DeWayne Lamont Woods is an award-winning American Gospel musician. He has often shared the story of how a season of spiritual coldness and ungodly associations nearly destroyed his life.
In 1993, while working with a drama team in Chicago, Woods began to experience fainting spells. A hospital test revealed he had contracted HIV!. Though known as a christian, Dwayne had been living a secret life of sin and now he faced the consequences. Alone in his hospital bed, he wept and pleaded with God to spare his life.
For the next seven years he battled the deadly disease. Instead of losing hope, Woods rekindled his faith. He gave himself to prayer, worship, and honoring God with his life. Slowly, his strength returned. In 2000, to the amazement of his doctors, Woods received a clean bill of health—completely free of HIV.
He later testified that though he had strayed, God’s mercy restored him when he cried out in repentance. Out of that encounter came his award-winning song, “Let Go, Let God,” a powerful anthem of surrender and trust. His story reminds us that walking with God in to reverence is the only sure covering in a world filled with traps, dangers, and spiritual battles.

We live in an increasingly hostile world where gross darkness is spreading and believers are constantly confronted with diverse temptations. Jesus Himself warned that the last days would be like the days of Noah where sin dominated the world.
As we approach the end of the age these temptations and deception will only intensify.
This is why living in purity and righteousness is not optional—it is our lifeline. When we live in reverence and obedience to the Lord, His covering shields us from the enemy who prowls about like a roaring lion seeking whom to devour. But when a believer grows careless, entertains sin, or drifts into spiritual slumber, the hedge of protection is broken, giving room to the enemy’s attacks.
Sin is costly—it steals joy, peace, and blessings. The goal of the enemy is not just to temptation but destruction. That’s why Scripture commands us to be sober and vigilant. Honoring God with our time, our choices, and our daily walk keeps our spiritual fire alive and our shield of faith strong.
These perilous days call for deeper devotion. As believers, we cannot afford to live anyhow, the consequences are too high.
Today, let us choose to live in holiness and spiritual alertness because the coming of the Lord is nearer than ever before. As we honor God in our daily life, we will daily dwell in His presence and be covered with His glory.

PRAYER: Lord, keep me sober and vigilant in these end times. Deliver me from every trap of the enemy and grant me the grace to walk daily in reverence and obedience to You. Let my life continually bring You honor wherever I go in Jesus Name.
