Acts 16:25-26 [TPT] “Paul and Silas, undaunted, prayed in the middle of the night and sang songs of praise to God, while all the other prisoners listened to their worship. Suddenly, a great earthquake shook the foundations of the prison. All at once every prison door flung open and the chains of all the prisoners came loose.”

In 1972, relations between Uganda and Israel became sour. Although Israel had previously supplied Uganda with arms, in 1972 Israel refused to supply Uganda with jets for a war with its neighboring country of Tanzania.
Enraged by Israel’s decision, the notorious president of Uganda, Idi Amin, expelled Israeli military advisers in his country.
Amin became an outspoken critic of Israel and told the media of his plans for war against Israel, using paratroops, bombers and suicide squadrons.
Amin went further to ban Judaism in Uganda. A Jewish community in Uganda called the Abayudaya, suffered the brunt of Amin’s wrath. Idi Amin had their Synagogues filled with goats, prayer books were burnt and Saturday which was their Sabbath day was made a working day. Though this Jewish community suffered severe persecution from Idi Amin, they kept looking unto God for deliverance. As they continued in prayer, in 1979, on the eve of Passover, the Tanzania army invaded Uganda and toppled Idi Amin’s chaotic regime.
For the Jewish community in Uganda, it was a time of joy and celebration as they had witnessed another Exodus from the oppressive rule of pharaoh through God’s miraculous intervention.
For 430 years the Israelites were held in bondage by Pharaoh. But on the night of the Passover, through God’s mighty outstretched arm, the siege of captivity was finally broken and Israel was set free.
Today, the spirit of Pharaoh still operates in the world through forces of wickedness in high places that try to oppress God’s people and make life difficult and unbearable for them.
In Acts 16:25-26, Paul and Silas were held in captivity by these forces of oppression. But through the power of praise, they experienced God’s amazing miraculous deliverance.
Today, as we come into the first day of the sixth month of June, it is our season to engage the power of praise for our deliverance from every oppression.
Despite the worsening economic climate in the world, let us always remember that the covenant is stronger than the climate. As we keep our focus on God’s Word and continually praise Him, certainly He will cause the earth to yield its increase to us.
While others may complain that there is a casting down, we will keep declaring that there is a lifting up.
Surely God is the glory and lifter up of our heads. Despite the increasing gross darkness in the world, our paths are destined to keep shining brighter and brighter.
Certainly, in this new month of June, it our season to arise and shine for our light has come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon us.
PRAYER: Father I thank You for this brand new month. Please enable me not to fret over any situation, but rather to praise You always because surely You are fighting my battles and giving me the victory in Jesus Name.
