OCTOBER 12; IT IS YOUR TURNAROUND SEASON!

Genesis 50:20 ‘But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.’

DAILY READING; • Hebrews 11:23-40; Exodus 15; Proverbs 6:1-7:5

At a street corner in Pinellas Park Florida , in 1960, a 12 years old boy sat waiting for his mother. She had told him to wait there and without knowing that he had been abandoned, he sat waiting for her for the next three days. Countless people walked by this young boy sitting on the street corner, without offering any help. Finally, a Christian man who was on his way to see his son in the hospital stopped and asked him if he was okay. After learning of his situation, the man got him some food, made some calls, and within five hours he put him on a bus headed to a Christian summer camp.
At the camp 12-year-old Bill Wilson heard for the first time about the love of Jesus. One day he went to the altar and offered himself to God since his mother did not want him.
Bill felt God’s love and acceptance from that moment. The experience of knowing he was loved and wanted by God, put Bill on the path to Christian ministry. Years later, he established Metro World Ministry in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Today his ministry is America’s largest ministry to children, with branches in various nations.
Bill Wilson is a well-known speaker, author, pastor and advocate for poor, inner city children all over the world.

Bill’s story shows that your misery can be turned into your ministry and your mess can become your message.
When we refuse to allow past negative experiences to dominate our life and we rather open up our minds to new possibilities, God can use us incredibly.
We have all been hurt and maltreated in life at one point or the other; it is our choice to either wallow in the pain or turn the pain to power.
How we respond to life determines whether we are beaten or blessed, whether we are victims or victors. No matter what confronts us, we must learn to maintain a positive mindset, trusting that God is in control of our destiny.. Through faith in God’s Word, we can change problems into possibilities, and turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones.
It is God’s will for us to be refined by problems rather than to be defined by them. Indeed rather than let situations of life affect us negatively we should affect them positively. .
Through the help of God, what was meant for evil can become our positive turning point.
Joseph said to his brothers in Genesis 50:20 ‘But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.’

Indeed, God can turn around any situation for our good. The important thing is to remain connected to His Word, because it is the Word that imparts faith into our heart and faith is the victory that overcomes the world.
Faith is the key factor for a divine change of story because all things are possible to him that believes. .
Today, as we remain strong in faith and keep giving glory to God, surely, we are coming into our turnaround season where sadness will turn into gladness, mourning will turn into dancing and we will receive beauty in the place of ashes.

PRAYER: Lord, I Thank You for the turnaround miracles You are set to do in my life. I thank You Lord, for going beyond my expectations and doing exceedingly, abundantly, above all I could ever ask, think or imagine in Jesus Name.

OCTOBER 11; THINK YOUR WAY TO VICTORY!

2 Corinthians 3:18 ‘But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord’

DAILY READING Hebrews 11:1-22; Exodus 13:1-14:31; Proverbs

Dr. Lilian B. Yeoman is the author of ‘His Healing Power’ which is a collection of classic books on healing. These inspiring books were written in the 1930s, and reveal the truth about healing that Dr. Lilian B. Yeoman learned from her own personal experience.
Dr. Lilian used to be a leading doctor in New York, but when death came knocking at her door, she had no cure, nor answers.
She had become so addicted to the drug morphine that she was daily taking 50 times the dose normally prescribed for an adult male.
Her body could no longer function without it, despite the great havoc it was doing to her health.
She sought medical help and attempted medical cures. None of which made any difference
She often prayed to be delivered, but in her heart she didn’t really believe that God would heal her.
She finally came to the point where she was bedridden and death seemed eminent. When the hospitals could no longer help her, she was brought to the famous revivalist, John Alexander Dowie who had healing homes in Chicago.
Left alone for long stretches of time, she turned to the Bible for solace. As she read the Bible she saw from the pages that sickness had been dealt with through the sacrifice and atonement of Christ.
As her mind was being renewed by God’s Word, her thinking began to change and she saw indeed that God was able to heal her. As faith arose in her heart, she miraculously received divine healing and her health was instantly restored. From that moment she never again took drugs.
Dr. Yeomans gave up her medical career after being healed and for the next 40 years served as an evangelist spreading the truth of God’s healing power.

