Pastor Katherine Ruonala, co-founder of Glory City Church in Brisbane, Australia, has spent many years preaching the Gospel, leading worship, and ministering around the world. Yet one of the greatest tests of her faith came when her own voice—the very instrument of her ministry—suddenly began to fail.
After years of constant preaching and singing, she developed painful nodules on her vocal cords. Her voice weakened drastically, and she eventually lost her singing range completely. Doctors examined her condition and advised surgery as the only solution. For someone whose calling depended heavily on her voice, the diagnosis was alarming.
Instead of surrendering to fear, Katherine chose to stand on God’s Word. She sensed the Lord prompting her to begin declaring life over her voice. Every day she spoke words of faith, proclaiming her healing by the power of God.
For weeks nothing seemed to change. Yet she continued speaking God’s promises over her body. Then one day the impossible happened. Her voice suddenly returned with full strength and clarity. The nodules disappeared, and the doctors confirmed she no longer needed surgery.
Through faith and consistent declarations of God’s Word, the condition that threatened her ministry was completely reversed.
Jesus promised in Luke 21:15 that He would give us “a mouth and wisdom” that our adversaries cannot resist. This reveals an important spiritual truth: God has placed tremendous power in the words we speak.
Our words are not merely sounds; they are spiritual instruments that can shape circumstances. Throughout Scripture we see that God Himself creates and establishes things through His Words. When we align our speech with His Word, we release His power into our situations. When we confess what God says instead of repeating what fear suggests, we are bound to experience miracles.
Challenges often attempt to intimidate us into silence. But silence can strengthen fear. Instead, we must respond to challenges with the authority of God’s Word. Speaking Scripture over our lives builds faith within us and confronts the lies of the enemy.
When God’s Word fills our hearts and flows from our mouths, situations begin to change in our favor.
Therefore, let us speak life, victory, and faith over every challenge we face. As we boldly declare God’s Word, His wisdom and power will operate through us, and every adversary will ultimately be defeated.
PRAYER:
Lord, I thank You for the grace to speak words of faith and life. Help me to fill my heart with Your Word so that my mouth will continually declare Your promises. As I speak Your truth today, let every situation align with Your will for my life in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
