2 Chronicles 7:14 ‘If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.’
DAILY READING – Luke 5:27-39; Genesis 1:1-2:25; Psalm 1
In 1940, a historic prayer movement began in the United Kingdom, that was called ‘The Silent Minute’.
This was a moment dedicated to prayers at the time of the Second World War when Hitler’s onslaught pushed the people to begin to desperately seek God.
‘The Silent Minute’ prayer movement received the direct support of King of England, the British Prime minister, Sir Winston Churchill and the U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
People were asked to devote one minute of prayer for the war at nine o’clock each evening.
From November 10, 1940, the BBC began to play the bells of Big Ben on the radio daily as a signal for the Silent Minute to begin.
‘The Silent Minute’ was observed on land, at sea, on the battlefields, homes, bomb shelters, hospitals and everywhere.
Eventually the Allied forces won the victory and defeated Hitler’s army.
The profound role played by the Silent Minute prayers became evident in a revealing statement made by a high placed Nazi officer. When British intelligence officers interrogated him and asked him why he thought Germany lost the war, his reply was, “During the war, you had a secret weapon for which we could find no counter measure, which we did not understand, but it was very powerful. It was associated with the striking of the Big Ben each evening. I believe you called it the ‘Silent Minute.’
Obviously, the Nazis recognized the great power released daily through the corporate prayers. Though Hitler had the capacity to have won the war, yet the power of united prayers helped to stop his plan of destruction.
We will have the victory in every war when we begin to exercise the power of God available to us on the altar of prayer.
Today, many nations are facing tremendous challenges in the area of security, health, economy etc. In certain African nations, the security situation has become alarming with various incidences of killings, kidnappings and violence.
As believers in such nations, we can engage the power of God, as we humble ourselves through prayers to stop the onslaught of the enemy.
In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God says ‘If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land..’
Indeed we can experience healing in our lands when we make a commitment to pay the price of prayer.
In these last days, as the battle gets hotter, there is an urgent need for revival. Indeed we need revival for survival!
Revival is not just for the Church but every believer because it is personal Revival that produces corporate Revival.
The church is only as hot as the individual members that make up the body.
Indeed it is God’s plan for every believer to be so fervent in prayers, that His house will be called of all nations, the house of prayer.
Just as the early Church experienced mighty power, God is getting ready for a mighty move of His power upon the earth.
It was when 120 believers waited and prayed in the upper room that Heaven opened and the Holy Ghost came down with fire.
In these last days, God is raising up a mighty army of Blood-washed, Holy Ghost filled, fire-baptized, tongue-talking, sin-hating, Jesus-loving Believers.
God gave us a picture of this great army in Joel 2. It is through this great company of believers that God ’s power will sweep through the earth to make His enemies His footstool.
For us to be part of this great move we must rightly position ourselves individually through accepting spiritual responsibility .
The Power of God only comes on those who pray.
As we begin to call upon God in prayer we will see the tables turned upon the enemies of the Church. Their financial power and weapons of war will be no match for the superior power of the Holy Ghost.
As we begin to release the power of God through prayer in our corporate gatherings and personal altars, surely, an end will come to the wicked in our nations and we will emerge victorious in every conflict.
PRAYER: Lord, please grant me the grace to accept spiritual responsibility, so that I can be victorious in every battle. Please help me to pay the necessary price to see Your fire and power upon my life in Jesus Name.