If we want to experience God’s yoke-breaking power, then we must start filling our hearts with God’s Word. Renewing our minds through God’s Word will revolutionize our lives.
Whatever we want to experience in life, it can become our reality as we begin to think in line with Scriptures.
When you study the Word in the area of healing till you begin to think divine healing, then you will experience divine healing. When you study the Word about prosperity until you begin to think prosperity, then you will indeed experience prosperity, etc.
To experience the redemptive benefits of the new life in Christ, our thinking needs to change. All things indeed are possible, but our minds need to be upgraded to be able to grasp them. We can’t keep thinking the old way and receive the new and mighty things God has in store for us. It is only as far as our eyes can see that will be given unto us.
As we begin to look into God’s Word we will receive divine illumination that will destroy spiritual ignorance and enable us experience a definite change of story.
Through the sacrifice of Christ, we have been given the power to live victoriously on earth. But it is only as we study the Word, that we will receive the faith to experience the glory that Christ died at Calvary to purchase for us.

2 Corinthians 3:18 says ‘But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord’

Truly, there’s transformation power in God’s Word.
It is the entrance of the Word that gives light and as that light shines, the darkness cannot comprehend it. Likewise as the light of God’s Word shines in our heart, there will be no hiding room for darkness, rather our lives will keep going from glory to glory.

PRAYER: Lord, by the power from Your Word let there be a forceful turnaround in my life today. Let every affliction be destroyed and let every oppression come to an end in my life in Jesus Name.

OCTOBER 10; SET YOUR MIND ON THINGS ABOVE

Colossians 3:1-3 ‘Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. ‘

DAILY READING; • Hebrews 10:19-39; Exodus 11:1-12:51; Proverbs 4

“Revelation Song” is a song written by Jennie Lee Riddle with lyrics adapted from the book of Revelation.
In 2010, the song won a Dove Award for Worship Song of the Year at the 41st GMA Dove Awards. It was also nominated for Song of the Year.
Interestingly, this extraordinary song came to Jennie Lee Riddle in the midst of her ordinary day’s routines, when she decided to set her mind on things above.
On that day, in 1999, Jennie was at home singing a lullaby to her little son. In the process, she began praying to the Lord that she wanted to catch a glimpse of Heaven, to see and hear all creation worshiping Him. She said of that time “My heart longed to focus on something far greater than my needs.’
She asked the Holy Spirit to help her write a song that reflected God’s Glory. She then put her baby down to play with his toys, picked up her guitar and began to play what was resonating in her heart.
With her mind focused on Revelation 5, where John describes his vision of the Heavenly throne room, she came up with the lines “Clothed in rainbows of living color, flashes of lightning, rolls of thunder.”
As she tried to capture the overwhelming sense of wonder and adoration as described by John, the result was “Revelation Song.
When this song was first released by Kari Jobe in 2009, it became an instant hit. Since then ‘Revelation song’ has been recorded by many other Christian artists and is a greatly loved worship song across the world.

While living in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the world, it can sometimes seem difficult to maintain a Heavenly perspective.
As we go about our daily routines, there are many happenings which can easily affect our mind and emotions, and keep us struggling with problems rather than focusing on God’s glory. But as believers we must refuse to be entangled with the yoke of bondage, of living shallow, earth-bound lives. We must choose to rise above and focus our thoughts and heart on things above.

