JANUARY 28; GOD HEARS OUR CRY!

Psalm 34:15 ‘The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.’

DAILY READING; Romans 7; 1 Samuel 16; Psalm 61

On June 18, 2016, The New York Post and other major News media reported the story of a mother in Colorado who saved her son from a lion.
The ordeal started Friday evening when the 5-year-old and his older brother were playing outside their home near the resort town of Aspen.
Suddenly, their mother heard them screaming! She raced to her front yard to find a terrifying sight: A mountain lion was hunched over her 5-year-old son, biting him, while the boy was struggling to get free.
The woman charged art the animal, yanked away one of its paws and pulled at her son’s head which was inside the lion’s mouth. She didn’t back down.
The mother grabbed the lion’s mouth and pried it open, freeing the boy. She then scooped him up and began running. She was able to escape with her two sons to safety.
fortunately at that moment, her husband had just returned from his evening run. He called 911 as they got into the car and sped to the hospital.
The boy was treated for deep cuts to his head, face and neck. The mother suffered bite marks on her hand and scratches on her leg.
This woman was hailed as a hero, by the media for her courage and quick action that contributed to saving her son’s life.
Indeed she had been so overcome by maternal instincts that she fiercely fought to save her son’s life despite the danger to her own life.

Motherhood is often used in the Scriptures to illustrate God’s tenacious love and protection for His children.
God says in Isaiah 49:15-17 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!’
God reacts to our distress cry as a mother reacts to her precious child. Every parent knows a distress cry from their children and once they hear it, everything else is dropped and that child receives priority attention. That’s how God feels about us.
When He hears our cry, He reacts violently against whatever may be troubling us.
David says in Psalm 18:6-9 ‘In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth… He bowed the heavens also, and came down:

God will always arise to defend us and deliver us .
However, we also know that there are times we sometimes cry and do not seem to get an immediate answer from Heaven. What happens those times when we may feel alone, abandoned and forgotten?

The truth is that God is always too faithful to fail us. When we are intimately relating to Him as His sons and daughters and walking in obedience to His Word, God will always answer us each time we call upon Him.
But if we are separated from Him through spiritual ignorance, negligence or sin, then it may appear as if our cries are not being heard.
Isaiah 59:1 -2 says ‘Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.’
Iniquities and unrighteousness can block our prayers from reaching to Heaven.
Therefore as we fast and pray , let us ensure our prayers are gaining access to God by checking our spiritual positions. As sons of God we are required to maintain a lifestyle of diligent study of Scriptures, fervent prayers, passionate worship and prompt obedience to divine instructions.
As we rightly occupy our place as God’s children, surely He will hear our prayers and answer us speedily with amazing miracles, signs and wonders.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for the grace to live as Your child by always walking in line with Your Word. As I pray in this season, I thank You Lord for hearing me quickly and answering me speedily in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 27; GOD WILL GRANT YOU SPEEDY INTERVENTION!

Isaiah 65:24 ‘And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.’

DAILY READING; Romans 6; 1 Samuel 15; Psalm 60

The book, ‘Prisoners Of Hope’ is an inspiring story of speedy divine intervention.
By 2001, Afghanistan was being controlled by the Taliban, under whose rule people were subjected to an extreme interpretation of Islam practiced nowhere else in the world.
The Taliban rule was especially repressive on women and girls in Afghanistan who were denied even the most basic human rights. They could not work outside the home or attend school.
Houses with female occupants must have their windows painted over, so that the women could not be seen from outside.
Little female children could not be treated by male doctors, etc
Around this time, two Christian women– Dayna Curry and Heather Mercer decided to leave the comforts of their homes in America to serve the oppressed people in Afghanistan.
However, within a few months of their arrival, their lives were thrown into chaos.
On August 3, 2001, they were arrested by Taliban guards for teaching the people about Christianity. After undergoing 22 hours of interrogation, they were locked up in a rodent-infested building..As news of their arrest became international news, many Christians around the world prayed for their deliverance. Their case was considered difficult, because under the Taliban, conversion to Christianity attracted a death sentence. But despite their ordeal Dayna and Heather trusted God to intervene and they spent time praying and praising God.
As the Taliban started a complicated judiciary process to decide their fate, it appeared that they faced a long drawn out trial with an uncertain ending.
But only few days after, things suddenly changed! The Taliban came under swift attack because of their involvement in the bombing of the World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001.
As U.S. troops stormed Afghanistan, the Taliban began fleeing. They moved Dayna and Heather to an abandoned prison about 80 miles away. But on that same day, bombings began falling near the building causing the Taliban to evacuate. As they fled, they hurriedly released the women telling them “You’re free! You’re free!”
Once outside, the women found that people were celebrating and dancing in the streets because the oppressive Taliban troops were fleeing the city.
After receiving information about their release, the U.S. Special Forces were able to locate them that night and whisked them away in a helicopter to safety. What would have been a long complicated Taliban trial suddenly ended, and Dayna and Heather escaped, due to God’s speedy intervention.

