Bezalel Prison Ministries was founded in 2016 by Richard D. Mangone. Richard served 18 years in prison—the longest sentence for a white-collar crime in Massachusetts. Richard’s downfall began with greed. In 1980, he started a successful business that grew to 20 branches and earned him millions legally. But he wanted more. In 1985, he co-founded a financial institution used to secure fraudulent loans. With the illegal funds, he bought a mansion, luxury cars, a plane, and real estate worth $20 million. Still unsatisfied, he got involved in even more fraud. Eventually, in 1991, auditors uncovered his crimes and he was indicted. While out on bail, Richard fled and became a fugitive, listed on the Federal Most-Wanted list for over a year.
At his lowest point, broke and hopeless, Richard planned to take his own life. Just hours before, he happened to watch an evangelist preaching about Jesus on TV. Deeply moved, he cried out to God, asked for forgiveness, and gave his life to Christ. He soon surrendered to authorities and began his prison sentence. During those 18 years, he devoted himself to serving God. After his release, he founded Bezalel Prison Ministries and wrote a book about his journey titled Busted: A Banker’s Run to Prison.
The quest for success often comes with temptations of every kind. Opportunities to cut corners or engage in ‘sharp practice’ will often come. How we treat such moments will determine if we rise or fall..
As believers, to experience the divine elevations and break-forth ordained for us, we must carefully avoid anything that will compromise our integrity.
God watches how faithful we are in the little before He releases more our way.
We will often have to pass examinations at our current level before we are promoted to our new level.
Gehaz was to receive a double portion of Elisha’s anointing , but he failed the test of financial integrity and ended up rather with leprosy.
Indeed great testimonies are often preceded by great tests.
Joseph would have lost the throne of Egypt, if he had caved in to the temptations of Portiphar’s wife.
To secure our glorious destiny we must guard against lowering our moral standard because no man can rise above the limitations of his own character.
But even when we sometimes miss the mark, God is able to turn things around and make miracles out of our mistakes. We serve the God of second chances, who is able to re-paint our story on the canvas of His grace and glory.
Despite what may have transpired in your past, you can arise out of every limitation and move into God’s grand plan for you. It doesn’t matter where you have been, what matters is where you are going. The door of destiny is only shut against those who refuse to keep moving forward.
As we make a fresh commitment to strictly obey God’s Word and walk in integrity, doors of opportunity will begin to open to us. It will be our season to be ushered into greater levels of breakthroughs and overflowing blessings.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask for the grace to always maintain integrity and walk in fear and reverence of Your Word in all my dealings. As I do, I thank You for connecting me to my next level and taking me to greater heights in Jesus Name.