Colossians 3:1-3 says ‘Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”

The Greek word used for “set” in this verse, means “to seek after, strive for, be intent on.”
Setting our minds is similar to setting a thermostat; it determines the climate we live in.
It can be tempting to keep on our minds on the news or social media and worry about the worsening conditions in the world, but we must always deliberately set our minds on Christ.
We must remember that Jesus says in John 16:33, that while there will be troubles and tribulations in the world, in Him we will have peace, because He has overcome the world
Again Paul writes in Philippians 4:6 “Be anxious for nothing”
We must recognize that no matter what goes on in the world God is in perfect control, therefore rather than worry, we learn to worship, trusting that He is working all things together for our good.
In the midst of earthly distractions, we grow in Heavenly mindedness by intently setting our mind on God’s Word!
Through listening, reading and studying the Scriptures and related materials, we will constantly keep our thoughts on God. And according to Isaiah 26:3, God has promised to keep us in perfect peace, when our minds are stayed upon Him, because we trust in Him.

PRAYER: Lord, please grant me renewed appetite for Your Word so that I can always keep my mind on You and maintain a Heavenly perspective. By Your grace I will never be distracted as I run life’s race in Jesus Name.

OCTOBER 9; SEEK FRIST GOD’S KINGDOM!

1 Timothy 6:17-19 ‘Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;’

DAILY READING • Hebrews 9:23-10:18; Exodus 9:1-10:29; Proverbs 3

In July 2000, Mack Metcalf won the Powerball lottery of $65 million. After years of working blue-collar jobs and living in ramshackle apartments, his life suddenly changed when he won the lottery. He then began living a life of wanton pleasure. Metcalf bought an estate in southern Kentucky and stocked it with all manner of exotic vehicles, many of them he would never drive. He bought an eccentric array of pets: horses, Rottweilers, tarantulas and a 15-foot boa constrictor.
He had a second wife whom he bought a Mercedes-Benz and a modernistic mansion overlooking the Ohio River and spent lavishly on her desires of surrounding herself with all kinds of pets. Metcalf indulged in drinking expensive exotic wines to his heart’s content. He was free with his money when drunk, that one day he gave away half a million dollars to a former girlfriend.
His wealth was spent on whatever he wanted but just three years after winning the lottery, he died of alcoholism in 2003 at age 45. His second wife also died of a drug overdose that same year.

People think that money cures problems, but if you have not developed the right mindset to handle money it can cause more problems.
It is a statistically known fact that nine out of ten people who win lotteries do not handle it well.
In the world of business there is what is called money maturity which is the process of becoming more financially responsible. Money maturity means a person has become more disciplined in their spending habits and instead of succumbing to every temptation, they take a measured and strategic approach to spending.
People who come into sudden wealth without first having developed money maturity, end up being destroyed by what should have prospered them.
No wonder the Bible says that the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
More than money maturity, it takes spiritual maturity to understand the real purpose of money and use it in a way that pleases God.
While it is God’s will for us to be prosperous, He wants us to first develop the right mindset towards money.
He wants us to understand that wealth is not to be wasted on frivolous fleshly indulgences, but for meeting our important needs, accomplishing divine purposes and blessing humanity.
We saw God’s attitude, towards wasting wealth on fleshly indulgences when He confronted the rich fool in Luke 12:16. This man after having an abundant harvest, made a plan to spend his wealth on eating and drinking and “enjoying himself” for the rest of his life.
But God came to him and said to him “You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?”
The Bible called that man a fool because according to Psalm 53:1, the fool says in his heart that there is no God, he does not acknowledge God in his affairs.
It is indeed foolishness to have wealth and have no plans to use any of it for the purpose of God’s Kingdom.
Today, let us receive grace to have the right mindset towards money. As God blesses and prospers us, our spending should not be focused on lusts and fleshly indulgences but rather investing in God’s Kingdom and being a blessing to mankind.
As we do so, our lives will overflow with greater blessings, peace and joy unspeakable full of glory.

PRAYER: Father, please grant me the grace to make Your Word priority in all my affairs. Lord, enable me to always live to please You and seek the expansion of Your kingdom first above all else in Jesus Name. .

