In 2005, Marcus Luttrell was among a four-man Navy SEAL team that was sent on a secret raid to Korangal Valley in Afghanistan. Their mission was to capture Ahmad Shah, a local Taliban warlord who was responsible for killing several U.S Marines.
Late in the night the four soldiers were dropped by a helicopter in the bushes to wait for the opportunity to strike Ahmad Shah.. But trouble started when they were unexpectedly, by daybreak, they were discovered by some village sheepherders who went and informed the Taliban.
A great number of the Taliban fighters came after them and a huge gun battle broke out. Three members of the team were killed, but Marcus managed to escape. As he ran, Marcus kept praying to God for divine deliverance. God showed up and brought him help from unexpected sources.
The next day, Marcus came to another village where he was discovered by a man named Mohammed Gulab who took him in to hide him.
When the Taliban came looking for Marcus to execute him, Mohammed and the people of his village refused to give him up. For his sake they risked their lives to engage the Taliban in a battle. Eventually Mohammed was able to contact the American base in Afghanistan who came and evacuated Marcus to safety.
In a 2007 interview with CBN News, Marcus said he survived only because God miraculously answered his prayers for deliverance.
Having retired from the military, today, Marcus goes about telling people about Jesus and the story of God’s amazing goodness.
God, indeed does answer the cry of those who call upon Him in distress( Psalm 18:6).
No matter how formidable any situation, when you call upon God, He will change the tide of the battle in your favor.
We serve the God of excessive power, excessive grace, and excessive might. There is no problem, trouble, situation or circumstance that God cannot handle.
Any time you face what seems an insurmountable battle, do not panic. Don’t think that it is the end of the road. As long as you can keep your focus on God, be assured that help is on the way. God knows how to orchestrate miracles in ways and manners that exceeds our every imagination.
He can raise help for you from unexpected quarters and bring strangers to your aid. For your sake, God can move mountains, cause walls to fall and perform miracles.
Truly, in God, we have an immovable rock that we can always run to. The key to experiencing His divine deliverance is seeking more intimate knowledge of Him.
God says in Psalms 91:14-16 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.”
We set our love upon Jesus by obeying His commandments. In John 14:15, Jesus said ‘If you love me, keep my commandments.’
As we seek and keep His commandments, we are making a spiritual investment that will answer for us in the day of trouble.
Certainly, through faith in God’s Word we will keep escaping every gang up against our glorious destiny and keep breaking forth to higher grounds in every area.
PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for You are able to deliver me from any tight and tough situation today. Thank You Lord for always hearing me when I call and answering me speedily in Jesus Name.
