Zechariah 2:5 ‘For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.’
DAILY READING – Matthew 16; Numbers 1-2; Ecclesiastes 3:1-15
In October 2022, the Christian Broadcasting Network [CBN], featured the amazing story of Russ Ardebili. Russ was born to Muslim parents in Iran but when he left Iran to go to College in America, he became convinced about Christianity and surrendered his life to Christ.
While Russ was still in the United States, in 1979, his country, Iran underwent a drastic change as the Ayatollah Khomeini came to power and began to promote radical Islam. This made Russ afraid to return home. But when his mother fell sick, he had to move back to Iran to care of her. While there, Russ began telling people about Jesus but was soon arrested and imprisoned by the new radical Muslim government.
They beat Russ severely until his blood was dripping on the floor. Yet miraculously he never felt any pain. Any time they beat him, he just began praising the Lord. He would smile at his tormentors and tell them ‘God bless you.’ His attitude stunned them.
When he was finally released, Russ got a job as a foreman with a mining company. But even there he faced persecution. One day, fellow workers who were radical muslims pushed him into an old snake pit, at the edge of the desert. As he fell, he broke his legs and shattered the bones.
He spent hours in that pit, praying and screaming for help. There were a lot of poisonous snakes and spiders, crawling around him, yet none bit him. Later that night, his boss came looking for him, found him and pulled him out.
An ambulance was called and they rushed him to the hospital, where he underwent a ten-hour surgery on his leg and hip.
When Russ was released from the hospital, he escaped to Turkey and eventually sought asylum in the U.S., where he now lives and freely shares the Gospel.
As a child of God, you may be in a situation where people are trying to attack you, but because of God’s Presence, it will be impossible for you to be defeated.
A life of praise, ensures God’s Presence constantly surround us and protects us.
Every redeemed child of God is in a covenant of divine protection with God.
After suffering a ship wreck on the island of Melita, Paul was gathering sticks, when a serpent fastened on his hand. But God’s Presence was so thick around Paul that he simply shook off the beast into the fire and felt no harm.
The mystery of divine protection shielded Paul many times during his ministry. In 2 Timothy 4:18 Paul said “And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack ‘
As believers, we are rescued from every evil attack because God is our defender and He has placed us under the security watch of His angels [Psalm 91:11].
In these last days, while wickedness increases in the world, God has not left us defenseless, He will be a wall of fire round about us.[Zechariah 2:5]
Truly, God’s protection is the ultimate. Every human protection has its own limit but God never sleeps nor slumbers.
However to enjoy His divine protection and exemption, we must ensure we are dwelling in the secret place of the Most High, through maintaining a loving intimate relationship with Him.
As we walk in obedience to His Word, the Lord will be our refuge, and certainly, no evil shall befall us, nor any plague come near our dwelling.
PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for the covenant of divine exemption over my life. Please enable me to always abide in Your Presence and live in obedience to Your Word, so that I can enjoy continuous divine exemption in Jesus Name. ..
