Denise Uwimana is the author of the book ‘With God through Hell on Earth in the Rwandan Genocide’.
In the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, Denise Uwimana lost many members of her family, but she and her three children miraculously survived.
On Saturday, April 6, 1994, she was working with a Chinese-owned cement factory when the genocide started. After she had returned home, at 1:00 p.m. on that fateful day, screams and pandemonium in the neighborhood announced the arrival of killer gangs from the Hutu tribe who were hunting down members of the Tutsi tribe.
Being a Tutsi, Denise knew she was in danger. She was in her rented apartment, which she shared with ten other relatives, when suddenly the killers burst in. As her relatives scattered in different directions, Denise hid behind a door. In that time of trouble, Denise looked to God to help her.
One of the killers did find her, but inexplicably spared her life. As the killings continued in their neighborhood, Denise ran from place to place, seeking refuge. At this time, she passed through hell on earth. Several times she came face-to-face with death, but somehow each time God mercifully spared her life.
For the many days of the rampage, as she held on to God’s word, she and her children were miraculously preserved until eventually the Rwadan Patriotic Front soldiers came to their rescue.
Since then, she has testified about her miraculous survival in many countries across the globe.

How Denise and her children survived when other Tutsis were being slaughtered around them is a mystery, but faith in God is one of the greatest mysteries of life.
As Denise held on to God’s word despite the overwhelming odds, God honored His word and preserved her.
Faith will always make the ultimate difference in a person’s life. Despite the roaring fire, God delivered the Hebrew boys in Daniel 3 because they trusted in Him.
Today, we are living in perilous times where fearful news daily dominates the news headlines. Faith in God is our guarantee of survival and thriving in the midst of these uncertain times.
As believers in Christ, we are destined to always overcome and not become victims of the wicked. But to walk in the reality of our divine protection, we need to study the Word until we get a personal revelation. Nothing provokes faith like hearing from the Lord. God’s direct word to you will ignite supernatural faith in your heart. It will empower you to flourish where others perish, soar instead of sinking, and experience breakthroughs in the place of breakdowns. Certainly, if you can believe, all things will be possible to you. [Mark 9:23]

PRAYER: Lord, please enable me to accept the personal responsibility of diligently studying the Scriptures until I receive the needed revelation that will help me thrive and excel in these perilous times in Jesus Name. .