OCTOBER 8; KEEP ETERNITY IN MIND!

Luke 21:34 -36 “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always,”

DAILY READING; • Hebrews 9:1-22; Exodus 6:28-8:32; Proverbs 2

In 2010 a landslide occurred in the Bududa District in eastern Uganda which is a region known for its coffee production. This landslide was the most severe ever recorded in Uganda.
The disaster killed hundreds of people and left hundreds more missing as it struck villages on the slopes of Mount Elgon.
Many areas in the affected villages were buried by the landslides, with houses, markets, and other public places destroyed; many roads were also blocked. After the landslide, villagers were left digging with their bare hands in the hope of finding survivors.
The landslides followed a period of unusually 7 hours of heavy rain in the region.
Days after the disaster, the people were grieved to learn that their government had been warned of the impending catastrophe by Environmental scientists. On several occasions the government was advised to relocate the endangered people but they never took any action, leading to the fatal consequence of loss of lives.
As a result of the Government inaction, many people who were directly impacted or lost family members in this disaster, had to take the government to court to claim damages.

While human governments may fail in their duty to warn their people, God never fails to warn His own people of impending trouble.
He warned Noah and his family of the coming flood and directed them how to prepare to survive it.
By faith, Noah obeyed God and prepared an ark to the saving of his house; (Hebrews 11:7).
God also warned Lot and his family of the coming destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and told them to flee. They moved by faith and escaped.
God warned the wicked people of Ninevah, the capital city of Assyria, of God’s coming destruction through Jonah. When they repented, the judgment was averted.
Today, the Bible is again giving us early warnings of coming catastrophes in the world. There have been end-time signs of pestilence, earthquakes, economic woes etc. Jesus specifically gave these warnings that would precede the end of the age. As believers, we need to take heed to His instructions so as to avoid being caught unawares.
Indeed it is not God’s will for His people to perish. This is why He has given us the signs of the times as a way to warn us and to wake us up to our spiritual responsibilities.

1 Thessalonians 5:9 says ‘For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,’
Living a life of faith and obedience to God’s Word, and following the guidance of the Holy Spirit is the way to escape the coming judgment.
We need to set our minds on things above and not be caught in the worldwide web of distractions upon the earth. We have to live with eternity consciousness and seek to understand the signs of the times as they unfold around us.
Just as Jesus told us in Luke 21:36, let us indeed watch and pray always, that we may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

PRAYER: Lord, please help me to set my mind on Your Word and take heed to the instructions of Scriptures. By Your grace, I shall remain spiritually prepared and alert through going deeper in my relationship with You daily in Jesus Name.

OCTOBER 7; REDEEMED TO STAND OUT!

2 Corinthians 6:17 ‘Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.’

DAILY READING; Hebrews 8; Exodus 5:1-6:27; Proverbs 1

One of the most notable things about America’s 16th president, Abraham Lincoln was that he never drank alcohol or smoked throughout his lifetime.
He had been born into a strict Baptist family, belonging to a congregation that forbade alcohol, tobacco, and even dancing. As a young man Lincoln made the decision to drink nothing but water.
Interestingly, he grew up during the early 1800s, when American experienced the greatest explosion of alcohol consumption in its history.
There was general acceptance that alcoholic liquors were life’s necessity. In everyday affairs they were a part of hospitality and supposed good cheer; in sickness they were regarded as sovereign remedies.
It was a period that drunkenness became the order of the day among the American populace. However, although Lincoln was born and grew to manhood in this environment, he was a lifelong total abstainer. By practicing total abstinence, Lincoln’ seemed to swim against the tide. But he was aware of the often terrible consequences of alcoholism.
In the 1830’s, Lincoln had owned a store with a business partner who liked to drink. This partner eventually spent most of the profits made by the store on alcohol. As a result the store eventually went out of business.
Having witnessed such dire consequences of alcoholism, Abraham Lincoln chose to stay away from it. He even wrote an essay on the evils of drink which was so impressive that a copy of it was printed in the newspapers.
Lincoln was known for his self-discipline, which became one of the outstanding characteristics that helped him to eventually become America’s 16th president.

