Jeremiah 17:11 [NIV]“Like a partridge that hatches eggs it did not lay are those who gain riches by unjust means. When their lives are half gone, their riches will desert them, and in the end they will prove to be fools.’

DAILY READING; • Galatians 6; Ezekiel 2-3; Psalm 149

In 1994, 33-year-old Vernon Pierce, who claimed he was a former model, went on a wedding spree.
After separating from his legal wife in 1991, Vernon married three separate women from three different states in America.
None of the wives knew about each other. He spread his time among the three women by telling them he was either a salesman, model, or engineer and so had to be away for long periods.
But he actually didn’t have a job and lived off his wives and the women he dated, as they supported him financially.
His web of lies began to untangle on June 13, 1994, when his second wife called the police, asking them to check her husband’s townhouse, because she was worried that he had been away longer than usual. When police officers went to Vernon’s townhouse in the Phoenix suburb, they were surprised to find another woman knocking on the door, claiming to also be his wife. When the confused policemen searched Vernon’s townhouse, they found a 3-by-5-inch index card reading “Who to Marry” indicating he was already plotting to marry yet another wife.
Vernon was later arrested and charged with bigamy.

For Vernon Pierce, marrying as many women as he could in order to have access to their finances appeared a clever scheme, until the bubble burst.
Today, there are many scam artists everywhere who think up fraudulent schemes to exploit people and make money.
The growth of the Internet has led to exponential growth of the scam artist industry as they can reach to people in different nations, attempting to steal their money and identity.
Learning how to protect ourselves from these scammers is now an essential part of life in the modern world.
But according to Jeremiah 17:11 those who make money through fraudulent means are “Like a partridge that hatches eggs it did not lay , when their lives are half gone, their riches will desert them, and in the end they will prove to be fools.’[NIV]
Today, the world applauds those who fraudulently outsmart others to become wealthy.
As believers, God requires integrity in our dealings. We must carefully walk according to Scriptural principles, in order to see greater open doors and breakthroughs.
We must not think that we can get away with bending the rules without braking them, or tell ‘small white lies’ and be okay. Whether a person steals a dollar or a million dollars, he is still a thief.
Proverbs 10:2-3 says ‘Treasures gained dishonestly profit no one, but righteousness rescues from death.’

We must guard against lowering our moral standard because no man can rise above the limitations of his own character. Every time you break a moral principle it becomes harder, to act with integrity.
But as we maintain integrity and refuse to compromise, we shall enjoy stability in our dealings and abound with overflowing blessings.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask for the grace to always maintain integrity and walk in fear and reverence of Your Word in all my dealings. As I do, I thank You for connecting me to my next level and taking me to greater heights in Jesus Name.
