In 1939, 17-year-old John Osteen worked at a theater and often spent his nights at clubs. John’s plan for his future was mostly about worldly pursuits of pleasure. He had no fear of God, having been raised in a family that knew little about God. Though John had a Christian friend named Sam who often preached to him, he refused to listen.
One day, John was walking home from a nightclub at 2 am in the morning, when for some reason he looked up at the stars and began to think about eternity. When he got home, he went to a Bible on their coffee table kept there just for decoration. When he opened the Bible, it fell open to a page with the picture of Jesus standing at a door and knocking. The caption read, “If you open the door I’ll come in”.
The next morning John Osteen chose to open his heart to Christ. He went to church with Sam and gave his life to Christ.
John’s newfound faith ignited an unstoppable passion within him. He and Sam began sharing the Gospel everywhere . Following divine purpose shaped John’s future and led to the founding of Lakewood Church on May 10th 1959.
John Osteen established a great reputation as a fiery preacher, impassioned evangelist and author of over 50 books. Today, his youngest son, Joel Osteen overseas the Church’s which has grown in membership to over 52000. By 2011 Lakewood Church became known as America’s largest megachurch.
The master plan of God for us is good success (Joshua 1:8). But it will only manifest when we come to God and begin to follow His purpose for us.
John Osteen’s decision to serve God changed his direction in life, from a life of folly and fun-seeking, to a life of achieving exploits and global influence.
Our progress in life depends on our obedience to divine counsel. If we desire to make a success of our lives, then we must become determined to pay the required spiritual price of fervently seeking the Lord.
He is the One that teaches us to profit and leads us in the way we should go [Isaiah 48:17].
The best of our wisdom and our logical thinking is not a substitute for divine guidance. When you are guided you cannot be grounded. When the Lord is your Shepherd, He will lead you to your green pastures.
In Exodus 23:20, God told the Israelites He would send His angel to keep them in the way, and to bring them into the place which He had prepared for them.
Certainly, there is a prepared place of glory for us this year, but it will take divine grace and guidance to get there.
When we take responsibility and tune our lives to the correct spiritual frequency, our steps will be ordered and our paths will keep shining brighter and brighter. .
As we continually seek divine counsel through consistent study of the Word, prayers and fellowship with the Spirit, it is only a matter of time before we fully experience the manifestation of His plan of glory for our lives.
PRAYER: Please Lord, grant me the grace to cultivate greater sensitivity to Your leadings. As I follow Your divine signals, I thank You for guiding me to the glorious opportunities and breakthroughs You have planned for me in Jesus Name.