In Acts chapter 12, Peter faced execution after having been arrested and put in prison. As a large group of believers gathered to pray for Peter, they knew they were confronting a difficult and tough situation.
But as they began praying, Peter’s miraculous release happened faster than they had anticipated. When Peter came to the house where the saints were still praying, they could hardly believe it. Their prayers had been answered speedily!
Indeed we serve the God of speedy interventions, who says while we are still praying He will answer us.

In Isaiah 65:24 God says ‘And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.’

Just like God did it for Peter, we are about to see sudden divine interventions in this season.
As we persevere in fasting and praying, God is setting miracles into motion.
Great doors are about to open for you in ways you can’t comprehend. God is going to do it suddenly, unexpectedly, quicker than you could have ever imagined. While you are still praying about it, the answer will suddenly come looking for you.
Over that troubling health condition, you will suddenly get a breakthrough. There will be a reversal of the negative diagnosis and you will experience inexplicable miraculous healing.
Over that child that’s been behaving off-course and other issues of concern in your family, you will suddenly see a positive turnaround.
You may have been thinking it will take a long time to see these change, but God will surprise you with speedy answers.
God is about to move faster than you anticipated. This is why you must not give up praying, but keep pressing in because something miraculous is about to happen.
How we conduct ourselves in this prayer season will determine how quickly our answers will come.. Therefore let us pray with faith and expectancy, giving God all the glory for what He is set to do. It is important that we take the time to give God quality praise because praise invites God instantly into our battles. And as God arises for us, surely, every enemy must scatter.and our victory will be established.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for granting me speedy answers and exceeding my expectations in this season of prayers. Thank You Lord, for indeed being my Miracle worker, my Deliverer, my Refuge and my Fortress at all times in Jesus’ Name.

JANUARY 26; BE READY TO OVERCOME ALWAYS.

Ephesians 6;18 (AMP)
“With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all [a]God’s people.’’

DAILY READING – Romans 5; 1 Samuel 14; Psalm 59.

It was 2:30am when Chuck and Shelley Janssen received an emergency call from the state highway patrol telling them their son, Paul had been in a serious accident.
They rushed to the hospital immediately, but couldn’t see Paul because the medical team were still working on him. While waiting, Chuck Janssen opened his Bible seeking a Word from the Lord.
The Scripture that particularly seemed to resonate in him at that time was Psalm 40. Soon after reading the Psalm, the highway patrol officer came in and told them what happened. He said Paul’s car had gone off the road into a wooded area, where he had fallen out of the car and then collapsed face down into a ditch. Nearby residents who heard the accident had immediately called 911.
As Chuck listened to the officer, he realized what happened to Paul was almost a reflection of what he had just read in Psalm 40 which said “I waited patiently for the Lord. He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire. He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”
Chuck felt that God had indeed pulled Paul out of the slimy pit and out of the mud and mire! At that point, Chuck felt confident that whatever the medical verdict might turn out to be, God was fully in control.
When Paul’s parents finally spoke to the doctor in charge, he had some grave news. He said Paul had suffered severe lung injury and also had brain damage and was in a coma.
The doctors were extremely worried whether or not Paul would survive. But Chuck and Shelley refused to believe the worst, rather choosing to trust in God’s Word.
Later that afternoon they were urgently called to Paul’s room where the doctor told them that Paul’s system was crashing and he was about to die.
But Paul’s parents refused the negative verdict and simply told the doctor they were going to pray. They walked over to Paul’s bed and prayed and sang praises and proclaimed the Word of the Lord over Paul and just put his life in God’s hands.
Miraculously Paul did not die that day but survived. From that day forward his parents read Psalm 40 over him every day without fail. They believed it was the Word of God for him.
Two weeks later, to the amazement of his doctors, Paul’s condition began to improve miraculously. Before long, he had fully recovered and resumed his work as videographer and editor for the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). His restoration has been an amazing testimony that prayer works.

