In 1940, when Nazi Germany invaded the Netherlands, a young woman named Diet Eman felt a divine call to resist the invaders. Though ordinary in every way, she became extraordinarily brave, risking her life to hide Jews and others targeted by the Nazis. Alongside her fiancé, she worked with the Dutch Resistance, helping countless lives.
By 1944, the Nazis intensified their search for Resistance members, forcing Diet into hiding. Using fake IDs and constantly changing her location, she evaded capture—until one fateful day. While smuggling illegal documents under her shirt, she was stopped by six German officers who quickly identified her ID as fake. She knew discovery of the illegal documents under her shirt meant certain death.
But then, what she later saw as an act of God occurred: another officer arrived wearing a new raincoat made of rare plastic. His fellow soldiers became absorbed in admiring the coat. In that brief distraction, Diet discreetly tossed the hidden documents far from her body.
When attention returned to her, the incriminating evidence was gone. She was arrested for possessing false identification but later released. While many fellow fighters were captured and killed, Diet Eman survived—saved by courage, quick thinking, and what she believed was divine intervention. God’s grace can create an escape out of any tight situation.
The grace of God is one of the vital mysteries of life. Through it we survive things that could have destroyed us.
As the redeemed of the Lord, we have access to the inexhaustible supply of His goodness, which helps us to overcome life’s difficulties..
When our foundation is built upon the solid rock of God’s Word, though trials and tribulations may come, we will overcome them all and still stand strong.
God has armed you for victory in every battle. Therefore never be intimidated by overwhelming situations. The forces for you are greater than the forces against you. This is why we should not get discouraged by the challenges of today, because we know that God’s grace is available for our deliverance..
Having come to the end of the month of May today, let us thank and praise God for His grace that has brought us thus far.
Though the enemy sometimes came like a flood, God continually lifted a standard against him and gave us the victory.. As we look forward to the new month, we are assured that God’s grace will continue to prevail in our lives and keep us standing firm and strong despite life’s storms. Rather than sink, we will keep soaring higher and keep going from glory to glory.
