In 2005, Captain Frank Diorio’s military unit came under the largest attack ever experienced by any coalition unit in the history of the Iraq war.
That year, on April 11, insurgents launched a three days of intense attacks against the military base in Husaybah, Iraq where Frank Diorio was in charge. The enemy fighters unleashed gun fire, grenades and explosive devices..
Their base was hit by three suicide vehicles loaded with 2,000lbs of explosives. Another two suicide vehicles loaded with explosives breached the perimeter of their bases followed by a ground attack.
These relentless three-day attacks led Frank to pray constantly. Rather than devastate him, the attacks rather drew him closer to God. He greatly depended on God for protection and guidance and felt surrounded by divine presence in the midst of the battles.
His quick reactions and sound decisions enabled his company to fend off the insurgents, inflicting a high number of casualties on the enemy.
Miraculously, he didn’t lose a single soldier in this overwhelming battle.Throughout his service in Iraq, despite enduring over 300 attacks, not a single soldier died under Frank’s command.
After his safe return back to the U.S, on March 13, 2006, Frank Diorio was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his outstanding service. In his interviews with the Media, he always credited God’s Presence for his amazing exploits and preservation in Iraq.
David was the king that fought the greatest battles in ancient Israel, yet God preserved him through them all. The more battles David fought the stronger he became while his enemies grew weaker.
2 Samuel 3:1 says, “David grew stronger and stronger, while the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker.”
As believers, we may sometimes go through a season of overwhelming battles. But no matter what happens, God will cause us to come out stronger, better and wiser.
Through every trial, temptation, rejection, pain, and hurt, a better version of you is emerging. What the devil meant for evil will eventually work out for your greater good.
When Christ is your anchor, the storms that come to blow you backwards, will only end up blowing you forward. The winds may sway you, even bend you, but you will never break because you are being upheld by God’s Word.
Though you may walk through the fire and the water, God will preserve you from trouble. He will cover your head in battle and give you the victory over your adversaries.
Therefore when you face tough battles, rather being afraid or dismayed, trust that God is turning the adversity to your advantage.
If today you are facing a medical diagnosis or financial report that seems overwhelming, rather than fear, let God’s Word dominate your heart. Through in-depth study of the Word, you will connect to the faith that will cause you to emerge victorious. The trial that came to break you down, will only cause you to breakthrough and breaking forth to glorious realms.
Therefore in every situation, keep praising and keep blessing God for His faithfulness because as you have put your trust in Him, surely, you shall never be ashamed.
PRAYER: Lord, Please help me to maintain my praise in every circumstance. No matter what comes my way I know You are working it all for my good and causing me to emerge better and stronger in Jesus Name.
