecclesiastes 10:10, …’ wisdom is profitable to direct..’
By God’s grace, today will mark the end of every form of foolishness in our lives. As we commit to in-depth study of the Word and seeking the Holy Spirit, surely we will receive the impartation of wisdom that will establish us in our glorious high places.
.
PRAYER: Lord, Please grant me the grace to fill my heart constantly with Your Word, so that I will receive the wisdom to excel always and reap a harvest of glory, signs and wonders this year in Jesus Name. .
