Deuteronomy 7:9 ” Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations”
DAILY READING; Galatians 5:1-15; Lamentations 5; Psalm 147
Pastor Mike Walsh, lead pastor at Glad Tidings Church in Powell, Wyoming ,has seen firsthand the promises of Exodus 23:25.
Around 1997, when his wife, Becky, was four-months pregnant with their son Matt, she had started to bleed and a doctor informed her that she was probably miscarrying.
But as they prayed, they received the prophesy in line with Exodus 23:25 that said Becky would not cast her young.
After the prayers, miraculously the bleeding stopped and five months later, she gave birth to Matt who was born completely healthy.
In 2014, when Matt was 17 years old, again God’s miraculous deliverance showed up in his life.
On Saturday, February 8th, Matt and his elder brother Michael embarked on a day of adventure and went to the top of a mountain where they planned to snowboard off from.
Matt decided to go first and hurtled down the 60 degree incline. As Michael stood at the edge, getting ready to go next, suddenly there was an avalanche as the whole mountain began to go down. Michael had to flip his body backward to avoid being swept over the edge. When he got up, slightly dazed, he realized that his brother had been caught in the enormous avalanche, which covered an area the size of two football fields.
As Matt found himself buried three feet below the surface, he tried to dig himself out, but the snow turned to ice cementing him in and he could not move.
With just few minutes left to find his brother before he died, Michael had no idea where to look or what to do. Frantically, he cried out to God for help. At that very moment for the first time in his life, he heard God’s voice clearly speak to him, telling him ‘Go find your brother.’
Michael ran down toward the bottom of the avalanche, but there was no sign of Matt. Then as he took steps forward, his boot sunk down into a depression and then a hole opened and he heard Matt’s voice faintly calling, “Mike, I’m OK. Mike, I’m alright.”
Amazingly, out of an area about 100 yards by 200 yards, God guided Michael to the exact spot in the vast debris field where he was standing right on top of Matt!
It took Michael about 30 minutes to completely dig his brother out from the snow, much of which was frozen like concrete.
After his two sons safely returned home with their amazing story, Pastor Mike Walsh gathered his family to praise God.
Later speaking to the media, Pastor Mike said ‘Matt should have died, the only reason he was found is that God did it, I know it was a miracle..”
In Exodus 23:25 God promises that those who serve Him shall not cast their young, nor be barren and the number of their days He will fulfill.
Truly, miracles of divine deliverance, provision, preservation and victory are the portion of those who worship God in Spirit and in truth. It is the heritage of the servants of The Lord.
As we pursue kingdom service, we attract God’s blessings that make rich and add no sorrow to it.
This means that God not only provides for us, He also removes from our habitation things that cause sorrow. He removes bad news, evil reports, tragedy and every evil occurrences. He watches over our children and directs their steps away from danger and destructions..
God’s blessings and covenant does not stop with us, it extends to several generations after us.
Deuteronomy 7:9, says ” Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations”
God faithfully keeps covenant with those who serve Him.
Therefore, in the face of any confrontation always remember whose you are and whom you serve. No matter the trial or temptations always be assured that God is able to bring you out and set your feet upon a solid rock.
Psalm 40:2-3 says ‘He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God’
Certainly, today, God will put a new song in our mouth..
Therefore, let us remain thankful and keep praising Him, because He is the covenant-keeping God who never fails those who trust in Him!.
PRAYER: Lord, please help me to fulfill the conditions of serving You faithfuly, so that I can receive the blessings You have promised in Your Word in Jesus Name.
