Isaiah 30:21 – “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”

The book, ‘Why Christians Sin,’ is written by J. Kirk Johnston and published by Discovery House. In this book is the story of Roger Simms, who, on his way home after his service in the army, was given a ride by a man in a sleek, black, new Cadillac. The man, who looked like a successful businessman, introduced himself as Mr. Hanover. After talking about many things, Roger, a Christian, felt a compulsion to witness to this man about Christ. But he kept putting it off, till he realized he was just thirty minutes from his home. It was now or never! So Roger cleared his throat and said, “Mr. Hanover, I would like to talk to you about something very important.” He then proceeded to explain the way of salvation, ultimately asking Mr. Hanover if he would like to receive Christ as his Savior. To Roger’s astonishment, the Cadillac pulled over to the side of the road. Roger thought he was going to be ejected from the car; but rather, the businessman bowed his head and received Christ. He thanked Roger, saying, “This is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.”
Before Roger dropped off, Mr. Hanover gave him his business card.
Roger got home and went on with his life. However, five years later, he was packing his suitcase for a business trip to Chicago, when he found the small, white business card. When he arrived Chicago he looked up Hanover Enterprises. A receptionist told him it was impossible to see Mr. Hanover, but he could see Mrs. Hanover. On seeing Mrs. Hanover, Roger told her of how her husband had given him a ride five years before on May 7th and how he had been able to lead him to Christ. She seemed shocked on hearing the date and then burst into explosive sobs, telling him it was the exact date her husband had died. He had been involved in a car crash and never arrived at his destination. She further said that she had prayed for her husband’s salvation for years, but after he died she thought God had not answered her prayers, and as a result she had backslid in her Christianity. But now she realized that God had indeed been faithful.
Of course, Roger didn’t know about her prayers when he decided to obey the promptings of the Spirit to preach to Mr. Hanover.
We may never know the immediate results of our obedience to God, but if we can just continue to trust and obey God every step of the way, His plans will eventually unfold for us to see.
When we see a well-arranged puzzle, we can appreciate the picture it forms as a whole. But if one piece of that puzzle was isolated, we might not make sense of it. Like that piece of puzzle, when God gives us an instruction, it may not make sense. But though that simple instruction may seem small and inconsequential, in God’s overall plan it could be a very crucial piece needed to bring the whole picture together.
God has a plan He is executing on earth, and it is important that we cooperate with Him by obeying even the slightest promptings of the Spirit.
Fulfilling our divine purpose on earth is tied to obeying instructions from God. The best of our wisdom and our logical thinking is not a substitute for God’s guidance. It takes guidance to see greatness. God does not lead us into shame but rather to glory and virtue.
We cannot be guided and become grounded. God’s leading is the highway to our blessings. It is through following divine instructions that we arrive at the place of glory God has ordained for us. Moreover, when we follow divine guidance, we enjoy divine backing because God is behind the execution of every divine plan. Once we locate His plan for our lives and are following it, God stands strong and faithful to accomplish it. 1 Thessalonians 5:24 says, ‘Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.’
However, it is through prayers that we can become sensitive to divine signals. And in this season of fasting and prayer, we are already in a place where we can easily pick up spiritual frequency and hear what God is saying.
Isaiah 30:21 says, “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”
Each step we take, our spiritual ears should be open to divine signals. And as we follow these divine promptings, we will be guided into the glory ordained for us this year.
PRAYER: Lord, please help me to always cooperate with Your Spirit and obey Your divine instructions so as to see a full manifestation of Your purpose in my life.
In everything I do, may my life constantly glorify You and draw men into Your kingdom in Jesus’ Name.
