Ecclesiastes 12:13 ‘The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.’

During World War II, it was a total risk for the Ten Boom family to obey God’s Word, in the face of Nazi opposition. However, being devout Christians, Corrie ten Boom and her family made the costly choice to fear and honor God’s Word despite the risk.
As the Nazis killed thousands of Jews, they turned their home into a hiding place to harbor Jews from arrest. Corrie ten Boom became a leader in the movement to protect Jews, overseeing a network of “safe houses” in the country. Through these activities, it was estimated that 800 Jews’ lives were saved.
However on February 28, 1944, betrayed by a fellow Dutch citizen, the entire family was arrested and imprisoned. Miraculously though, the Jews hidden in their home were not found by the German soldiers despite thorough searches. They later escaped to safety.
Corrie and her sister Betsy were taken to the Ravensbrück concentration camp, a deadly women’s labor camp in Germany. Even there they still held worship services using a Bible Corrie had miraculously sneaked in, undetected. Though Betsy later died from illness, Corrie was released by divine intervention, due to a ‘clerical error’, where her name was wrongly placed among those to be freed, but before her captors could realize their mistake she was already gone. A week after her ‘wrong’ release, all the women in her age group were killed in the gas chambers. She started a worldwide ministry and later told her story in a book entitled ‘The Hiding Place.’

To fear God means to obey His Word no matter the cost.
Even when obedience may not be convenient, we must always walk in line with the Scriptures, asking God for the grace to do what is right. Obedience is proof that we love God. When it comes to taking decisions we must let ourselves be guided by the fear of God and allow His Word to have the final say.

In Ecclesiastes 12:13 Solomon said, “The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”

Solomon, the wisest man in his generation, tells us that life is all about fearing God and obeying His commandments.
No matter what we may think or what we may feel, as believers, the Scriptures must have the final authority in our lives. Our anthem ought to always be ‘Not my will but Yours be done’
In our business, marriage, career, we must let God’s Word have top priority. That is how we fear and honor God. And when we honor God He promises He will in turn honor us.

In 1 Samuel 2:30 God says ‘for them that honor Me, I will honor, and they that despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.’

Every commandment of God is absolutely for our benefit
Let us therefore today make the choice to show fear and reverence to God by making His Word our greatest priority. As we do so, we will find that God will in turn honor us and elevate us. He will set us apart and set us high above people in the world.

PRAYER: Lord, please help me to obey you always, even when it seems difficult, may Your will, only be done in my life now and always in Jesus Name.
