Dr. Nelson Bell and his wife were among the earliest missionaries to China. In 1916, just 6 months after their wedding they obeyed God’s call and left behind their home in the United States and sailed to China. At that time, China was a land where only a handful of missionaries dared to go because it was fraught with political tension and chaos. Additionally, the superstitious Chinese people eyed missionaries with distrust. When Dr. Bell and his wife arrived in this hostile environment, they established a hospital as an avenue of preaching the Gospel. Dr. Bell soon won the hearts of many Chinese people through his remarkable ability to diagnose and treat illness and to perform restorative surgeries on those who had no hope.
He regularly performed fifteen operations a day, usually with success. In time, Dr. Bell opened clinics in the countryside in order to reach more people with both medicine and the Gospel. Dr. Bell also continued to improve his abilities as a physician by always learning and seeking the highest standards of medical excellence. His fame as a surgeon and physician spread around the world, particularly after he helped to improve the treatment for black fever.. His work earned him membership as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
As a missionary, Dr. Bell eventually influenced many Chinese people and won numerous souls to Jesus.
The exemplary Christian lives of Dr. Bell and his wife also shaped the lives of their children, especially their second daughter, Ruth Bell, who would later become wife to evangelist Billy Graham.
Dr. Bell became a valued mentor to Billy Graham whose evangelistic outreaches positively affected millions of people around the world. Dr. Bell attributed his success in life and ministry to the quiet times he spent in God’s Presence where he received guidance and wisdom.

Just as Dr. Bell’s success secret was waiting upon the Lord, likewise, we will accomplish great exploits when we diligently seek the Lord. The truth is that it will take God to execute the divine assignment He has given to us. So, to see the manifestations of our visions and dreams we must have a daily time of fellowship where God directs us on what next to do.
How dedicated you are in seeking God, determines how distinguished you will become in life. Certainly, God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Whatever time, resources and labour we invest into His kingdom is never in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:58 says, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.’

When we commit ourselves to diligently serving the interests of His Kingdom, then God commits Himself to opening up Heaven’s treasure to us. These includes prosperity, divine health, longevity, preservation of our children and families etc. Exodus 23:25 – 26 says ‘And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.’

To break forth to glorious heights, we must focus on seeking God and obeying His Word. Maintaining God as your focus is what turns you into a focus among men. When we put God first in our lives, He will place us first in His priorities. Truly, our choice for dedication today will guarantee our distinction tomorrow.

PRAYER: Lord, I appreciate You for Your marvelous help in my life. Please, enable me to always keep my focus on You and to serve You with all my heart. As I do, I thank You for the manifestation of Your great blessings in my life in Jesus Name.
