Galatians 2:20 ‘I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.’

Darryl Strawberry was one of the most electrifying players in Major League Baseball history. He reached the peak of success, winning several awards and was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated seven times. However achieving greatness almost led him to self-destruction.
Darryl had started his sports career with the New York Mets. There, older players introduced the 21-year-old Darryl to cocaine.
From then on, while his career outwardly skyrocketed, he began dying on the inside as he became addicted to drugs.
Becoming rich and famous, he lived a lifestyle of womanizing, drinking and drug addiction. However he remained miserable and there was an emptiness inside of him.
In 1991, he attended a convention by evangelist Morris Cerello where he gave his life to Christ. But though he got saved, he didn’t submit to spiritual discipline and soon went back to the familiar lifestyle of sin.
Despite more than $30 million in earnings, he came to financial ruin. His life became shaken by drug and alcohol abuse, adultery, imprisonment, and bouts with colon and kidney cancer.
When he had lost virtually everything, and almost lost his life, God made it clear that he needed to center his life on Christ.
He therefore fully surrendered to Christ and committed to a life of seeking God’s Word. He later began serving as a pastor, going into prisons and preaching the Gospel, and eventually established the Darryl Strawberry Foundation.
At Liberty University’s Convocation on 12th October 2015, he shared his life story and concluded by saying;
“I have been crucified with Christ,” he said. “My life has been transformed. I no longer live, it is Christ who lives through me.”
Indeed Darryl Strawberry’s transformation from drug addict to pastor and soul winner is a miraculous testimony of the deliverance power of the cross.
Galatians 2:20 says ‘I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.’
The moment we give our lives to Christ we begin the most important race of our lives. However, though we may start well, as the race progresses, we often face hurdles of temptations and struggle with sin.
No matter how much a man desires to be good, until he has crucified his sinful flesh nature, he may find himself going back to his vomit and former lifestyle.
This is why we need to continually come to God’s Word to receive the power to overcome.
The transformation power that Christ purchased for us at the Cross is embedded in God’s Word. As we look into the Word, we receive the power to be transformed into the image of Christ. As many as receive the Word, also receive the power to become the sons of God.
Trying to live the Christian life by our own strength will only lead to failure. But as we connect to God’s Word and begin to engage the power in the Blood against the forces of sin, we will experience continual victory.
The deeper we go into God’s Word, the more the nature of God takes us over and the more the temptations of the sin and the flesh dies in us.
Anyone who is serious about living for God must accept the spiritual responsibility of daily coming to the Word so as to receive faith and power to live a victorious Christian life.
As believers in these last days we can’t afford to be spiritually lazy. With the increasing tempo of temptations and spiritual warfare, we must be ready to engage the power of the Blood against every assault of hell.
There is power in the Blood to break every chain and bondage and give you a complete change of story. Indeed by the Blood you can experience a total turn around in every area of your life. There is power in the Blood to overcome every sickness, financial troubles, relationship crisis, trials and temptations.
It doesn’t matter the battle you may face today, as you engage the great mystery of the Blood, you will overcome every mystery of iniquity and silence every opposition to your progress in life and destiny.
PRAYER: Lord I thank You for the power that is in the Blood of Jesus. Today as I begin to engage the weapon of the Blood against every challenge, I know that my victory is continually assured in Jesus Name.
