John 12:24 ‘Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit’

DAILY REAIDNG; Luke 13:18-35; Genesis 24; Psalm 17

Oral Roberts was one of the most remarkable Christian leaders of the 20th century. He was the founder of Oral Roberts University and Faith City, a medical school and hospital complex at Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Oral Roberts was born into a deeply religious, but poor family. His father and mother were ministers of the Gospel who had both received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in the wake of the famous Azuza Street revival in Los Angeles in 1906. While still pregnant with Oral, his mother had sensed God’s call upon him and so committed him to God’s service even before he was born. And even when Oral was born with a very strong stutter that made speaking difficult, his mother continued to assure him that one day God would use him to preach to multitudes.
As Oral grew older it kept looking like God’s promises over his life would never come to pass. Due to the poverty in their family, when Roberts was 16 years, he moved away from home, hoping for a better life. However he soon joined a wrong company, and rejected God and his upbringing and started living a wild life. But then his life took a drastic turn as he contracted tuberculosis and his health collapsed. His weight dropped to 120 pounds and he looked like a walking skeleton. Close to death, Oral then turned his heart back to God and gave his life to Christ.
Soon after that, a traveling healing evangelist came to their town to hold tent meetings and Oral’s family took him there. On their way to the meeting Oral heard God speak to him telling him that he would be healed and also be used to take God’s healing power to his generation. God also told him that he would build a University for Him.
At the meeting, Oral was instantly healed perfectly and his stutter also disappeared. After Oral was healed, he began to preach the Gospel and was later ordained as a minister. He would go on to become one of the most recognized preachers worldwide. He founded the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association and also founded the Oral Roberts University.

John 12:24 says ‘Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit’

Although God’s call was upon Oral Roberts even from the womb, he became distracted by worldly pursuits. But when eventually he fell like a seed to the ground and died to his own ways and desires, God’s promise began to fully manifest in his life.
Just like Oral Roberts, many believers today are getting distracted from following God’s call, because of the demands of the present. But we have to understand that the glory imbedded in us will only come into full manifestation when we are willing to take up our cross and fully follow Christ. We have to sincerely say to God ‘not my will but Yours be done ’. Indeed our lives will come into full bloom when we are willing to be first sown as seeds that will benefit both humanity and Divinity.
But even for the times when we miss God’s will, it is still comforting to know that His gifts and callings are without repentance. [Romans 11:29]
“Without repentance” means that God won’t change His mind about what He has called you to do. And if only we can repent from following our own ways and begin to follow His will, His promises will still come to pass in our lives.
Therefore regardless of where you may find yourself today, be assured that as you begin to seek God’s face and begin to follow His plan for you, His glorious promises concerning you will still come to pass.
In following God’s call, sometimes our destinies may seem like a seed planted in the ground. Just like a seed is hidden in the ground and looks like it will never manifest outwardly, our lives can sometimes appear like that. But when you put a seed in the ground you don’t say, “I’m burying this seed,” you say, “I am planting this seed,” because you expect something better to come out of it. And so like the seed planted in the ground, though initially it may seem as if you are surrounded by dirt, eventually there is coming a great manifestation from within you. A harvest is coming from your life that you have sown as a seed in God’s service.
Despite the hindrance of the dirt, sand and stones, because you have the seed of Almighty God on the inside, you are coming out greater and stronger.
No matter how the enemy tries to stop your destiny, the gifts and callings of God inside of you will soon come into full manifestation.
And even though initially it had looked as if you were grounded, God will cause to spring forth from you great and mighty things. You will arise and shine and indeed the glory of the Lord shall be seen all around you.
No matter what you face, be assured that the work God has started in your life, He is able to complete it. Therefore, refuse to be discouraged, rather stay strong in faith and keep giving glory to God. Surely the faithful One who has called you, will eventually bring to pass His promises in your life in Jesus Name.