Although the emergency call came at 2:30am, Paul’s parents overcame the enemy’s attempt to steal their son”s life because of their spiritual alertness.
Each of us must live spiritually alert so as to overcome anytime we are confronted.
This is important because often times the battles of life come suddenly, without time for preparation. But when you live battle ready you can always be sure of victory.
Life is a warfare and not a fanfare; it is a battle ground and not a playground.
When we watch and pray the enemy will be unable to catch us unprepared.
Each of us, at some point, will face trying circumstances. We can never hope to become champions without overcoming challenges. Neither can we hope to become warriors without winning wars.
The more spiritually active we are the more victorious we will be in life, that is why the devil tries to hinder believers from maintaining a consistent spiritual life.
But whether it is convenient or not, spiritual preparation is our key to survival and victory In life.
The security of our destiny depends on the extent of our spiritual alertness.
When we maintain a spiritually fervent lifestyle, God’s Word will give us needed guidance and faith to win during trials.
God has called each of us to a life of spiritual fervency at all times.
Ephesians 6:18 says, “Pray at all times—on every occasion, in every season—in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty” (Amplified Bible).
That is how we live ready. .
As we fast and pray in this season, let us ensure that the fire ignited on our prayer Altar never burns low or goes out. Rather let our fire keep burning stronger, so that we can always be spiritually prepared to overcome life’s confrontations.

PRAYER: Lord, please help me to always maintain a lifestyle of spiritual fervency, help me to live ready, may my fire never go down or go out, and may I always be prepared to triumph always in Jesus Name. . .

JANUARY 25; RESCUED BY THE BLOOD..

Zechariah 9:11 ‘As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.

DAILY READING; – Romans 4; 1 Samuel 13; Psalm 58

The rescue of Tony Bullimore in January 1997 was one of the most remarkable survival stories of modern times.
Tony Bullimore, aged fifty-six, was one of Britain’s most experienced transatlantic yachtsmen.
In January 1997 he was competing in the Vendée Globe around-the-world race, when his yacht capsized in the Ocean.
Tony was more than a thousand miles from the nearest land. and there seemed to be no immediate help in sight.
For the next four days, he remained in an air pocket underneath the overturned yacht.
He was entombed in pitch darkness and surrounded by cold waters, with temperature close to freezing. He survived on a little chocolate and a little water.
He had to draw his breath from a few feet of air between the water level and what was once the bottom of the boat. As the air supply diminished he prayed fervently that he would be rescued.
Then on the fourth day, as he was still praying to be saved, he heard a banging on the hull. A rescue party had finally found him!
The Royal Australian Navy with modern satellite and surveillance technology had pinpointed his location and sent out a rescue team.
Tony’s first words when he emerged from underneath the yacht were, ‘Thank God, it is a miracle.’ He said, ‘I felt like I had been born all over again. I felt like a new man!.’
His story is contained in his book titled ‘Saved: The Extraordinary Tale of Survival and Rescue in the Southern Ocean’

Certainly, we serve the God who specializes in delivering from impossible situations.
Anytime we come to waters too high for us, we need to keep our hope in God’s miraculous deliverance. Despite the raging of the sea God is at work, He is making a way.
Though we may pass through the water and the fire, we are not remaining there.
God has promised in Psalm 91:14, that when we call upon Him in trouble He will deliver us.
Though Tony Bullimore’s case seemed hopeless, yet as he prayed and called upon the Lord, he experienced divine deliverance.
No matter how discouraging any situation, we must never give up or give in. As long as we can persevere in prayers God will surely answer us.
As you pray with expectations, you are about to see amazing manifestations.
It doesn’t matter how tight any condition, just dare to trust God for a miracle.
It is Jesus’ desire to deliver us from every bondage of the enemy.
Through the price He paid at Calvary we have been rescued from every oppression and delivered from every waterless pit.

Zechariah 9:11 says ‘As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.

By the Blood of Jesus we have been brought out of every imprisonment. Spiritually, every affliction is a type of imprisonment. Disease, infirmity, poverty, sin, etc., are all demonic bondages that hold people in spiritual captivity.
This was reflected in Luke 13:16 when Jesus said: ‘And ought not this woman…whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond?’

