Hebrews 10:36 ‘For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.”
DAILY READING; Matthew 22:1-22; Numbers 21; Song of Solomon 1:1-2:7
Bishop Curtis “Earthquake” Kelley is a former heavyweight boxer who is founder and pastor of The Bridge of Deliverance International in Hollywood, California. He was born to parents who were from Haiti. His father practiced voodoo, while his mother was a devout Pentecostal Christian.
His father was intent on initiating Curtis into voodoo practice and by age four he was taught to smoke marijuana and by age ten he started using cocaine.
But his mother prayed fervently for his salvation. At first it appeared her prayers were not working as Curtis only became more deeply involved in the occult and was also addicted to drugs.
In 1971 at age fifteen, he went to a place where he overdosed on large quantities of cocaine, pills, and marijuana. While he was being taken back home, he died in the car.
Curtis went to hell and faced unimaginable torments. But suddenly there came a Great Light and he saw two hands come down, grab him by his shoulders, and pull him up out of the pit of hell. Then he heard a voice tell him he was being saved because of his mother’s prayers and because he had been chosen to do a work for God.
After this experience, Curtis resurrected from the dead and soon surrendered his life to Christ. As he began serving God, he had the opportunity to train as a boxer for the 1984 Olympics. People began calling him “Earthquake” after one of his punches felled an opponent. Today, he has retired from professional boxing and ministers the Gospel worldwide.
Bishop Curtis’ mother could have given up when it seemed her prayer was not being answered. But because she persisted, she eventually saw the manifestation of God’s promises.
It certainly takes patience to obtain the promises of God.
If you are praying over any situation and it only seems to be getting worse, don’t get discouraged.
Why we sometimes miss out on God’s best is because we become impatient with the process that births the promise.
But we must be conscious that we are in a warfare, with an enemy who fights hard to try to discourage us from seeing our harvest..
Therefore, to see results, we must discipline ourselves to be spiritually persistent in believing God’s Word.
When you locate God’s promise in His Word, and fulfill the conditions, then remain persistent in faith because God always keeps covenant.
In 1 Samuel 16 Prophet Samuel anointed David to be the next king when he was still a youth, but thirteen years went by, and there was no sign of it happening. Rather it seemed the worst of times for David as he was pursued up and down by Saul. But eventually king Saul was killed in a battle and David soon became the king, just as God had promised him.
We must refuse to grow weary because weariness is a strategy the enemy uses to try to get you to give up when you are closest to your miracle. Many times breakdowns come just before the point of your breakthrough. But no matter how hard the road may seem keep going forward, we must continue to travail in prayers in order to prevail.
Today, while it may seem late in the year, it is certainly not too late to see the fulfillment of the year’s prophesies in your life. God knows how to deal with impossibilities on your path, so keep praising Him and soon you will receive a divine surprise that will exceed all your expectations.
PRAYER: Father, please help me not to grow weary in well doing. I thank You for the grace and strength to keep pressing forward because by Your grace I shall soon see mighty manifestations of Your promises in my life in Jesus Name.
