Hebrews 13:15 ‘By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name’
DAILY READING• Revelation 14; Esther 5:1-6:13; Psalm 106:24-48
On Sunday, April 15 2018, Sharon Childress and her oldest son, Bryson, were at home in their town of Elon in Central Virginia when 6 tornadoes ravaged the area and destroyed many buildings, including their home.
As the tornado hit their house, Sharon saw the wall begin to lift up from the foundation and the next thing that she knew she was hit on the back of the head, and became unconscious.
As the furious winds tore through their home, her son, Bryson saw the double back doors suddenly fly open at the same time. Then immediately it felt like every single square inch of his body was punched at once by the tornado.
Bryson almost lost his eye, and broke several bones, and later had to go through several surgeries to fully recover.
Due to the concussion, Sharon didn’t know what had happened, by the time she regained consciousness her home had been blown away by the tornado.
But despite the loss of their home, Sharon and her son were very grateful to God for sparing their lives. They joined the rest of the town’s residents who are mostly Christians to praise God because though 26 homes had been destroyed, yet miraculously no one was killed. Despite all they lost, the residents remained grateful to God that they didn’t lose their lives. After the storm, help came from various quarters as people and organizations rallied round to build better and stronger homes for the community.
Sometimes some of our sweetest incenses of praise are those offered from the fire.
At those times, when everything seems to be contrary and there seems no reason to be thankful, those are the very moments we should offer unto God a sweet sacrifice of praise.
In the Old Testament, when the priest made offerings on hot coals, accompanied with incense, the Bible says that these offerings made by fire were a pleasing aroma and a sweet savor unto the Lord. [Leviticus 2:16]
Therefore, anytime you face a trial, understand that the fire is not there to burn you, but rather it is there to reveal the power of God in your life.
Sometimes, tribulation is an indication of the grace God has given you to overcome the things that come your way. The truth is that the higher your mantle, the greater the battles you will have to confront.. An attitude of gratitude will always guarantee you the victory in every battle .
Every time you praise despite the pain, you’re making preparation for the rain. As you keep praising God, your season will start changing.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says ‘Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.’
Rejoicing and being thankful in everything is God’s will for us. Therefore, today, no matter the situation, let us keep blessing the Lord at all times. When you continue to offer the sacrifice of praise, in the midst of difficulties, somehow, in ways you cannot fathom, things will begin to turn around. You will see that negative medical verdict overturned, the financial problems will be resolved, the family crisis, marital troubles etc will all be overcome.
Indeed there’s nothing God cannot handle in our lives, as long as we stay in praise.
PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for the grace to always praise You at all times. Please destroy every form of depression and discouragement in my life and let my heart be continually filled with joy and praise in Jesus Name..
