The great healing evangelist Dr. John G. Lake, not only succeeded in ministry, he had also first succeeded as a businessman before going into full time ministry.
As a young man he was very industrious. He started two newspapers, the “Harvey Citizen” in Harvey, Illinois and the ‘Soo Times’ in Michigan. After that he embarked on a successful career in real estate, and later, became a millionaire in life insurance dealings.
John G. Lake”s success secret was his unbroken connection with the Spirit of God. While he worked with his hands, he constantly prayed in the Holy Ghost. The result of this was that he became divinely guided into taking profitable business decisions.
When certain business executives, recognized his flair for moneymaking, they asked Dr. Lake to form a trust of the nation’s three largest insurance companies for a guaranteed salary of $50,000 a year. He accepted, and soon became a consultant to top business executives, and was making hundreds of dollars through commissions as well. By the standards of that time, John G. Lake was making a fortune.
His trust in the guidance of the Spirit was so strong that when he eventually sensed the call to full-time ministry, he did not hesitate to obey.. By 1907 he gave away all his wealth and closed his office door for the last time. Dr. Lake then started out in independent evangelistic work without a single dollar, being absolutely dependent upon the Lord to supply his needs. Through deep connection to the Spirit of God he also succeeded extraordinarily in ministry. Today, he is recognized as one of the greatest men of God in his generation.
Breaking forth to greater dimensions is not by accident, it is the result of paying the required spiritual price.
Maintaining an unbroken connection with the Spirit of God, is a secret that turns mere men into wonders.
Whatever our line of calling, we can flow in divine wisdom and do mighty works through constant communion with the Spirit of God. While our physical body works, our spirit man also stays active through the flow of ceaseless prayers and worship. Through such spiritual exercise we are guided to excel exceptionally in our field of endeavors.
As God’s children, we are destined to do exploits but this never becomes a reality until the Holy Ghost comes upon us.
In Acts 2, The Apostles could only break forth into the realm of miraculous manifestations when the Holy Spirit came upon them on the day of Pentecost. In the same way, as a Christian, you can remain in hiding in the “upper rooms” of business, ministry, career, etc, never experiencing distinction until the Holy Ghost comes upon you.

The Spirit connection, is the beginning of our profitable manifestations. As we plug our spiritual life into God and maintain unbroken connection, we will gradually be propelled to amazing heights and record unprecedented success in all our endeavors.
PRAYER: Father please grant me an unbroken connection to Your Spirit. Please enable me to maintain a lifestyle of continual prayers, praise and hearing of Your Word, so that I can attain the great heights You have ordained for me in Jesus Name.
