Isaiah 40:31 ‘But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.’

DAILY READING • Acts 27:13-44; 1 Samuel 3; Psalm 51

In March 14, 2015, an eagle named “Darshan” launched into flight from the top of the world’s tallest building, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa tower, with a live-stream camera strapped to its back. This eagle’s flight is said to set the world record for “highest-ever recorded bird flight from a man-made structure.”

Eagles are truly fascinating birds, known for their power and ability to fly at high altitudes in the sky. No other bird flies as high as the eagle.
Eagles fly alone and have strong vision, which can focus up to 5 kilometres from the air.
However, an eagle’s ability to soar high, is as a result of its diet. Eagles do not just eat anything. Eagles feed only on freshly killed prey and do not feed on dead things. Eagles feed well and have such voracious appetite that they can consume half a kilogram of fish in about four minutes.

Because the eagles feed on fresh meat, they are strong and fly high. Eating dead things can impair their ability of free flight, so they avoid it.
On the contrary, vultures feed on dead carcasses and tend to overeat. Due to this they get intoxicated, such that they can neither move fast nor fly high and thus become prey to wild animals. Because vultures feed on dead things they have their vision impaired and can’t see very far.

The Bible says that as we wait upon the Lord we will mount up with wings as Eagles. Just as the Eagle feeds well to soar high, in the same vein, in order for us to mount up to great heights our spirit must feed right and feed well.
It certainly takes a strong spirit for a man to rise in life. Therefore as we wait upon the Lord in this season, we must feed well on His Word, so that we can receive the needed strength to rise higher.
The Word of God contains the complete diet for the human spirit. When you feed on the Word, you will be strong and do exploits.
The truth is that you will fly high or remain low, dependent upon what you feed your mind. Therefore to be high flyers like the eagle we need to be choosy over the things that enter into our minds.

Your spiritual feeding will affect your spiritual size and strength. What you feed on will determine how your life turns out. The lion known as the strongest among beasts, eats only fresh meat.
In the same way, spiritually, we need to daily feed on the fresh meat of the living Word of God.
Feeding on dead and polluted things from the world can dull a man’s spiritual sensitivity. Feeding the mind with things that are contrary to God’s will can weigh a man down, and keep him on the floor, unable to soar until inevitably he becomes an easy prey to the enemy. Sin is a sinker, but righteousness exalts.

Let us decide today to feed on the strong fresh meat of the Word, so that our senses can be exercised to discern between good and evil.
As we feed deeply on God’s Word in this period of fasting , surely we will receive the strength to mount up to the great heights of exploits that God has ordained for us this year.

PRAYER: Lord, please help me to feed constantly on Your Word, so that I can get to know You more and receive the wisdom and revelation to do amazing exploits this year. By Your grace I will continue to mount up to greater heights in all my endeavors in Jesus Name
