Hebrews 1:3 ‘Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:’
DAILY READING; Matthew 12:1-21; Leviticus 14; Proverbs 26
In the US, the president has complete authority to launch nuclear weapons and he’s the only one that has the sole authority to do so.
Everywhere the US president goes, he is followed about by an aide carrying the nuclear “football”, which contains the launch codes for the nation’s nuclear weapons. Whether he’s up a mountain, travelling in a helicopter or sailing across the ocean, the president has the ability to launch a nuclear strike. All he has to do is say the words and nuclear attacks could be achieved within minutes.
Other leaders of nations with nuclear capability also carry around their “nuclear briefcase”. This is a specially outfitted briefcase used to authorize the use of nuclear weapons and is usually kept nearby the nation’s leader at all times.
However, there has been widespread speculation that concentrating such power within a single individual is a big risk.
The disturbing possibilities are that the president could make a wrong decision at a time when he is not functioning at his highest mental level.
An example of this was in August 1974, when US President Richard Nixon was embroiled in the Watergate scandal and on the cusp of resigning from office. He became clinically depressed and emotionally unstable and was reportedly subject to rage, drinking and potent prescription drugs. His emotional state became a great concern because as president he still had the power to launch nuclear weapons.
There have also been other instances where the nuclear “football” could have fallen into the wrong hands or where world leaders could have mistakenly started nuclear wars, yet God never allowed any of these to happen.
Truly, if the fate of the world was in the hands of humans, no one would be alive today. But because of the Lord’s mercies we have not been consumed, His mercies continue to preserve humanity from self-destruction.
Certainly God is in control and He is running things according to His divine agenda
We never have to worry about God’s capability in running the universe. He never sleeps nor slumbers. He never makes mistakes, or wonders what decision to take.
And just as He is in perfect control of the universe, so is He in perfect control of our lives. Before we were even conceived God considered everything that could affect our lives, including the course of world events. He even knows the number of hair that would be on our head (Luke 12:7)
Nothing happens without His permission and despite how uncertain things may sometimes seem, our lives are in His hands.
Indeed God upholds all things by the Word of His Power.
All we have to do is obey His Word and walk in faith and He will also uphold us by His Word.
Despite the fears and uncertainties in the world, God is able to keep us from all harm and perfect all that concerns us.
Indeed our safety and security are not in the hands of any man, or government, but in God’s hands.
This is why we do not have to fret or get distraught over the concerns of life.
Sometimes we get caught up in our own little problems and forget that God is always in perfect control. We fret over what to eat and drink and forget about the One who watches over the earth as it hurtles through space at about 67,000 mph in its orbit around the sun.
Our personal concerns pale in significance when compared to the vast workings of the universe. We must therefore trust that God who calls the stars by name and they stand up, is able to call forth signs and wonders in our lives.
No matter what may be your concern today, be rest assured that God is able to take care of it.
All you need to do is build up your faith through diligent study of the Word so as to believe for your miracle.
Certainly, when we believe all things shall be possible to us.
PRAYER: Father, I thank You for the grace to continually fill my heart with Your Word, so that I can always walk in faith and trust You to do even the impossible in my life now and always in Jesus Name.