Our freedom from captivity and bondage was paid for while Jesus hung on the cross.
As a covenant child of God, always be assured that there is divine rescue for you.
Whatever tough situation you may be facing today, in your health, finances, relationships, family business etc, divine deliverance is available for you.
We are never alone in the midnight seasons of life. Jesus is always there to rescue us. His Name is Immanuel – God with us.
As we call upon Him in prayers in this season, let us be confident that He hears us. He is at work in our situation and will certainly answer us in ways that will exceed our every expectations..

PRAYER: Father, I thank You for divinely preserving me and my family in these end-times through the Blood of Jesus. Thank You precious Lord for bringing to an utter end every oppression and captivity in my life in Jesus name. .

JANUARY 24; GOD’S VOICE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

!

Acts 13:2 ‘As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.’

DAILY READING; Romans 3:9-31; 1 Samuel 12; Psalm 57

The decathlon is the most exhaustive game in the Olympics. It consists of ten track and field events and the winner is often hailed as the World’s Greatest Athlete.
At the 2008 Olympics, Bryan Clay was crowned the World’s Greatest Athlete after he won the decathlon, by scoring one of the highest marks in its history.
But Bryan Clay is an unlikely hero because he was the smallest among the other competitors. In fact his small stature of 5 feet 11 and 185 pounds makes him the smallest decathlete in the history of the Olympic Games.
Yet, Bryan beat other competitors by a margin of 240 points, which is the largest margin in decathlon since 1972.
Bryan’s amazing feat is a testimony of the power of prayer.
While growing up, Bryan became full of anger and resentment because of his parents divorce. He was violent, used drug and was kicked out of school several times for beating up students and even a teacher.
Bryan’s life seemed to be headed for self-destruction but everything changed when his mother became a born-again Christian. She was a prayer warrior who continuously prayed for Brian and never lost hope. She was especially inspired because of a vision where God showed her that Bryan would one day become an Olympic champion and win a gold medal.
Though this vision appeared impossible as Bryan remained rebellious and self-destructive, she trusted God’s Word and kept praying.
To help curb his violent habits, she involved Bryan in sports. Soon Bryan developed a love for running and got registered into Azuza Pacific, a small Christian school with a great track program. But even there, he kept getting into trouble for partying in school, falling behind in classes and not doing well in his sports.
His mother’s prayers were answered when, one day Bryan suddenly got tired of his self-destructive tendencies and surrendered his life to Christ.
As he began to put God first, great doors began to open up in his athletic career. In 2004, he made the Olympic team, and won a silver medal. Then in 2008, despite all the odds against him as the smallest competitor, yet he amazed the world by clinching a gold medal in the decathlon to become the world’s greatest Athlete. This was a realization and fulfillment of his mother’s vision and answer to her years of prayers.
His autobiography titled “Redemption”, captures the story of his amazing turnaround through his mother’s unfailing prayers.

Hearing from God was what gave Bryan Clay’s mother the confidence to press on in her prayers, despite how contrary things appeared in her son’s life.
Anytime it seems you are confronted by overwhelming difficulties and insurmountable problems, the best thing to do is to seek to hear the Lord’s counsel. Don’t be intimidated by what may be happening outwardly, wait upon the Lord and hope in His Word. Certainly, God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above what you could ever ask, think or imagine.
Hearing God’s voice is what makes you to ignore the noise of the enemy and press forward with spiritual precision.
Therefore, instead of wondering or pondering over how to handle problems in the lives of our children, in our family, relationships, business, career, etc, let us seek rather to hear what God is saying. Isaiah 30:31-32 says that ‘through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.’
The voice of the Lord will silence the roar of the enemy and give you peace and confidence in the midst of any storm.
To hear God’s voice, we must engage in a lifestyle of prayer and fasting. In Acts 13:2 While Paul, Barnabas, and those with them ‘ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them’.
We also hear Gods voice by engaging in a lifestyle of praise.
Isaiah 30:29-31 says ‘Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the mighty One of Israel. And the Lord shall cause his glorious voice to be heard..’
To hear God, it is important also that we diligently study the Scriptures, because many times God speaks to us through the pages of the Bible.
When we hear God’s voice and follow His divine direction, we will live in constant victory, because every issue of life answers to the authority of God’s Word.

PRAYER; Lord, Please grant me the grace to patiently wait upon You to hear Your voice on every major issue of my life. As I obey Your voice, I thank You for the mighty manifestations of Your miracles, signs and wonders in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 23; ENGAGING DIVINE INTERVENTION!

