Job 5:12-14 ‘He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.’
DAILY READING; • Matthew 26:26-46; Deuteronomy 1-2; Job 4
Solomon Louis Ginsburg was a Baptist missionary to Brazil for thirty-five years. He was a man mighty in prayers and the Blood of Jesus Christ was the theme of his message down through the years. By the Blood he saw many miracles performed in his life and had remarkable deliverances.
In the northern section of the state of Pernambuco there was a band of bandits who were roving about and committing many atrocities. Their chief was named Antonio Silvino, a daring and desperate criminal who had a well-founded reputation for quick and accurate shooting.
The enemies of Solomon Louis Ginsburg told this bandit some wild stories about him and then hired the bandit to kill the missionary. They found out that on a certain morning he was to visit the village of Moganga to preach and so sent the bandit to waylay him. Solomon Louis Ginsburg left his station at two o’clock in the morning and embarked on the journey to the village. About five o’clock he saw by the road a man holding a double-barreled gun. Thinking the man was out hunting, Ginsburg stopped his horse, greeted the man in a friendly fashion, then rode on. He had no idea the man was there waiting to shoot him, but somehow the power of God had paralyzed him.
The people of Moganga, turned out in great crowds for the evening meeting which lasted till almost midnight. Utterly exhausted, Ginsburg lay down in a room provided for him to sleep. In the night, there was a knock at the door and a voice said, “I am Antonio Silvino and I want to see Senor Solomao.”
Ginsburg stepped into the adjoining room where the visitor was waiting.
“Do you know who I am and why I have come here?” asked the bandit.
The bandit with tears confessed to Ginsburg that he had been hired to kill . He said: “They said you were a wicked, dangerous person and gave me money to kill you. Early this morning you spoke to me so kindly I decided not to shoot you at once but to find out more about you. I was present in disguise at the meeting tonight while you were singing and praying and preaching. Sir, I know now that you are doing a good work and I will not kill you. I had rather kill the man who told me such lies about you.”
They talked and prayed the rest of the night. The bandit, who had killed sixty-six persons, was converted and later the transformation in his life became the talk of the entire region. Even the Newspapers reported : “All Antonio Silvino will talk about is the Bible…”
Throughout the time of his ministry Solomon Louis Ginsburg faced a lot of oppositions and several attempts were made at his life, but he was a firm believer in the Blood of Jesus to protect him from all harm.
As the power of God overwhelmed the bandit from harming the missionary, this has been the story for many of us this year.
Some of us had come close to things that were meant to destroy us, but somehow God stopped the mouth of the lions and disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands could not perform their enterprise.[ Job 5:12-14].
The Holy Spirit has hidden us from the secret counsel of the wicked and from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity (Psalms 64:2).
Despite all their evil plots, the Lord has continued to be our strength and sustainer, delivering us from all harm.
Even those times we had walked through the valley of the shadow of death, the Blood of Jesus had brought swift deliverance.
Indeed the fountain of the Blood never runs dry and is our ever constant shield from the evil in the world.
In the book of Exodus, the Blood effectively protected the Israelites from the plagues of Egypt. Through the blood applied to the doorposts, while the plague raged in Egypt, God kept His people safe under the covering of the blood. .
In Exodus 12:13, God said ‘And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.’
In the same way, today, the Blood of Jesus continues to protect us from every plague on the earth. As we daily plead the Blood, no evil shall befall us and no plague can come near our dwelling place.
The Blood of Jesus ever remains powerful to protect us from the arrows of the wicked, from sickness, from harm and from every evil on the earth. The power in the Blood of Christ is ever sufficient to cover and protect us at all times .
As we arrive at the last day of the month of November today, let us look back and truly thank God for His many grace and mercies. By the help of the Holy Spirit we have truly overcome and shall continue to overcome.
As we draw the curtain on the month of November, let us also deliberately draw the curtain on everything that has tried to hinder us in any way. Let us get ready to step into new glorious colours as we come into the crowning season of the year where God has indeed saved the best for the last .
PRAYER: Lord, I thank You the amazing help of Your Spirit throughout this month. Thank You Lord for the constant shield of the Blood around me and my family now and always in Jesus Name.
