Proverbs 3:27-35; Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.. –
DAILY READING – Luke 2:1-20; Ezekiel 37; Isaiah 60
Men who trap animals in Africa for zoos in America, say that one of the hardest animals to catch is the ring tailed monkey. For the Zulus of that continent, however, it’s simple. They’ve been catching this agile little animal with ease for years. The method the Zulus use is based on knowledge of the animal. Their trap is nothing more than a melon growing on a vine. The seeds of this melon are a favorite of the monkey. Knowing this, the Zulus simply cut a hole in the melon, just large enough for the monkey to insert his hand to reach the seeds inside. The monkey will stick his hand in, grab as many seeds as he can, then start to withdraw it. This he cannot do. His fist is now larger than the hole. The monkey will pull and tug, screech and fight the melon for hours. But he can’t get free of the trap unless he lets go of the seeds, which he refuses to do. Meanwhile, the Zulus sneak up and nab him
Proverbs 3:27-35 says ‘Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.’
Withholding the seeds in our hands and not releasing it when we should, causes us to be trapped by the enemy in financial hardship. We can only gain financial freedom when we agree to let go of the seeds in our hands. As long as we remain tightfisted, financial freedom is not in view. But when we give freely, then we receive freely. What we sow is given back unto us in good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over.
Everything we need in this life has been given to us in seed form. We set the blessing of God into motion in our lives when we release the seeds in our hands. Seeds produce after their own kind. And just as we sow financial seeds, to reap a financial harvest, when we release seeds of kindness, favor and blessing in the lives of others, we also reap the same in the future. As you refresh others God will refresh you.. Therefore instead of living need-minded, let us live seed-minded.
We can also reap rich spiritual harvests when we sow spiritual seeds of prayer, praise and diligent study of The Word. God’s Word is full of wonders, and when we constantly sow God’s Word into our hearts, we will reap a harvest of the supernatural in miracles, signs and wonders. When we sow the seed of spending time in prayer, we will reap definite answers to our prayers. And when we sow the seeds of offering worthy praise to God, we will be rewarded with the harvest of God’s Presence.
We must realize that everything we are experiencing in our lives today is a direct result of the seeds we sowed in our past. Each day, we are planting seeds that will be reaped in our future. And the harvest we reap will depend on the kind of seeds, good or bad. Let us therefore, be deliberate to sow the right seeds, knowing that our seeds are shaping our future. We have to constantly evaluate our actions to make sure we are depositing today the kind of seeds we would like to reap tomorrow.
Therefore instead of hoarding and holding back the good seeds in our hands, let us freely release it to God and humanity around us, knowing that whatsoever we sow that also shall we reap. Let us indeed be a blessing to the world around us by constantly releasing the good seeds in our hands.
PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for the grace to continually sow good seeds wherever I go. As I sow freely, thank You for causing me to reap a rich harvest. Even now I know You are at work to exceed my every expectation in Jesus Name.