!

Deuteronomy 28:7 “The Lord shall cause thine enemies who rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face; they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.’

DAILY READING; Romans 2:1-3:8; 1 Samuel 10:17-11:15; Psalm 56

Derek Prince was a Missionary, theologian, Bible teacher and acclaimed author of over 100 books.
Through the spiritual discipline of fasting and praying, Derek experienced many amazing testimonies.
One of such remarkable testimonies is shared in his book, ‘Shaping History Through Prayer and Fasting.’
Derek was a pastor in London, when in early 1953, he received information that Josef Stalin, ruler of the Soviet Union, was planning a systematic purge of Russian Jews.
In February of 1953, Stalin had commissioned the construction of four camps in Kazakhstan, Siberia and in the Arctic North, where he planned to exterminate all the Jews in Russia.
Joseph Stalin, had already murdered 30 million Russians in trying to bring godless communism to Russia and now he planned to murder the Jews in Russia.
As Derek meditated on this situation, he felt God was laying on him a burden to pray for the Jews in Russia. He shared his feelings with the leaders of certain prayer groups in Britain, and they decided to set aside one day for special prayer and fasting on behalf of the Russian Jews.
On that day, all the leaders voluntarily abstained from food and prayed for God’s intervention on behalf of the Jews in Russia.
Though they had specifically not prayed for the death of Stalin, but simply committed the situation to God, two weeks later, the course of history inside Russia was changed as Stalin suddenly died.
Stalin died just a day before his planned execution of the Jewish people. There was no advance warning of Stalin’s impending death. He had suffered a sudden brain haemorrhage and though sixteen of Russia’s most skilled doctors fought to save his life, it was in vain.
The consequences of Stalin’s death was a period of positive changes in Russian that saw the overturning of Stalin’s repressive policies.

In the book of Esther, Haman died before he could execute his evil plan for the extermination of the Jews.
In Esther 4, when it became known that Haman planned to murder all the Jews in Susa, Queen Esther called for a fast. After all the Jews fasted for three days and nights, divine judgment fell upon Haman. His evil plan backfired. While the Jews were delivered, Haman died by hanging.
In Acts chapter 12, King Herod after executing James, then proceeded to arrest Peter to be also executed. But as the church in Jerusalem applied themselves to earnest, persistent prayer on Peter’s behalf, God’s judgment fell. While Peter had angelic deliverance, Herod died after being eaten by worms.
Certainly, God is able to deal with every Haman or Herod of our destiny.
When we fast and pray, God’s power is released for our deliverance and every plot against us comes under swift judgment.
The truth is that for you to rise in life, certain gang-ups have to fall for your sake.
To step into the great and effectual doors opened before us, many adversaries must be overcome.
Therefore in this period of waiting upon the Lord, let us be assured that God is set to deal with every resistance against our progress .
We don’t have to bother about the oppositions as long as we maintain our position in God.
According to Deuteronomy 28;7, though they may come one way against you, they will scatter in seven ways.
Certainly as you key into this season of fasting and praying, and have a closer walk with God, your dominion will be established.
Your strength will be renewed and you will mount up with eagles wings above obstacles.
The stumbling blocks placed on your path will be turned to stepping stones of your progress. Anyone who decides to gather against you, shall fall for your sake, and surely every tongue that rises against you in Judgment, shall be condemned..

PRAYER: Lord, in this season of waiting upon You, let your deliverance be made fully manifest in my life. Indeed May Your divine judgment come upon everything contesting my glorious destiny in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 22; DOMINION POWER OF LIGHT…

John 1:5 ‘And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.’

