Hebrews 12:6-7 ‘For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

The Special Air Service (SAS) is a special unit of the British Army, equipped and trained for missions that are deemed impossible.
In September 2000, this Special Forces unit undertook a daring hostage rescue operation in the war-torn West African country of Sierra Leone.
11 British soldiers and one Sierra Leonean soldier had been captured by a vicious armed gang known as the West Side Boys. This extremely dangerous and unpredictable gang had kept these hostages hidden deep in the jungle.

Fearing the execution of their soldiers, the British government tried to negotiate with the gang for their release. But when negotiations broke down, the SAS special forces were then dispatched to Sierra Leone to execute a daring rescue operation codenamed ‘Operation Barras’.

It was a high-risk operation, that meant the team had to travel by boat to hide in the deep jungle near the West Side Boys’ bases. This British special troop endured grueling days of living silently in dense vegetation, suffering insect bites and other irritants.
On September 10, against the odds, the special forces invaded the base of the west side boys. At some point these soldiers had to jump out of the helicopters into a waist-deep swamp, to engage the west side boys in a bitter fighting. The British special troop eventually emerged victorious and rescued all the hostages.
The skill and professionalism of Britain’s Special Forces were applauded globally, however it was a result of years of intense training, where they are equipped to survive in the toughest conditions.
SAS selection is one of the most grueling military training courses in the world, where barely 10% of the participants pass.
However successful candidates who endure to the end are badged and posted to become part of this celebrated British Special forces.

As believers in this end-times we are God’s special troop. We are the sons of God dispatched on earth for the special rescue mission of captives held in the wicked grip of the devil.
Indeed the whole earth is groaning , waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God to rescue them.

God has given us a divine assignment to go into all the world and preach the Gospel for the rescue and deliverance of mankind. And for us to be successful in this mission we must be willing to subject ourselves to rigorous spiritual training and discipline. Remember that our wrestle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places. And if our mission is to rescue souls then we must first be empowered to bind the strong man holding them captive.

Therefore for us to be successful we must grow in spiritual maturity. We must grow in the spiritual discipline of prayer, worship, diligent study of the Word, fasting , fellowship with the Spirit, etc.

No one can fulfill God’s divine mandate while living an untrained and undisciplined life. Spiritual discipline is what shapes and sharpens us for victory in our assignment. Being sons of God means we must continually subject ourselves to His discipline, chastening and corrections.

Hebrews 12:6-7 says ‘For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

Indeed to be victorious, we need to discipline ourselves to constantly hear God’s Word and promptly follow His instructions. Through high level spiritual discipline we will become fully trained and equipped to operate as sons of God and successfully carry out His divine rescue operation on earth.

PRAYER; Lord please help me to constantly subject myself to spiritual discipline of Your Word and the guidance of Your Spirit. Thank You Lord for the grace to fulfill Your divine assignment for my life in Jesus Name.
