Proverbs 4:18
‘But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.’

George Herman “Babe” Ruth was a legendary baseball player who overcame a troubled, vice-filled past to become a celebrated sports icon. Known as one of the greatest sluggers in Major League Baseball history, Babe Ruth’s early life was far from glamorous. Raised in a rough part of Baltimore, Ruth was constantly in trouble. As a boy, he was known for stealing, fighting, and skipping school. His behavior was so unruly that at the age of seven, his parents placed him in St. Mary’s Industrial School for Boys—a reformatory and orphanage run by a church. While there, Ruth began to learn discipline, respect, and most importantly, faith. The strict but caring environment helped mold him. It was also where he was introduced to baseball by Brother Matthias, who became a father figure to him.

Though Ruth rose to fame and wealth in adulthood, he never forgot the lessons of his youth. Later in life, he publicly spoke about his faith, expressing regret for his wild living and acknowledging God’s hand in his transformation. In one of his final letters, Ruth wrote, “The older I get, the more I realize how important it is to be right with God.”

From a troubled youth to a sports icon, Babe Ruth’s life reminds us that our messed-up past never disqualifies us from God’s glorious future for us.

As a child of God, within you is glory, greatness, victory, and excellence. Therefore, do not define yourself by your past or present struggles.
In the face of discouraging circumstances, keep reminding yourself of who God says you are. God’s Word says you are the head and not the tail; you are blessed, talented, and more than a conqueror.
However, the journey to our glorious destiny must be accompanied by the quest for Christlikeness. This demands a firm decision to deal with any character defect that could dent our Christian testimony.
God has predestined us to become daily more like Christ through being transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2).
The word “transformed” in the original language is “metamorpho,” which is where we get the word “metamorphosis.”
Just like a crawling worm metamorphoses into a flying, beautiful butterfly, we are destined to transform from our weak human characters to manifesting Christ-like qualities.
For this to happen, we need to discipline our minds to always think in line with God’s Word.
When you begin to program your mind with what God says about you, then a transformation will take place.
Many of us are overdue for our new levels. It is therefore time to reprogram our thinking—to move from a negative mindset to seeing ourselves as prosperous, healthy, wealthy, and blessed beyond measure.
As we keep renewing our minds with God’s Word, surely, our paths will keep shining brighter and brighter, and we will keep moving from glory to glory.

PRAYER:
Father, by Your grace, I am overcoming every character weakness and becoming more like Christ every day. I thank You for unlocking the hidden potentials in me and causing me to be a blessing to mankind in Jesus’ Name.