DAILY READING – Romans 1:16-32; 1 Samuel 9:1-10:16; Psalm 55

In 2016, a 72-year-old grandmother was rescued after days of being lost in the Arizona desert. Experts said technically her chances of getting out alive were “statistically abnormal”, because the wilderness covers an extensive 1,214,000,000 hectares and is the largest of the six national forests in Arizona. And the area did not have mobile phone coverage.
The woman named Ann Rodgers was on her way to visit her grandchildren in Phoenix with her pet dog when her car ran out of power and gas reserves. She’d noticed a gas station sign earlier but when she turned off the main road to locate it, she quickly became lost. Now out of mobile phone coverage, she and her small dog left the vehicle and climbed several ridgelines, hunting for a cell signal to call for help.
She waited until sun up the next morning hoping a truck or car, anybody, anything would go by. But nothing and no one came. After two days, she abandoned her vehicle and headed for a stream she had seen from one of the ridges.
For the next nine days, Rodgers and her dog survived by eating desert plants and drinking pond water while waiting for rescue. Rodgers had read a book on the edible plants of the forest, which informed her choices of plants to eat..
At night, when the temperatures dipped below freezing, she built a fire and made a shelter from the cold.
When Rodgers had been missing for three days, a multi-agency search began after someone finally noticed her car on a remote stretch of road. Even with two separate helicopter searches and multiple ground searches, they found no trace of her during those first few days. A breakthrough only occurred after nine days, when a Game and Fish officer found her dog wandering in the canyon.
Soon rescuers saw Rodgers waving next to a signal fire.. Detectives from the sheriff’s office were finally able to find and rescue her after spotting the signal fire.
The Arizona desert can be a hard place for those who go astray, but this 72-year-old grandmother had survived in good health because of applying certain survival tactics.
She had especially survived the nights in the forest by maintaining a bushfire that kept away the wild beasts. In the daytime she gathered enough wood to keep the campfire burning all night long.

We need to keep our spiritual fire burning brightly to keep our environment sanctified.
The use of fire to keep wild beasts away during the night is a basic survival tip for campers. Likewise for us to survive and be victorious in a world of darkness we need to keep our fire burning..
Just as a campfire keeps campers protected and safe, fervent spiritual fire burning in our lives keeps us protected.
When we pray and fill ourselves with the light of God’s Word, we keep away the forces of darkness from us.
This is an important spiritual principle we must note because we live in a world where darkness seeks to prevail.

1 John 5;19 tells us that the whole world lies in wickedness.

Psalm 74:20 says the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.

Ephesians 6:12 says ‘For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.’

These scriptures clearly depict the spiritual state of the world. Man is under siege by the hosts of darkness and the only hope of survival is the light of the Gospel. The shinning of the light of The Word is what shatters every darkness. Anytime light comes in, darkness must bow out. This is why in this season of fasting and praying we must ensure we seek Light from God’s Word so as to overcome every form of spiritual.darkness in our environment.
The entrance of the Word gives light. This is the light that shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it. Just as campers keep the fire burning at night to keep away the evil beasts, we must keep ourselves lighted by fervent prayers and deep study of the Word so as to keep away every evil and live victoriously as sons of God in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation..

PRAYER: Father, please help me to keep the fire burning fervently on my prayer Altar and to walk in the light of Your Word, so as to always live in power and dominion
in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 21; NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF PRAYER!

1 John 5:14-15 ‘And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.’

DAILY READING • Romans 2:1-3:8; 1 Samuel 10:17-11:15; Psalm 56

One of the greatest frontier preachers of the 19th century was Peter Cartwright.
Prior to his birth, his parents were among the new settlers in the western wilderness of North America. They faced such great conflicts from the native American Indians that Peter Cartwright was born while his mother was hiding from an Indian attack in a cluster of cane trees.
When Peter was about five, his family decided to relocate to a safer region of the Kentucky territory. But even as they travelled as a group of two hundred families to this new territory, they were attacked by the Indians and some lost their lives.
These troubles drove Peter’s mother to begin seeking God earnestly and she became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. But Peter grew up more under influence of his father who enjoyed card playing, horseracing, and dancing. His mother wept and prayed constantly hoping for Peter’s conversion. At times he would be moved by her words, but these moments of remorse always came to nothing as he soon found himself again falling back to his old ways.
Gambling became an addiction for him and Peter lived such a loose life that he called himself “naturally a wild, wicked boy.”
In 1801, when Peter was sixteen, revival came to their town and many began to turn to God.
One night, after attending a wedding, where there was a great deal of drinking and dancing, Peter got home and began to feel guilty and condemned. He rose and walked the floor, then it seemed to him that all of a sudden, blood rushed to his head, his heart palpitated, in a few minutes he turned blind; an awful impression rested on his mind that death had come and he was unprepared to die. He fell on his knees and began to ask God to have mercy on him.
The next morning he gave up gambling and gave his pack of cards to his mother, who threw them into the fire.
After giving his life to Christ, Peter became an active Christian. By the time Peter was eighteen he became a travelling preacher and was known as “The boy preacher”.
Peter Cartwright grew up to become one of the greatest American revivalists and he helped start America’s Second Great Awakening.

