In April 2015, a very interesting thing happened in a college track & field meet.
This competition featured teams from the universities of Oregon, Kentucky and Washington.
During the 3000m Steeplechase race, the runner from the University of Oregon named Tanguy Pepiot, took the lead. He was followed by the runner from the University of Washington named Meron Simon. As Tanguy neared the finish line, he had put more than 10 meters between him and Meron . At this point, with only a little distance to the finish line, Tanguy became confident that he had already won the race, he slowed down and began waving his arms in the air to the cheering crowd. As he began to glide toward the tape, he did not realize that Meron was fast bearing down on him with great speed.
By the time he saw Meron it was too late. With a last burst of speed, Meron zipped past the bewildered Tanguy and crossed the finish line first, winning the race.
It was an extremely close finish. According to the official time, Tanguy had lost by 0.10 seconds. He would have been the winner if only he had focused till the end and not given in to the distraction of the applauding crowd.

In the race of life we need to keep our eyes on the prize and not let down our guard to any distraction, no matter how well intentioned.
Indeed to achieve our God-ordained goal, we must discipline our focus on our priorities.
1 Corinthians 1: 24 says ‘Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.’

If we truly desire the prize of breaking forth to greater heights, then we must beware of the distractions and temptations that often come at the point of breakthroughs.
The surest way to be defeated in life’s race is to lose focus of your boal.
The greatest challenge that faces everyone who is pursuing their dreams is distraction, especially from people on the sidelines who are going nowhere. Distraction is often the devil’s strategy to keep you from achieving your target. While the enemy may not try to stop you from starting your pursuit, he’ll work overtime to try to keep you from succeeding. Distractions are the side attractions he uses to keep your attention from your destination. This is why we must never allow the happenings around us to stop us from our goal.
In this season of changing levels, we must maintain our focus on God’s Word and follow the leading of the Spirit.
By God’s grace we will not give up or settle for less until we cross over to the new levels of life God has ordained for us.
Let us discipline ourselves to stay focused on the goal of moving to higher grounds in every area of our lives this year. It is indeed our time to break forth to greater levels of divine health, wealth, progress, peace joy and all round blessings.

PRAYER: Lord, Please help me to always keep my focus on Your Word and the guidance of Your Spirit. I know indeed You are working out all things for my good, and causing me to indeed break forth to greater levels of destiny in Jesus Name. .