As you attempt to live a godly life, there’s a constant pressure from the society to squeeze you into its mold and conform you to its standard. However, as believers, God wants us to stand out and live differently from the rest of the world.

2 Corinthians 6:17 ‘Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.’

Today, we live in a drunken world where the moral standards are swiftly being lowered. It is a world that celebrates sin and makes righteous-living appear obsolete and outdated.
While it may seem easier to fit in and do what everyone else is doing, we must always remember we’re have been redeemed to stand out as light of the world and salt of the earth..
People around you may be comfortable living undisciplined lives. They may be living immorally or dishonest in financial dealings. But as a child of God, that’s not you. You’re a person of excellence.
However, the decision to be separate from the world and live in obedience to God’s Word requires more than just mental assent. It takes courage to live differently.
This is why we need to constantly fill our minds with God’s Word, so as to be strengthened in our inner man to say ‘No’ to temptations.

Psalm 119:11 says ‘Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.’
Indeed the more we hide God’s Word in our heart, the more our minds will be renewed, and we are transformed to live exceptional and uncommon lives, different from the world around us.
As sons of God living in the midst of such a crooked and perverse generation, we must wear our godly identity boldly and determine that nothing will ever cause us to lower our standards.
No matter the pressure, keep living for Christ, stay spiritually hot and never settle for less than God’s best for you.

PRAYER:
Lord, please help me not to conform to the world, but rather through Your Word, let my life be transformed so that I can live an excellent and exceptional life and stand out in my generation in Jesus Name. .

OCTOBER 6; YOU ARE UNCOMMON AND DIFFERENT!

1 Peter 2:9 ‘But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;.’

DAILY READING – Hebrews 7; Exodus 3:1-4:31; Psalm 41

Galileo has been called the founder of modern science. He was one of the first people to examine the heavens with a telescope.
Amazingly, even though Galileo had never seen a telescope, he built his own version that was much better than the original. Using his new telescope, he discovered mountains and valleys on the surface of the Moon, sunspots, and the moons of Jupiter. His discoveries made him a celebrity.
But his discoveries also got him into trouble with the Catholic Church.
There weren’t really “scientists” as we know them today when in 1609 Galileo began his telescopic observations. By the following year, he published a small book, titled ‘The Starry Messenger‘, describing some of his discoveries: Because his ideas challenged some of the commonly accepted beliefs, it made some people angry, because they didn’t want the traditional views to be questioned.
Prior to then, it had been generally accepted that the Earth was the center of everything. But in 1609, Galileo became convinced that the Earth and the other planets orbited the Sun. Even though he was a devout Christian, the Catholic Church of that time considered Galileo’s ideas as heresy. At first they sentenced him to life in prison, but later allowed him to live at his home in Tuscany under house arrest, there he would eventually die.
300 years after Galileo’s death, the Catholic Church that had punished him admitted that he was absolutely right and gave him a post humous pardon.

Majority of people are comfortable with the status quo. They not only fear change but will often attack it. So if you want to be different, you must be ready to sail through some rough waters because you will be opposed by the naysayers.
But one of the characteristics of great men who have made mighty impacts in their generation is their refusal to be molded and shaped by the world around them. Great men are great because they chose to be different. They stand for their convictions, no matter what.
Not many people have the courage to act outwardly on what they see inwardly. Most men live lives of mediocrity and so make no real or lasting impact on the course of human history. Many prefer to fit in with the popular opinion and act like everyone else.
Today, the kingdom of God needs believers who would dare to be different and refuse to compromise and conform.
In many of His sermons, Jesus taught His disciples to think differently from what had been modeled around them.
You weren’t born to become what others want you to be. You will always have a choice in life. It’s the choice to accept the status quo, or to stand out; to be unique or to be just a part of a mass.
We must choose always to do what is right and not cower in the face of oppositions. Our choice to obey God and live by His high standards may make people ridicule us, and despise us for our faith. The apostle Paul’s critics referred to him as a madman, a fool, and a babbler.
We live in a society that wants us to conform, but we are called by Christ to be transformed, through the renewing of our mind. It is easy to want to be like everyone else, However 1 Peter 2:9 – 10 tells us that we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special (peculiar) people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.’
We must therefore make the choice to be uncommon and live by higher standards. As we do, God will reward us with uncommon favor, uncommon blessings and amazing open doors.

