John 14;29

‘And now I have told you before it come to pass, that when it is come to pass ye might believe.’

DAILY READING Matthew 1; Exodus 20:1-21:36; Proverbs 9

Many people don’t really think the Bible talks about current issues. They see it as an ancient book that has no relevance to current happenings in the world. But nothing can be farther from the truth. God’s Word supersedes what even the most current news media has to say, because God talks from the point of eternity. No other religious book in the world compares to the Bible. Critics have been shocked to realize that the Bible is not only current but holds accurate records of the past, present and future.

It is often times interesting to note that news being carried in the media are what God’s Word have many years ago declared. The truth is, the Word carries the first edition of the news, while world media only carry second hand news. The world media are only playing catch up because before it happens, God has already proclaimed it. Jesus said in John 14:29, ‘And now I have told you before it come to pass, that when it is come to pass ye might believe.’

For instance, 2500 years ago, long before scientists found out the earth was round in shape, God already revealed through Isaiah that the earth is a circle or sphere (Isaiah 40:22). And 3500 years ago before scientists knew the earth was suspended in space God revealed through Job that the earth ‘hangs on nothing.’ Job 26:7. Even today, we have the Book of Revelations already declaring what will happen at the end of the age. Already we see end time events unfolding exactly as the Bible said they would.

The Word of God is called the Good News, but the worldly media gives people bad news that leaves them depressed and troubled. Somebody even humorously referred to CNN as Constant Negative News. On the contrary, the Word of God carries news that imparts faith and hope that assures our heart that God is in control of affairs on earth. That is the kind of news we should hear, the news that will impart faith, hope and joy. News that will cause us to go forward and succeed, not the one that will discourage and depress.

The question therefore is, which news do you listen to most?  The Good News or the bad news? If you can spend more time in the Word of God than you spend listening to world news, your life will indeed be better for it. Don’t forget what you put in is what you get out. Listen to the Word so that you can get a right perspective of the things happening in the world. It doesn’t matter the alarming headlines that scream across media front pages, set your heart rather on what God has said, because when all is said and done, Jehovah alone has the final say.

PRAYER: Lord, please help me to focus on Your Word, and not  on the happenings in the world. I know You are in control and everything is indeed working for my good.