We must not underestimate the power of prayer.
Instead of focusing on the faults and shortcomings of others, we will achieve greater results when we pray for them.
So many times there are spiritual influences behind the outward bad behaviors and when we stay on our knees in intersession eventually the strongholds will be destroyed.
Truly, the fervent, effectual prayer of the righteous accomplishes much.
Despite Peter Cartwright’s initial rebellion, as his mother persisted in prayer God arrested him in a dramatic manner that exceeded her expectations.
It is God’s will to save our loved ones and help them achieve their purposes in life. The more we pray for them, the more the forces holding them captive and hindering their destinies will let go of them.
The more we pray, the more the goodness of God chases them down until they are overwhelmed and brought into alignment with God’s will for their lives.
Through prayer, we have the divine ability to help others reach their destiny. No matter how far gone anyone may appear, through prayers, God’s grace and mercy can change their story.
When we pray, things begin to shift in the spirit realm as our prayers activate the workings of grace.
As we pray, the chains holding them back begin to loosen and the hold of sin over their lives is broken.
There are loved ones who cannot break out of the chains holding them bound except we pray. They may not be able to stand on their feet except we go on our knees in prayer.
Some of them are carrying greatness in their wombs and we have to stand as spiritual midwives to help them birth their great destinies.
No matter how hopeless their present conditions may seem, we have to realize that there’s no impossible or closed case with God.
As we continue to pray, we are making spiritual deposits that will soon manifest in miraculous turnarounds and dramatic change of story.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for the grace to persevere in prayers and never grow weary. As I pray, I thank You for speedy answers and miracles that exceed my expectations in Jesus Name. .

JANUARY 20; DELIVERANCE POWER OF PRAYER!

Luke 21:36 ‘Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass..’

DAILY READING; Romans 1:16-32; 1 Samuel 9:1-10:16; Psalm 55

The Sierra Leone Civil War, which began on 23 March 1991 was one of the bloodiest in Africa resulting in more than fifty thousand deaths.
The conflict began when rebel insurgents known as the Revolutionary United Front (RUF), attempted to overthrow the President of the diamond-rich nation of Sierra Leone.
As the RUF sought to control the diamond, they carried out a lot of banditry and particularly unleashed a brutal terror on the civilian population. When the government publicized solidarity among the people with the mantra “the government is in your hands,” the rebels responded by chopping off people’s arms.
They would ask their victims. “Do you want short sleeve or long sleeve?” Indicating whether to cut off the lower arm or the upper arm.
Everywhere the rebels went they unleashed terror.
When the rebels swept into the Sierra Leonean city of Kabala, they torched houses and gunned down people in the streets.
In this same city was an American missionary Rev. Ralph Bowen, whose family had been serving as missionaries in Africa for more than ten years.
At that time he had begun a Church where people were taught to pray fervently and trust in God.
Miraculously, during the 1994 attack in Kabala no member of Rev. Ralph Bowen’s Church was killed or injured or had property loss in the mayhem.
Many of his Church members had outstanding stories of deliverance. One of these was that of Pa Gbani who was a police detective and was among the targets of the rebels. But while the mayhem was going on around him, Pa Gbani knew that the danger was even greater if he ran into the street where innocent victims were being gunned down.
So he entered into his room at the police barracks, got his Bible and began to read it and pray.
When the rebels arrived at the Barracks, they ignited the front rooms intending to burn down the whole barracks. But as the fire raged, before it reached the room where Pa Gbani was, without any reasonable explanation, the fire miraculously extinguished by itself without harming Pa Gbani.
Because Rev. Ralph Bowen had taught his Church members the power of prayer, they were able to survive the terror period of the long Sierra Leone Civil War.

Truly, God is committed in protecting those who trust in Him.
Today, it is very clear we are living in very perilous times with the rampant news of insurgency, banditry, kidnapping etc. With such unprecedented wave of insecurity and uncertainties, there is a natural tendency for men to be fearful.
However, despite the arrows flying by day and by night, as Christians we are under strong divine cover..
Though ‘a thousand may fall at our side and ten thousand at our right hand yet it will not come near us..’ As long as we put our trust in God, He has promised that no evil shall befall us and no plague can come near our dwelling place.
Though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; we will not fear. Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof; God remains our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble [Psalm 46].
No matter the happenings in the world, we shall continue to be preserved through God’s unfailing covenant of divine protection.
However, it is important that we understand that in every covenant, we have a part to play.
According to Psalm 91:1-2, those who enjoy God’s divine deliverance are those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
When we have formed a habit of constantly dwelling in God’s presence, through a spiritually fervent lifestyle, then we can be sure He will speedily answer us anytime we call upon Him.
Jesus tells us that a lifestyle of constant prayers will be the key to escaping the evils of these last days.
In Luke 21:36, He said ‘Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass..’
As we seek God in this season of fasting and praying let us be determined to remain spiritually fervent at all times.
Certainly as we hide ourselves deeper in God through a closer walk with Him, we can be sure of divine security and immunity no matter what goes on in the world.

