Robin Williams was an American actor and comedian, who is regarded as one of the best comedians of all time.
He enjoyed nearly all of the accomplishments that one could hope for in his field, tasted the richest successes and won most of the major awards
However, in the later years of his career, Williams faced daunting challenges, both professionally and personally. His film career had stalled, and his comeback sitcom, ‘The Crazy Ones’, was failing to find an audience.
Also he received a shocking diagnosis in May 2014, that he had Parkinson’s disease. This sad news stunned and overwhelmed Robin Williams.
Under the supervision of his doctor, Robin started taking different anti-psychotic medications, but each prescription only seemed to alleviate some symptoms while making others worse.
All these problems began to produce in him a sudden and prolonged spike in fear and anxiety, stress and insomnia, which worsened in severity to include memory loss, paranoia, and delusions. In 2013, those around him noted that he suffered from very severe depression.
On August 11, 2014, he was found suspended by a belt in a manner consistent with a self-inflicted hanging. He was also found having several self-inflicted wounds on his wrists and a small knife was found near his body, showing very clearly that it was a suicide. It appeared that the overwhelming anxiety he suffered from had finally pushed him over the edge.
Indeed anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness of this age. According to a recent report by the World Health Organization, anxiety disorders are on the increase globally. Especially as the economic situation worsens, fretting in the general population seems to be on the rise.
As believers, we must understand that God has our lives and destinies in His hands. This is why we never have to worry or give room to anxiety. We are not without help in this world, God is our ever present help at every time of need.
Philippians 4:6 says ‘be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God’.
Instead of worrying, we have to trust that God is in perfect control and learn to cast all our cares on Him. We look to Him in every situation knowing that He will definitely work things out for our good..
Indeed worry never solves any problem. Worry is like a rocking chair; requiring a lot of energy, and yet it gets you nowhere. To experience a divine turnaround, we must keep rejoicing in the Lord in the face of any challenge.
Habakkuk 3:17-19 says ‘Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places’
Indeed God is able to turn around any situation for us. As we continue to stand in faith and claim His promises, it is only a matter of time before we experience a supernatural change of story.
Faith is the connection to our miracle. The more we study the Word, the more we will receive revelation of God’s divine power and ability to deliver us. This is what makes us to trust in Him and not become anxious over any concern. Rather we will be full of praise, knowing that God is at work in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure.
Therefore today, never allow any situation to depress you or steal your joy. Instead, learn to turn your worry into worship. Rather than wasting energy in worrying, invest that energy in praise. Every time you’re tempted to worry, turn it around and thank God for His blessings. Certainly, the more you praise, the more you will be raised out of every pit.
PRAYER: Lord, please help to stop worrying about things I have no control over, I trust you are in control of my life, and I know that even right now you are working out everything for my good. in Jesus Name. .
