Matthew 17:20-21 ‘..If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.’
DAILY READING; • Day 125 – Acts 16:16-40; Judges 4-5; Job 35
When American evangelist, Billy Graham, was to hold his first crusade in Britain in 1954, it was surrounded in controversy. Questions were asked in Parliament as to whether he should be allowed to land in Britain, newspapers were against the visit, church leaders who had earlier given him an invitation backed down – the Archbishop of Canterbury told him he wasn’t welcome. The American Ambassador warned him not to come to Britain.
However Billy Graham was someone who knew how to wield the power of God through praying and fasting. He often said “there are three secrets to my ministry. The first is prayer; the second is prayer; and the third is prayer.”
And so with great oppositions lined up against his crusade in Britain, Billy went into praying and fasting. Through the power of prayer, the closed doors were opened for him to hold the crusade.
From March 1st to May 22nd 1954 attendance at the crusade in London topped 2,047,333 with around 38,000 decisions for Christ. The success God gave Billy Graham brought great revival to Britain. This London crusade marked the expansion of his evangelical ministry to global proportions.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister of Britain, Winston Churchill summoned Billy Graham and asked him his secret to filling Wembley stadium to capacity with people; a feat, he as Prime Minister could not accomplish.
However it had all happened through Billy Graham engaging the power of praying and fasting.
In his 2006 book, ‘The Journey,’ Billy Graham gives this advice: “Every man or woman whose life has ever counted for God has been a person of prayer. ,those who made the greatest impact for God were those who prayed the most.”
Indeed for a Christian to be successful in life and ministry, prayer is a great necessity. To become a sign and wonder to our world, we need to know how to wield the power of God through paying the price of fasting and prayer.
Each time a great and effectual door opens before us, there will often be many adversaries. Open doors certainly attracts oppositions. However how we deal with these resistance to our progress will often define us. The price we are prepared to pay will show our readiness for our next level.
Fasting and praying is a non-negotiable spiritual price for our rising. Many times why certain heights remain unattainable despite all efforts is because the key of fasting has not been applied.
When Jesus’ disciples asked Him why they could not cure the lunatic, He said: ‘Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting’. (Matthew 17:21).
Jesus was saying essentially that they had not yet paid the required price to take delivery of the miracle they wanted to see.
Therefore for us to see the prophecy of wonder fulfilled this year, let us be prepared to engage the power of fasting and prayer.
As we willingly pay the price, God will indeed do great and mighty things with us this year. We shall be seeing signs and wonders like never before. No matter the things that try to resist our progress, the power of God will give us a forceful turnaround that will push us to our glorious next level of destiny.
PRAYER: Lord I thank You for the grace to engage in fasting and praying so as to move higher to my new level of destiny. I know that indeed every test will turn into a testimony for me in this season in Jesus Name.
