Ji Seong-Ho’s life story is a striking testimony of courage, faith, and unwavering devotion in the face of overwhelming adversity. Born in North Korea, he grew up during the devastating famine of the mid-1990s, when millions died of starvation..At that time, daily survival was uncertain, and hope seemed nonexistent.
In 1996, tragedy struck when a train accident crushed Ji’s left leg and hand, leaving him permanently disabled. In a nation with no compassion for the weak, his condition made life even more unbearable. Yet something within him refused to surrender. With crutches and one functioning leg, Ji made the unthinkable decision to escape.
His journey spanned nearly 6,000 miles through dangerous terrain, jungles, and borders patrolled by armed guards. At one point, while crossing a steep mountain, he collapsed from exhaustion and believed death was inevitable. In tears, he cried out a simple prayer: “If there is a God in this world, please save me.”
That desperate prayer marked a turning point. God sustained him, and in 2006, Ji reached South Korea safely. There, he encountered Christ and became convinced that Jesus had carried him through his escape. As he surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, his life was rebuilt. He received citizenship, education, mobility, and divine purpose.
After he graduated from the university, Ji Seong-Ho became a Christian activist and politician, boldly advocating for the freedom of others still trapped in oppression in North Korea.
Ji Seong-Ho could have resigned himself to a life of suffering in North Korea, but instead, he chose to move—trusting that help would come along the way. This is how faith works: we step forward in obedience, and God releases supernatural strength.
This year, God has great things prepared for us, but they will not be accessed by hesitation or spiritual complacency. To walk into the extraordinary, we must serve God with consistency, fervency, and total commitment. Casual devotion produces average outcomes; unwavering devotion positions us for divine intervention.
Ephesians 3:20 assures us that God is able to do far more than we can imagine—but that power is activated as we align ourselves fully with Him. Serving God wholeheartedly sharpens our spiritual sensitivity, strengthens our faith, and emboldens us to take courageous steps.
This is not the year to remain in comfort zones or entertain spiritual laziness. It is the year to hunger for God, linger longer in prayer, stay rooted in the Word, and obey divine instructions promptly. As our devotion deepens, boldness will follow naturally.
When we trust God completely and serve Him faithfully, He supplies the help we cannot generate on our own. As Psalm 28:7 declares, “My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped.” This year, as we step forward with boldness and unwavering devotion, certainly God will exceed our expectation and usher us into new realms of purpose and impact.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to serve You with unwavering devotion this year. Strengthen my faith to step forward boldly and trust You fully. As I commit my ways to You, lead me into the extraordinary plans You have prepared for me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