PRAYER: Lord, please, grant me the courage and boldness to stand out in my generation and live a life that constantly glorifies You. By Your Grace I will not conform to the world but will rather be continually transformed by Your Word in Jesus Name.

OCTOBER 5; WATCH YOUR THOUGHTS!

2 Corinthians 10:4-6 ‘For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;’

DAILY READING ; Hebrews 6:13-20; Exodus 1:1-2:25; Psalm 40

Theodore John Kaczynski was an American mathematical genius. A graduate of Harvard, at only 25 years old he became one of the youngest assistant professors in American history.
Despite all his brilliance, Ted Kaczynski shocked the world by turning out to become a terrorist.
Ted was raised by parents who were atheists and taught him to disbelieve in God. In later years, Ted’s father committed suicide and for most of his life, Ted lived as a loner. He didn’t get along with people and sometimes harbored such intense hatred towards some individuals that he wanted to kill them.
In 1969, he abandoned his academic career and moved to a remote cabin without electricity or running water in a forest area, where he lived as a recluse. Between 1978 and 1995, Kaczynski began conducting a series of attacks, using mail bombs to target academics, business executives and others. The FBI called his investigation “UNABOM” (for university and airline bomber) and the media thus dubbed the attacker the “Unabomber.”
He murdered three people and injured 23 others in these nationwide mail bombing attacks.
A 17 years nationwide manhunt began for Ted Kaczynski, which became the FBI’s longest and most expensive manhunt. He was finally caught in 1996 and imprisoned to serve eight life sentences with no chance of parole at the Supermax security prison in Florence, Colorado.
In June 2023, at the age of 81, he committed suicide while in prison.

Ted Kaczynski started out in life with great potentials, but when he allowed negative thoughts to dominate and rule his mind, he ended up as a terrorist.
The mind can be likened to the control room of life and headquarters of a man’s existence, because it co-ordinates and controls the activities of a man. Therefore we cannot allow negative thoughts to dwell there and control us because the outcome will be regrettable.
When you allow a wrong thought to stay in your mind, what you are doing is empowering it, and it can grow to the point that it begins to control you.
You need to take captive the wrong thoughts that come to your mind before they take you captive.
A “stronghold” is a thought-pattern that controls you. It’s a “stronghold” because it holds you strongly in its grip.
The only way that grip can be broken is by submitting to God through His Word.
James 4:7 says “Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”
We need to constantly resist those negative thoughts of hatred, immorality, greed, malice etc that the enemy tries to plant in our minds.
Proverbs 4:23 says ‘Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.’
When we diligently sow the Word of God in our hearts, the Holy Spirit will dominate our mind and move us towards a glorious future.
Filling our hearts with the right knowledge is the key to freedom. Nothing approximates the power of Knowledge.
It is your mentality that determines your reality. Since every seed sown into the mind finds outward expression, we must carefully guard what accesses our mind. Instead of filling our hearts with chaff from social media or other media, let us rather commit to filling our minds with the precious seed of The Word of God, so that we can reap a harvest of blessings and miracles in our lives.

PRAYER: Lord, Please grant me the grace to fill my heart constantly with Your Word. May I have a renewed desire and appetite to constantly sow Your Word into my heart so that I can reap a harvest of greater open doors this year in Jesus Name. .
