2 Chronicles 20:17 ‘Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you,”
DAILY READING –Mark 5:1-20; 2 Samuel 13; Daniel 7
By 1948, Israel lacked a proper army of its own. Yet they were determined to fight for their independence from the Arabs. All the Jews had was a fledging underground military organization called ‘The Haganah’ which was woefully ill prepared for the impending battle with the well trained Arab military.
The prospect was more frightening for the Jews as no other nation was willing to help them. Yet,, the Jews believed God was on their side and would see them through. And so by 3:30pm on Friday, May 14, 1948, Jewish leaders gathered at the Tel Aviv Museum to declare the new state of Israel.
Immediately after, by the next day, the Arab nations attacked them, intent on annihilating the new Jewish state. But on various fronts of the war Israel saw divine help.
One of the miracles of deliverance took place when Israeli farmers living in a farming community known as a kibbutz were suddenly attacked by greater Syrian forces with two hundred armored Syrian vehicles including forty-five tanks. Though greatly outnumbered and without proper weapons, these famers quickly assembled two ancient French cannons that they had and began to use them against the Syrians’ more modern and better equipped cannons and mortars.
These Israeli farmers also began to throw bottles of molotov cocktails at the Syrians. Surprisingly, an Israeli man made a direct hit on an approaching Syrian tank. As the tank burst into flames, suddenly the entire Syrian column turned around and began to flee, possibly believing that the Israelis had anti-tank weapons.
Inexplicably, the Syrians fled leaving behind weapons that the Jews quickly took over and utilized in the battle. Thus, miraculously, the Kibbutz was preserved.
Within six weeks of the independence war, Israel was able to turn the tables on their enemies, capturing more territories and emerging victorious at last.
When it’s your season to enjoy financial independence or open Heavens, the enemy would often organize an attack. Great and effectual Open doors often attract many adversaries.
But thank God for causing us to triumph always through Christ..
In Joshua 24, the Israelites were up against seven nations that were bigger and stronger than them. These nations had more equipment and more training. The Israelites didn’t stand a chance against them. How did God get rid of these seven powerful nations? God sent insects against them. He said in Joshua 24:12 ‘And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you..’
Also in 2 kings 7, God amplified the footsteps of the four lepers such that the Syrian army became afraid. 2 Kings 7:6-7 says ‘For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host:’ and because of the noise they heard, the Syrian army arose and left their tents, and fled for their lives.
Indeed God can use any means to bring deliverance to His people. He can use options we never even considered.
As long as you are sincerely serving God, be assured that whatever it takes, God is committed to your victory. And He can use anything to accomplish it. Therefore quit worrying about how everything is going to turn out. God is in control. Just focus on going deeper in your relationship with God and keep praising Him.
In Isaiah 37, King Hezekiah was being attacked the Assyrian army greater than his own army. The Assyrian king had sent a blasphemous message that had thrown King Hezekiah into great distress of mind and profound dismay. And so Hezekiah went into the temple and spread the letter before God. Faced with an enemy and situation he could not handle, he cried out to God for help. In answer, God sent an angel that went into the camp of the Assyrians and killed 185,000 soldiers overnight. When the Assyrians arose early the next morning, behold, there were many dead bodies. The remaining soldiers fled. Later on, the king of Assyria himself was also killed, bringing to an end all his threats and oppression against King Hezekiah and his people.
Certainly, when God arises for our help, no matter how greater the opposition may appear, our victory is always assured.
Perhaps, today, a king of Assyria may be threatening you in your finances, business, health, marriage, etc. Just like Hezekiah did, take that matter confronting you to God in prayer and trust Him to show up for your deliverance. Prayer triggers the intervention of the Omnipotent God. There is no situation that comes against you today that cannot be handled with prayers. Having come out from a season of fasting and prayers, let us therefore be assured of God’s speedy intervention in our affairs.
As we continue to draw closer to Him through a lifestyle of ceaseless prayers, study of the Word and praise, God will take over our battles. We shall not need to fight, rather we will only stand still, and see the amazing salvation of the LORD.
PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for arising for my deliverance and causing me to see Your salvation in amazing ways. Thank You, Lord, for continually giving me the victory and making me a conqueror in every situation in Jesus’ Name.
