Franklin Graham, son of renowned evangelist Billy Graham, was born on July 14, 1952, in Asheville, North Carolina. Despite his Christian upbringing, Franklin’s youth was marked by rebellion—engaging in smoking, drinking, and confrontations that led to his expulsion from LeTourneau College in Texas. His wayward lifestyle posed challenges for his family, especially given his father’s prominent ministry.
In 1974, during a trip to Jerusalem, Franklin experienced a pivotal moment. Alone in his hotel room, he read the Gospel of John, leading him to commit his life to Jesus Christ at the age of 22. This decision marked the beginning of a transformative journey.
Shortly after, Franklin joined Dr. Bob Pierce, founder of Samaritan’s Purse, on a mission trip to Asia. This experience ignited his passion for humanitarian work, leading him to assume leadership roles in both Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Under his guidance, these organizations have impacted millions worldwide.
Franklin Graham’s life is a testament to God’s redeeming grace. From a path of rebellion, he emerged as a minister of the Gospel who is wholly dedicated to Christ.
In his 1995 autobiography, “Rebel With a Cause”, he expresses how the grace of God delivered him when all else failed.
As believers, we all have a history with God.
We all passed through seasons of disobedience and rebellion that could have defeated us early in life.
Somehow, through God’s grace and mercy, we were able to survive those stages of life.
When we go back over our history with God, we can see how He has always been faithful. He has always pulled us from the enemy’s traps, delivered us from the lion’s den, forgiven us of our sins, and given us brand-new beginnings.
Despite all the plans of the enemy, God’s will over our lives has prevailed. Many of us would have been dead and buried long ago, but by God’s mercies, we have not been consumed. From the dunghill, He lifted us and made us sit with princes. He set our feet upon the rock and established our goings.
God has always been there, working behind the scenes and pushing back the hands of darkness that could have truncated our destiny.
Truly, if it had not been for the Lord on our side, where would we have been?
Although we have no claim on God’s mercies, and they are undeserved, nonetheless, they never cease.
The truth is that though you may not be where you want to be, certainly you are not where you used to be. God has been good and we ought to bless at all times.
Our progress is not by our will or strength but because of God that shows mercy. (Romans 9:16)
Today, as we commit to going deeper in our relationship with God, we will certainly see more of His goodness as He keeps taking us higher—from glory to glory and from victory to victory.
PRAYER:
Lord, I praise You for all Your amazing goodness in my life. I am truly grateful for Your mercy, grace, and favor which have brought me this far. Thank You so much, Lord, for Your faithfulness in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
