Leviticus 6:13 “Fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it shall not go out.’

DAILY READING – Luke 17; Genesis 29:1-30; Psalm 22

On December 11, 2013 CNN reported that a family of six who went into northwestern Nevada for a playful weekend in the snow, found their adventure turned into a fight for survival. While driving along, their car accidentally turned over, and slid down an embankment until it ended up in a crevice 15 miles from the town.
When dawn broke Monday to a temperature of 21 below zero, the situation for the family of two adults and four children had become desperate. However, instead of panicking the adults kept their heads. Realizing that by trying to trek out, they could get lost and make it harder for rescuers to find them, they rather decided to stay by their broken down car. The couple, who were without extra blankets, in order to keep everyone warm, started a fire outside.
Meanwhile after relatives reported them missing an intensive search were embarked upon for this family. Rescuers did find them about midday Tuesday, nearly 48 hours after the ordeal began. When the group was found, it was indeed amazing that none had a frostbite. This was chiefly attributed to their ability to start and maintain a fire and keep warm in the midst of the cold environment. Remarkably they were able to keep the children safe 48 hours in subzero temperatures.

Indeed to survive in a cold environment, a person must strive to keep warm. In the same way in these last days, we cannot afford to allow our spiritual temperature to go low. If you lose your fire, spiritual coldness will set in.

Mathew 24:12 says ‘And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.’
Truly in the world today iniquity is abounding. Spiritually, the world is in a cold climate. Evil and perverse behaviors are fast becoming the norm in the society. And for anyone to survive this spreading spiritual coldness, fire is a necessity. To be spiritually cold or lukewarm in this end-time is indeed dangerous.
In Revelations 3:15-16 Jesus says ‘So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.’
Indeed we must keep our fire burning. God’s will is for us to always be blazing hot in the spirit.
Psalm 104:4 says ‘He makes his messengers winds, and his ministers a flaming fire’.
We are to be the light of the world, a city set on an hill that cannot be hid. This is God’s agenda for the end-time church. And one of the ways to keep our fire burning is through in-depth study of God’s Word and a strong prayer life.
The truth is that though some people go to church today, they no longer feel any zeal in their relationship with God. Daily through contact with the world, or the influences of social media, some believers’ spiritual fire are going down. Gradually they find themselves losing their former zeal and passion for the things of God.
If that is your case today, if perhaps you sense you are losing your fire, then you need to act immediately. Through fasting, study of the Word and prayers, you can re-ignite your fire. Don’t continue in a state of spiritual coldness, it is too dangerous. Ignite the fire on your prayer alter, keep it burning and never allow it to go out.
Leviticus 6:13 says “The fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it shall not go out.”
The Holy Spirit is referred to in Isaiah 4, “as a spirit of burning’. And when His fire begins to burn in you, every spiritual coldness and lukewarmness will flee. You will operate with boldness of faith and dominate your environment by God’s Power. Indeed when you constantly carry the fire of The Spirit , you will be too hot for any devil to handle. Let us therefore endeavor today to always keep our fire burning. Maintaining our spiritual fire is what will protect us from the spreading coldness in the world and establish us in dominion in our environment.

PRAYER; Father, please destroy every spiritual coldness in me and set me on fire by Your Spirit. Let Your light so shine through me that men will be drawn into Your kingdom in Jesus Name.
