1 Corinthians 9:26-27 ‘I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.’

Evander Holyfield started out in boxing in the amateur ranks but honed his skills until he began winning most of his fights. In 1984, Holyfield represented the United States at the Olympics and transitioned into the professional ranks as a light heavyweight.
He continued to build up his body and develop himself to win major fights. He then ascended to the cruiserweight division where he soon became the reigning WBA Cruiserweight Champion. But he wanted more and soon set his sights on rising to the heavyweight division. But to reign in the heavyweight, he had to challenge and conquer the reigning heavyweight champion, the formidable Mike Tyson. In 1996, when Evander Holyfield signed on to fight Mike Tyson, no one gave Holyfield a chance. The Media widely predicted that Tyson would crush him in the rings. However Holyfield, who had become a devoted born-again Christian in 1992, had great faith that he would win. Moreover, Holyfield took his training very seriously and prepared himself rigorously for the fight. Finally when the two met in the rings, Holyfield scored a historical victory over Tyson which sent a great shock wave across the boxing world.
Though he started out as a lightweight, Evander Holyfield built himself up to emerge as the only boxer in history to win the undisputed championship in two weight classes in the three belt era and also the only four-time world heavyweight champion.

Glory comes in weights. To carry a heavy weight of glory, we must develop the capacity for it. There is a price to pay to move from spiritual lightweights to become spiritual heavy weights. It will require commitment to a lifestyle of fervent prayers, purity, study of the Word and fellowship with the Spirit.
As we pay the price, there will be an eruption of mighty signs and wonders that will cause us to stand out wherever we go.
The Bible tells us to “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”. You can liken this to a gym workout. You may start out with carrying light weights but as you work out consistently, you will become stronger and carry heavier weights.
It doesn’t matter the spiritual level you started this year with, you can develop yourself through spiritual exercises to become a warrior. You can transit from victim to Victor and from a loser to a winner.
If we refuse to move higher in our spirituality, we will be deluding ourselves to expect greater glory to come upon us. Expected outcomes place a demand for certain inputs. In 1 Corinthians 9:26-27, apostle Paul says “so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection”.
In this season of prayers, let us determine to bring our flesh under subjection. Let us plead the Blood of Jesus against anything that will try to hinder our spiritual progress. May the Blood cleanse, purge and purify us to flow in greater anointing and manifest indeed unprecedented levels of glory in our lives this year.

PRAYER: Lord, please help me to pay the price to move higher spiritually and develop capacity for the great weight of glory that has been destined for me this year. Thank You for helping me to grow stronger daily in Jesus Name