PRAYER: Father I thank You for establishing me in a deeper and more intimate relationship with You. As I seek You passionately and fervently I know that I shall be preserved from the perils of these end-times in Jesus’ Name.

JANUARY 19; EXERCISE YOUR SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY

!

Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

DAILY READING; Romans 1:1-15; 1 Samuel 8; Psalm 54

In his book, ‘The Believer’s Authority’, Kenneth E. Hagin stated that in 1952, the Lord Jesus Christ appeared to him in a vision and talked to him for about an hour.
He said that towards the end of this vision, an evil spirit that looked like a little monkey ran between Jesus and him and began to make shrill noises and spread a black smoke. This made it difficult for Kenneth Hagin to see or hear Jesus anymore.
Hagin said he wondered why Jesus didn’t rebuke the demon that was disrupting their conversation.
Unable to hear the important instructions that Jesus was giving him, Hagin almost panicked and in his desperation, he shouted at the demon, “In the name of Jesus, You foul spirit, I command you to stop!”
The minute he said that, the little demon fell to the floor and immediately ran away.
Jesus said to Hagin “If you hadn’t done something about that, I couldn’t have.”
He went on to tell Hagin that not one single time in the New Testament is the Church ever told to pray that God the Father or Jesus would do anything against the devil, because the believer has been given the authority to do so.
Kenneth Hagin was shocked on hearing that and asked Jesus to prove it to him by at least three Scriptures of New Testament. Jesus gave him four Scriptural references.
The first was Mathew 28:18 where Jesus said ‘All power [authority] is given unto me in heaven and in earth’ and then He immediately delegated His authority on earth to the Church.
The second reference was Mark 16:15-18: which listed signs that shall follow those that believe; and the first sign was that in the Name of Jesus they shall cast out devils.
The next reference was James 4:7 which says: “.. .Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”.
The fourth Scripture Jesus gave Hagin was Ephesians 4:27, which says “Neither give place to the devil.” Jesus then explained to Kenneth Hagin that the devil cannot take any place unless he is given the permission to do so. So as long as a believer occupies his place of spiritual authority he will always be victorious in life.

As Christians we are destined to always triumph against the forces of wickedness because Jesus has defeated them through His death, burial and resurrection.
1 John 3:8 says ‘.. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.’
Colossians 2:15 says ‘And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.’
In our battle against the enemy and his forces, we should keep in mind that we are above them and have authority over them because Jesus has conquered them.
In Luke 10:17-19 Jesus said “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.’

As a child of God you have the power and victory over the enemy. Therefore refuse to tolerate his afflictions of sickness, infirmities, poverty, etc
It is only lack of knowledge of God’s Word that can cause a believer to suffer defeat in life.
This is why as we wait upon the Lord, we also spend the time in seeking deeper revelations and greater understanding from God’s Word.
As we study the Word our faith will be built up to address every affliction with boldness and authority.
God’s Word which is the sword of the Spirit is our formidable weapon in spiritual warfares.
As soldiers of Christ in these end-times, we must train up ourselves on how to engage our spiritual weapons of warfare which are not carnal but mighty to the pulling down of strongholds.
In these perilous days when the enemy is working overtime because he knows his time is short, we cannot afford to remain spiritual babes.
It’s time for us to rise up in the authority that Jesus has given us and begin to resist every attack against our lives.
Let this season of fasting be a time to declare war against those things trying to steal our health, our peace, our progress, our prosperity etc.
As we begin to exercise our spiritual authority, surely every hindrance will be destroyed and we shall gloriously step into the greater open doors destined for us this year.

PRAYERS; Father, today I receive the grace to pay the needed spiritual price so as to walk in power and authority. Thank You Lord for always causing me to triumph over every enemy of my destiny in Jesus Name
