The Words of the Lord are pure words ; as silver tried in a furnace of the earth purified seven times. –
DAILY READING Luke 10:21-42; Genesis 18; Psalm 11
The Bible is the oldest book known to man, yet mysteriously also it is the most sold book of all times. Yearly it remains current and in circulation, outselling every other book. It is not an ordinary book. Its content are more than mere letters, it is the breath of The Spirit encapsulated in living words. These are words which by divine inspiration were penned down and preserved over the ages by the power of God. As you read, there is such flow and coordination, that it is hard to believe that this is a book written over a period of 1600 years [from 1500 BC to AD 100], by 40 different men, who lived at different times. Yet it is all brought together by The Holy Spirit, to make perfect sense.
The Bible is supernatural. Not only does it give accurate account of the past, it also gives precise predictions of the future. Over 3200 prophesies of the Bible have been fulfilled and more and more are still coming to pass. Perhaps most importantly, The Bible is the only book which contains the actual words of God. More than 3,000 times in the Bible you will find “thus saith the Lord”, with the very words of God written down. This is God’s direct communication to humanity. This is God speaking to us.
This is why you should approach the Bible with reverence, knowing it contains the living Word of the living God- Words that can transform you. Reading it as a history book may add historic knowledge to you, but reading it as God’s Word to you gives you access to the life of God therein. Worthy of note is that these Words carry power to bring you to your destined place. So as you approach the Word today, realize that you are coming in contact with living Words which have the ability to change your life forever.
PRAYER: Lord, your Word is unchanging, and true. By Your Word transform me daily into the image of Christ…. .
