Psalm 124:6-8 ‘Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth”.

In Biblical Times, birds of all kinds abounded in Palestine, and the capture of these birds formed the employment of many persons. Those who developed the expertise and became professional bird catchers were known as fowlers. Fowlers made their income from selling captured birds. Some of the birds were sold to people who wanted them as pets.
Others bought them for use as sacrifices, especially doves and pigeons. Many people of the poorer classes, bought the birds to be devoured as food. The way fowlers captured birds was by trapping them. They would spread a net on the ground and attach it to a trap or snare. The fowler would then sprinkle some corn on the ground near the trap, and when the bird came to eat the corn, the trap would spring and a net would fly over the bird and capture it.
To further capture more birds, the fowler would sew a captured bird’s eyelids together and keep it caged. As the bird cried in anguish, the cry would attract large numbers of other birds, who through curiosity would come to investigate. As these birds approached, they too would be snared or killed by the fowler.
The activities of the fowlers are often used in the Bible to describe the works of the devil and his agents. Hosea 9:8 says “For among my people are found wicked men: they watch, as fowlers lie in wait; they set a trap, they catch men.”
It is a sad but true fact that as we pursue greater heights of success, there are those who focus on how to set traps for our downfall.
From such enemies of progress we need God’s grace to deliver us.
What a joy to know that Psalms 91:3 says “Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence”.
The fowlers who seek to set snares for our fleet will end up falling into their own traps. No matter how they gather, we have divine assurance they will fall for our sake. We just need to abide closer to God and watch Him fight our battles.
As long as we walk in covenant with God, He has promised that no evil shall befall us, neither shall any plague come near our dwelling place. His Name is a strong tower that we run into and we are safe.
We serve the God who is mighty to save and deliver us from every trap of the fowler.
Psalm 124:7 says “Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped”.
With strong faith in God, nothing and no one can stop your forward movement. In this year of your breaking forth, whatever the enemy meant for evil will turn around for your good. Stumbling blocks will turn to your stepping stones..Certainly this is your season to keep breaking forth to enviable heights and rising from glory to greater realms of glory.
PRAYER: Lord, Thank You for granting me the grace to continually abide under Your divine protection in these perilous times. I have indeed escaped every trap of the wicked and will keep ascending to higher grounds in all my endeavors in Jesus Name.
