Isaiah 55:8-9 ‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.’

Glad Tidings Tabernacle, located in New York City, was for many decades one of the largest Assemblies of God congregations in the United States. It was started in 1907 by Marie Burgess.
Before Marie was born, her parents had earnestly prayed for a son who would become a minister of the Gospel. But in spite of their prayers a daughter, Marie, was born to them on October day in 1880.
At age 10, Marie was stricken with tuberculosis and was near death when she experienced visions and divine visitations that led her to totally surrender her life to serve Christ.
Afterward, Marie was hungry for the things of God.
On her 26th birthday, while attending a prayer meeting, she received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. That profound experience ushered Marie into a new season of greater spiritual growth .
She subsequently started her ministry in New York. The mission began in a small rented storefront where she set up 96 chairs, praying that the chairs would be filled. That day, two drunks stumbled into the small mission and accepted Christ.
From there attendance at the mission began to grow until it prospered into a strong church, which later became affiliated with the Assemblies of God in 1914.
Marie Burgess was notably one of the greatest women of God in her generation, who touched the world with the power of the Gospel.
Although it was a son that Marie’s parents had earnestly prayed for, yet the daughter that was given to them exceeded their expectations, and brought great blessings to their household.

If we pray for something and don’t receive the exact answer to our requests we may find ourselves asking, ‘Lord why?’
But when we are faithfully serving God and following His Word, then we can trust that whatever He does is for our good. His thoughts towards us are thoughts of peace, not of evil, to give us an expected end.
God alone knows the end from the beginning, and while we may be praying according to our own limited human understanding, God works according to His own divine plan and purpose. And His ways and thoughts are always higher than our own. [Isaiah 55:8-9].
While we make see in part, God alone sees the whole picture. This is why we must learn to trust Him in every situation.
Every time you come to a fork in the road of your life, your major concern should be ‘let God’s Will prevail!’
Facing the cross, Jesus prayed, “Not my will, but yours be done” because He was wholly submitted to His Father’s will and fully trusted God.
Likewise, our primary concern at all times, should be for the will of God to be done in our lives, trusting Him to work out what’s best for our lives. (Romans 8:28).
God is sovereign and works all things according to the counsel of His will.. But whatever He does, it is always meant to end in praise and bring glory to Him through our lives.
This is why in everything we give Him thanks and keep blessing Him, because we know that He never fails those that trust in Him.

PRAYER: Lord, please give me the grace to always trust You and place Your will above mine. I praise You Lord because I know that even right now, You are working out all things together for my good in Jesus Name.
